I'm trying (for the millionth time) to cut sugar from my life. It's been a struggle since I'm addicted to caffeine as well as sugar. I can't seem to have one without the other. I put an aggressive amount of sugar in my coffee, like embarrassing. My friends usually walk away from me at Starbucks because they dont want to be associated. I just made it a whole week of doing almond milk and stevia, so far so good. My question is, with the lack of sugar in my life, could this be affecting my workouts? I hear people saying how great they feel, and how much more energy they have when making healthy changes but does that come with time? My workouts this week have sucked, my legs feel like lead, and I'm just feeling like a slacker. Is this related to sugar or am I just being lazy???
If you're addicted to sugar, coming down off that sugar can be challenging and make you not feel your best until your body has cleaned itself of it. How your workouts feel good definitely be related to eliminating sugar. Sugar is carbohydrates and if your body is use to a certain amount of carbs and it doesn't have it anymore, it will take sometime to adjust. I highly recommend checking out Diane Sanfilippo's 21 Day Sugar Detox (online or books) because it explains all that in more detail!
