You guys. I did some dumb shit yesterday. Why in the hell would I eat gluten? WHY GOD, WHY? Stop getting mad at me for saying God. Im real good at saying no to certain foods. Like fast food. Why the eff would you eat that? Come on, man. It’s 2015, get it together. But Christmas cookies? You have to. Nuts and toffee covered in chocolate to make the shape of a cookie?? YES PLEASE! Cake balls?? YES PLEASE! A dip with mystery ingredients in it?? YES PLEASSSSSE!! I pretty much just held my jaw open and let hell break loose. That sounded weird. Erase that. I just didn’t stop eating. Some years I don’t crave those foods, some years I do. I can’t control the time of the month that Christmas falls on. So this year, I just screwed myself over. I ate whatever I wanted, and really regretted it. People continuously ask me, ask meaning yell at me, why I don’t just eat a “regular” donut if I’m going to eat a gluten free one. Well, this is why. I feel terrible. It’s not worth the stomach ache that I get. But I guess it’s just one of those once a year things you have to do. Especially when around other family and friends. Meaning boyfriend’s family and friends. Not all people follow the same kind of lifestyle and I totally get that. So I’m sure as hell not going to be that offensive guest. No sir, no way. I’m still just the girlfriend. And I’d like it to stay that way. So I’ll be happy to eat crap once a year!
Can you believe the holidays are already over?? Geez Louise. They came and went so quickly. I really like that as the years go on, we get less and less presents. I mean, everyone loves presents but I hate getting random nicknack gifts that you don’t know what to do with because you feel bad throwing them out. This year, the boyfriend’s family and I decided to choose names so we would only have one person to buy for. Easy peasy. And the boyfriend said we wouldn’t buy for each other this year since we are saving for a house. Of course, he bought me these Sorel Medina II Boots and I cried a little inside. I’ve wanted these boots for so long now! He’s the greatest. But the person who chose my name was my boyfriend’s sister and she grabbed me a turquoise leather jacket and a Michael Kors bracelet. Pretty much the greatest Christmas presents ever. I can’t even. I chose my boyfriend’s brother and got him a GoPro so he can take it to spring break with him. I’m personally very happy that there were no cameras on any of my spring break trips, but I know for a fact he makes better decisions than I did. Oh the memories. The non-facebook memories.
Okey dokey boo boo. Let’s talk about outfits this week. This first one was an outfit I wore to the Botanical Gardens to look at all the lights with my parents since we didn’t get to see them on Christmas. Oversized sweaters are pretty much the best thing since sliced bread. So comfortable and so warm. And right now, so stylish. One of my favorite boutiques in town, Hailee Grace, is packed full of oversized sweaters right now and all of them are under $100! And this Anthropologie Lunan Anorak Jacket is still my favorite purchase of winter. Worth every penny in the cold Colorado air.
{ Leggings with Leather Stripe from Hailee Grace Boutique for $45 – similar pair here | White Oversized Hi low Sweater from Hailee Grace Boutique for $54 – similar one here | Grey Infinity Scarf from Target – similar one here and here | Anthropologie Lunan Anorak Jacket for $248 | Leather Studded Over the Knee Boots from Modcloth (last season) for $89 | Grace and Lace Leg Warmers for $35 }
This was my favorite outfit of the week because it was the most comfortable. AND because my hair was going on 5 days unwashed so the hat covered up the sketch area. These floppy beanies are my new favorite accessory for winter to stay extra warm without having to do your hair. It’s truly a genius idea.
{ Grey Flying Monkey Skinny Jeans from Hailee Grace Boutique for $54 – similar pair (40% off right now!) | Gap Terry Embossed Wave Sweatshirt | Black Leather Jacket from Francesca’s for $60 – similar one here and here | Lime Beanie from The Clymb for $13 | Sorel Medina II Boot for $225 | Open Knit Green Infinity Scarf from Modcloth (last season) for $25 – similar scarf and similar color }
My new favorite place to go in Denver is the redone Union Station. It’s the train station in town and recently they gutted the place, put a ton of restaurants and bars in and made just adorable. A bunch of our guy friends were doing a gift exchange, so us ladies grabbed some dinner at Mercantile. I spent FAR too much on champagne. You can’t trust your server to recommend a champagne. He will always go with the most expensive one. Bastard. I still tipped a lot because he said he loves Sons of Anarchy. I dig that kind of person.
{ Dark Turquoise Long Sleeve Blouse found at Inspyre Boutique for $30 – similar blouse | Skirt given to me from a friend – similar one here | Black Leather Jacket from Francesca’s for $60 – similar one here and here | Come Haute on Top Bootie from Modcloth for $50 – similar pair here and here | Infinity Scarf from Target last year – similar here and here }
Hi, First, love your website – the recipes, fashion pics, and Jackson! FYI – I bought the Medina II Sorel boots after seeing them in one of your Fashion Friday pics. Wore them yesterday and the straps kept coming undone. During a chat with the retailer I figured out that the boots came to me with the topcovers on wrong. Clasp is supposed to be on the outside. Thought I’d share in case you encounter the same issue, as I saw in one of your pics the clasps on the inside.
same thing happened to me!! thanks so much for the update! that’s so weird haha!
OMG those Sorel booties were on my wish list for Christmas but I never pulled the trigger. Are they comfy and practical? Who cares really obsessed with those boots!
You’re really great! I’ll without a doubt attempt the boots on before obtaining!
