I’m so excited to have Kelly from the cookbook Paleo Happy Hour on my blog! Especially with a drink recipe. I NEVER post drink recipes, unless it’s a smoothie. Because I love smoothies. But when it comes to alcoholic drink, I’m pretty lazy. I just pound shots or sip quickly on vodka sodas. So this is pretty special. Be sure to check out Kelly’s brand new cookbook as well as the giveaway she’s doing on her blog right now! The giveaway includes 7 cookbooks, bacon AND a spiral slicer! Rad. Check it out!

I feel really fortunate to be able to do a guest post to all the PaleOMG followers! You may not have heard of me, Kelly Milton (most likely not), but I am a Paleo food blogger over at PaleoGirlsKitchen.com. That is where I have made my little food-porn home to share shamelessly with the world.
Through my transition to Paleo I had many struggles, especially around my social life. I like to drink occasionally, entertain often, and maintain a Paleo lifestyle at the same time. Many people would say alcohol is not a part of the Paleo diet, and I would agree. It probably isn’t if you are ultra-strict Paleo, fighting an illness, or really focused on leaning out. The really good news is that I am none of those things. Also, I don’t look at Paleo as a “diet” but as a lifestyle. And, like it or not, my lifestyle includes drinking. I have applied the basic principles of Paleo : gluten free, dairy free, and no added sugar to alcoholic drinks!
I spent the last couple years developing a book filled with over 100 food recipes, 20 sauces, and 21 drinks that allow you to entertain flawlessly, drink guiltlessly, and eat indulgently. My book is called Paleo Happy Hour and you can find it at Amazon.com, Barnes and Noble, and Costco!
I thought with Halloween just around the corner, I could brew up a new drink just for the PaleOMG readers. It is Frankenstein’s Key Lime Pie Martini! I hope you enjoy it!
Halloween isn’t just a holiday for kids; adults like to have fun too. These key lime pie martinis will have you doing the monster mash! Beware: they are strong and tasty, which sometimes leads to getting wasty (wasted didn’t rhyme). Indulge in a spook-tacular drink this Halloween instead of reaching for the candy bowl.

wait, WAIT. omg. this is a thing? HOW DID I NOT KNOW!?!?!?!
This Friday I finish the 21DSD and the next day I celebrate my birthday. THIS drink will be had. Key lime is my most favorite thing of all time and this couldn’t sound more amazing to a girl who hasn’t let sugar touch her lips in weeks. Thank you!
Looks yummy, can’t wait to make it! And I hear ya, sister. I love to entertain and have a few drinks!
I can’t wait to get your cookbook. This drinks sounds great but is the vanilla extract amount correct? 2 tablespoons seems like a lot for only 4 drinks.
DJdeeJay, yes, it is correct! With all the strength of the lime, the vanilla comes through perfectly. I brought a giant jug of these to a party a week ago and everyone LOVED them! 🙂 They also are pretty big martinis, about 6-8 ounces each.
How did you figure out the measurements for a “giant” jug ? lol I want to make them on Memorial weekend! Thanks!!
Oh my goodness, these sound amazing! Might need to throw a Halloween party just to be able to make them 🙂 Thanks for sharing.
“Key lime juice” is that the same thing as lime juice? Or do you specifically have to do that? Also, I am SO buying that book.
Is “Key lime juice” something you specifically buy or is it just lime juice? Also, I am SO buying that book.
Key lime juice is its own thing– I think Nellie and Joe? make one (often found in the natural food aisle of a regular grocery store) or Stirrings makes one that is a little different and usually in the cocktail mixer section.
I have all of these ingredients at the ready… coincidence? I think not.
I just got her cookbook last week and it is awesome-so many really terrific recipes!
