It’s official. I need a spray tan. I can’t look at my paleness anymore. There are some people out there that do the pale look quite well. I am definitely not one of those people. I am heading to Nebraska for a wedding next week and plan on wearing a dress. Which means a spray tan is in my future. I guess I’m just not granola enough to love my pale skin. Especially when I’m pmsing. Want to see me at my most unsteady emotional state? Find me in the dead of winter, around my time of the month, weeping while consuming handfuls of chocolate chips.

Thankfully, this outfit shows just enough skin that you don’t fully know I’m super pale. Just kind of. I posted an outfit recently with a similar look (dress + scarf + boots) and I obviously still love it because I did it yet again. I love the all black look with a pop of color and I especially love a dress with over the knee boots. This dress is a sleeveless turtleneck dress, but if you are looking for a little longer length and long sleeve, I have you covered too! Don’t be afraid to sport a dress in the winter! You can always add tights for a little more texture and coverage!

Here in Colorado, our gym is freezing. We lack air conditioning and heat, but we make up for it in spunkiness. So when winter hints, I have to make sure I have plenty of pullovers and jackets to wear, especially for my 6am classes when I’m not actually moving. This pullover is by far my absolutely favorite. It’s so warm, stretchy and the thumb holes keep it in place while you’re doing whatever the hell you’re doing. Like yelling at people while they workout!

I just recently found this jacket while I was out running errands and instantly fell in love with the color and love that it’s wrap around instead of just a normal collar. This wool coat could be put with a casual outfit like this one or worn out for a date night with a dress and heels. Either way, it’s warm and has a silk lining that keeps it from being itchy, and it’s only $42.50 right now!! Steal!

How in love are you with this door? I was just driving around and saw this door from a few blocks away and it was just perfect for this outfit. Festive AF. PS I lost my earring right after this picture. Wahhhhhh. Anywho, I want to wear these color all day everyday now that it’s December. Popping some color into your outfit with a purse, scarf or shoes is the perfect way to dress up any outfit. And that’s exactly what I did here! If you have some neutral outfit staples, all you need is those pops of color to make any outfit feel fancy!

I have absolutely no clue where I got this top, but I know i found it a couple years ago and I pull it back out every year, so I found one that is similar and looks even more comfortable than mine! I wore this outfit to a concert and danced my face off. If you want to feel uncomfortable in shoes, jump up and down for 3 hours straight and by the end of the night, you’ll feel like you’re stepping on needles. When the cab dropped me off, I could barely walk up the driveway since my buzz had worn off. But it was so worth it. Just next time, tennis shoes will be born.

Oh, Hi! I’m Juli.

I’m a food hoarder. And a really bad dancer. If you don’t know me well, you will probably not understand my humor. Therefore, I apologize ahead of time. Thanks for listening to my ramblings of my ever-changing life and trusting my kitchen mishaps. Your trust in me is appreciated.

  1. I know it’s only a “spray tan” but be careful with the real stuff. Too much ol’ sol can lead to premature aging and worse. I’m a ginger born and live in the sunshine state. My dermatologist calls my freckles, DAMAGE! I get compliments on my skin but it’s a chore to keep those long term exposure effects at bay, i.e. frequent visits with the aforementioned. So take care and be smart, I want to read and make your recipes for a long time.

BTW, love those outfits, especially the first one. Very chic.

  2. I look forward to your blog every single day when I get to work. Thank you for brightening my day and letting me know that it’s alright that I’m obsessed with food, fashion, and fitness. And thank you especially for being real. I look up to you so much. And by the way, Fashion Friday this week was killer.

  3. Juli! So I bought your cookbook on Cyber Monday and I thought you should know that I am seriously IN LOVE with it!

I am totally a recipe book collector and my definition of a good cookbook is one with a photo for every recipe. Because I totally eat with my eyes and you totally hit that one out of the park! I was really curious to see what your cookbook would be like and if you’d interject your fun and spunky personality into it and you totally did and for that, I love it!!

I have easily a dozen sticky notes hanging out of it of recipes that caught my eye and I’m only a third of the way through. Now I’m wishing I didn’t buy more on Cyber Monday, they would make THE BEST Christmas gift! Probably going to buy more anyway.

Just wanted to say, fantastic job, your book is amazing, your blog is amazing, and I seriously look forward to reading your blog everyday!

  4. Love those killer over the knee boots. I was going to buy them, but I saw a lot of reviews said they ran large. Did you have to go down half a size?

  5. can’t help it, I have to jump in on this…
    1. love your site, wife loves your recipes, you’re stunning (great shots with the boots!)
    2. the notion that we have to run away from the sun has been proven wrong over and over again, just not by the companies that sell boatloads of spf creams/sprays/lotions… obviously, don’t fake ‘n bake every day, or cover yourself in “Pam” and baste all day, but moderate exposure is not the enemy.
    3. from personal experience, take astaxanthin every day for skin (also eyes and digestive health). I’m a pale German and I don’t burn now since I’m been taking it daily – 5 years and counting. I’ve only used sunscreen in Mexico.
    4. your dog is awesome.

    Keep it up!
