I need to tell you about something that’s pretty much the greatest thing to happen to me since paleo brownies. Speaking of brownies, I might be making some this week for you. Just for you, definitely not for me. Anywho, I went to the gym the other day, and when I came out, my car was on. But I had my keys in my hand. I was confused. Like, uber confused. It wasn’t until I was handed to new remote starter to my car that I actually understood what was happening. I got an early Christmas present!! Since it’s been so freezing cold here, my car got a little helpful boost added to it while I was gone. So now, when I work the early shifts at the gym, I can start my car from bed and my butt will be warm as soon as I sit down. Paleo brownies and a warm car at 6am? HELL YES. This year can’t get any better.
I seriously love the movie Avatar. I’m guessing I’ve talked about this at least 4 times on my blog before, but whenever I get to see it again, I get so excited. It’s 1 of 2 movies I own. Avatar and The Breakfast Club. Makes sense. Both movies I cry in. For different reasons. But the Pandora’s world strikes more closely to my heart. Mostly because I want to live there and this world seems excessively boring when you watch that movie.
Speaking of another world, I’ve been remembering my dreams a lot lately. I wake up in the middle of the night, then once I fall back asleep, I have crazy dreams. Remember my dream about creepy people? Well, that one is still the worst. By far. But the other day, I had a dream about alligators. Or maybe it was a crocodile. I don’t really know the difference. I think alligators are smaller. So it was an alligator. Anywho, I was being chased by an alligator and what did I do? I jumped in a pool. THE ONE THING YOU’RE NOT SUPPOSE TO DO, I did. How childish of me. My dreams are childish. Anyways, when I woke up, the covers were all over the place, and my heart was racing. I’m guessing I was sweating too, mostly because I’m just a sweaty person. Does it count as exercise if your heart rate is elevated and you’re pitting out? I’m countin’ it.
I think I have poor circulation in my feet. They are ALWAYS cold. Socks on, socks off, shoes on, shoes off, fur boots on, fur boots off. I need heated socks for this winter.

Made this today for NFL playoffs! Will be on Super Bowl menu also! So good and spicy!
I have a batch if this in the crock pot now!!!! My husband is salivating and it’s not even 10am EST yet!!!
I hate having to cook everyday especially when i work long days at work and don’t really have time. I found this and made it last night and holy cow it’s delicious!! Thank you so much for the recipe
Put this together this morning for tonight’s dinner and, man was it good!!! I pulled back a bit on a few of the spicier spices and am glad I did in the end as it was plenty spicy. For the hot sauce, I used Frank’s.
Thank you for a great recipe!!!
I just started eating Paleo this month, immediately found your blog and made this recipe first. OMG is it delicious! Definitely on the spicy side, but the sliced avocado help cut the heat a bit. I will definitely be trying more of your recipes!
I just tried this recipe tonight, and while it sounds delicious, I realized after already assembling things in my crock pot that there was no way that everything was going to fit, leaving me with a hodgepodge of end ingredients and without bell peppers as there was no space. Granted, I should have realized this was going to be a problem before I started loading things into my crock pot, but I have been pleasantly surprised before when I thought that I was going to be over capacity. Could you please add the size of the crock pot you are using to your recipe(s), as “crock pot” isn’t really a container size and crock pot sizes really do vary?
Many thanks.
This is delicious. I cubed up some sweet potatoes and tossed them in there, also. In my opinion, the sweetness really adds a bit of balance to the dish, and I definitely need to carbohydrates as a highly active male. With each recipe, I become more and more of a devout fan of this blog. Keep ’em coming! 😉
Being from New Mexico & growing up on Hatch chili, this sounds great. What about using brisket instead of port & adding yellow homony?
sounds good to me! I’ve never tried hominy though
This is awesome! I was addicted to your brownies.. and now this! It was so easy, I threw everything in the pot yesterday morning and now I have my afternoon snack made for my boyfriend & I for the entire week! 🙂
The flavour is amazing! Perfect combination of spices. It thickened up overnight in the fridge, so I threw it on top of some brown rice. I can’t wait to eat it this afternoon!
Thanks Juli!!!
I’m so sorry to have to rate something so low!! I love your recipes, usually! This is WAY too spicy for any normal human being!! I’m kind of a puss when it comes to spice, but my husband is better, and he had a cold and couldn’t even taste anything, but was sweating bullets and his lips were on fire. He then had some….let’s just say, some GI upset afterwards….I could only go through one bowl total, with so much leftover!! The hubs ended up eating a few bowls for leftovers but then had to abandon it because he was tired of pooping fire. I will try this again, but with maybe half the spice!!! And I will have to rate more of your recipes, because I have tried many and loved them all!! 🙂
oh no!!!!! i’m so sorry, sorry to hear that! people have said that my spicy recipes are too spicy for them, so i’m sorry it was for you! keep that in mind if you create any of my spicy dishes in the future. sorry again about that!
