Embracing the Utility Trend

One of the fashion trends this year that I’m SO down for is the utility look. It feels like the new athleisure because every utility piece you put on is just as comfortable as a pair of leggings or joggers. These military-inspired pieces with muted tones are sweeping every store and I’m INTO it. All the utility pieces I’ve tried on lately are spacious, flattering and comfortable to wear all day long. Especially this Tie Waist Utility Romper I just snagged from Express. And since the pieces are simple, you can dress them up or dress them down, and wear them any day of the week!

What I love about this romper the most is that it’s spacious while still giving you a little shape around the waist. You can wear it with the normal tie around the waist OR dress it up a bit with a leopard print belt. I’ve worn it both ways and it looks cute no matter what! Plus the romper comes with giant pockets so you don’t have to figure out what to do with your hands while you’re at a backyard BBQ and not drinking. I’ve thought this one through guys, trust me.

I paired the romper with the cutest hexagon earrings and interlocking circles necklace, and I haven’t taken them off since. Well, that’s kind of a lie. I take them off during my workouts and when I sleep, but afterwards, they are right back on again! We are putting a hexagon shape tile floor in our bathroom so I obviously have a bit of an obsession. And I mostly want to match with my new bathroom since it’s still gutted and looks like a dusty mess. These earrings give me hope.

And since the temperatures are ever changing here in Colorado right now, I also grabbed the softest trench coat for spring. And I’m IN LOVE! This trench coat comes in 5 different colors but I love the beige the most when it comes to spring. It will go with any color and it’s the perfect weight to keep you warm without making you too hot in the springtime weather. Pair it with a pair of white denim shorts, a simple black midi dress, or with a sleek pair of skinny jeans! You’re going to love this coat, I promise you that!
