Enjoying a Birthday Date Night In

I had a call with a handful of my friends from my gym the other day and one of my friends asked what romantic things my husband had done for me while quarantined at home. And honestly, I think him making me breakfast and then making the bed most days is the most romantic thing I could have asked for during this stay-at-home order. But this week was a little different because it was my birthday, so the hubs made sure to do everything possible to make it a little extra special. We had our first true date night in filled with gluten-free pizza, cupcakes, and my favorite cocktail.

I know everyone out there feels a little different about being quarantined at home, but I’ve really come to appreciate the extra time at home. My husband and I are hanging out more than ever, we are still ordering from our favorite restaurants to support them through this time, and I’m getting our backyard space decorated for nights on our patio this summer. We’ve really tried to make the most out of this time at home knowing it won’t last forever and we’ve stayed busy throughout. And my birthday was no different! I worked and worked out in the morning, I skated around in my new rollerblades in the afternoon, and then I got dressed up in the evening to enjoy our favorite gluten free pizza on our patio! It was pretty much the perfect birthday!

And a birthday date night in deserves a special outfit! I’ve been wearing quite enough loungewear lately so I took my birthday as an opportunity to dress up and feel a little extra special. And honestly, I can’t recommend it enough! It made me feel like life was back to normal and my husband and I could concentrate on each other instead of the world going on around us.
