When temperatures get above 40 degrees F here in Denver, it means it’s time for some dresses. Sometimes jeans just aren’t going to cut it. My legs need to feel free. And most days I don’t want to hop myself into a pair of skinny jeans. It’s just not how I want to start my day off. So when skinny jeans are out of the question, I turn to a sweater dress, pair it with some boots, then live my best life with my legs feeling free as a bird. It’s quite freeing have a cold breeze on your stems as your feet stay toasty warm. It’s really the only thrill I feel in the winter since I like to hibernate and not leave the house until summer rolls back around. Winter is stupid.

But what isn’t stupid is a soft and cozy sweater dress. I found this Button Cuff Sweater Dress (which is now 50% off!!) recently at the Loft when I was doing a little New Year browsing through the mall. I sometimes forget about this store since it’s not always my style, but I LOVED some of the sweater dresses they had, and I loved the wool coats even more! And what is pretty cool about the Loft is that they offer sizes petite, regular, and plus, so you can find the perfect size for you! Oh and one more thing – on their size when you find an item you like, they have ‘ways to wear it’ below the item. That way you can see what kind of scarf or boots or even hat to pair with the look to help you style it different ways!

I decided to pair the dress with a pop of color with this Funnel Neck Coat in a deep spruce green color. I consider it an emerald color, but tomayto, tomahto. Color is so often forgotten about in winter and a pop of color with a coat or jacket is the perfect way to bring a little life back the dead shrubbery that surrounds us for months. This modern coat is AWESOME! I love it so freaking much! It’s comfortable, it’s chic, and it’s structured so it doesn’t fall in weird ways while you wear it throughout the day. It’s just so damn cute! While I was taking these photos, I had a man walk by and tell me I looked beautiful and I think it all has to do with this coat. It brings me back to life in the dead of winter!

Now let’s not forget about these Faux Fur Trim Boots (that are 40% off right now!!)! These boots go perfectly with a sweater dress because they keep you hella warm in the colder temperatures. And they are incredibly comfortable to wear throughout the day. It’s kind of like wearing gigantic slippers that wrap around your shins. And say it’s a tad too cold where you are living and having bare legs is out of the question, then add a pair of stockings to the look! This two pack of stockings gives you a solid black color AND a leopard print. Leopard print stockings?! Yes please. Buying immediately. Those would be so cute with these stockings!

Hopefully this look gives you some new winter wardrobe inspiration! And since it’s suppose to be 48 degrees here in Denver today, I’ll be bringing out yet another sweater dress for the weekend! Cheers to not letting winter bring me down this year!
