I love cookbooks. But I don’t like to cook from cookbooks. I don’t following directions, I don’t like reading while cooking, and I don’t like when my finished product doesn’t look like the author’s gorgeous creation. BUT, when a good friend creates an incredibly gorgeous cookbook with recipes to die for, I’m going to put my big girl pants on and try out an amazing recipe to enlighten my taste buds. Gosh, that’s a lot of descriptive words. I feel like the suck up in the class. But I’m serious. This new cookbook is finally out and ready to blow your mind.

Danielle, from the website site Against All Grain, has just come out with her first cookbook called Against All Grain: Delectable Paleo Recipes to Eat Well & Feel Great. The book is full of more than 150 recipes which are all grain and dairy free, and have a gorgeous picture for every single recipe. That’s one thing I absolutely need in a cookbook, a picture for every recipe. If I don’t know what it’s going to look like, I’m screwed. Or I don’t even actually want to try the recipe. I am completely inept without pictures. Fact.

With sections in the book that include kid friendly recipes to guest friendly recipes, no one that steps foot in your household will ever go hungry. It’s just a fact. And her recipes satisfy the sweet palate with delicious breakfast recipes such as vanilla almond granola to french toast casserole. But she doesn’t forget the savory people who will love the london broil and curried short ribs. What I’m trying to say here is that Danielle developed more paleo recipes than you thought possible, in ways that you never imagined. You will be proud to put this in your recipe book collection and even more excited to try the recipes she has come up with.

This recipe is from her cookbook. It’s called Chocolate Cream Pie with Chocolate-Cookie Crust. It’s incredibly decadent and will blow the minds of your friends who don’t even eat paleo. I made it and had to give most of it to my friends so I wouldn’t smuggle it onto the airplane for breakfast while I flew to San Diego.
