Do your work Christmas parties start this weekend? Are you dreading it or looking forward to it? I’ve only ever been to my significant other’s Christmas party and it’s always a bit awkward because no one knows what to talk about. When they talk about work stuff, I tune out. But when they ask me about my work stuff, they tune out. It’s a lose lose situation. My own work party is very different. Because it’s a gym. So everyone comes to the gym, we drink a lot, everyone loosens up and has a great time. There is dancing, watching the single people mingle, and lots of talk about working out. Kind of annoying, but so great at the same time.

Anywho, do you have your outfit planned? Even before I was in to dressing up (about 4 years ago), I still loved planning my outfit for the Christmas party because it was the ONE day of the year that I dressed up. All the other days were filled with sports bras and spandex. Now that I only work out once a day, I have way more time to dress up and wash my hair. I have a Christmas party tonight with my fiancé and I’ll either be wearing this burgundy dress below OR a big poofy skirt with a leather crop top. Probably going with the latter because…crop top.

This dress below would be a great holiday dress. It’s a fun fall to winter color that can be worn with tall boots or tights with some cute booties. And since it’s a swing dress, it doesn’t cling anywhere and can anything you don’t want shown!

This outfit makes me feel like I should be hanging out at a Colorado brewery, sipping on some expensive yet oh-so-cool and oh-so-disgusting beer. I don’t know why, but that’s what it feels like. This beanie will be worn all winter long this year. It’s SO soft and just a little baggy so it’s not clingy to your head and giving you a headache. I love it!

You know how I love ponchos and this poncho is no different! This is something I’ll be wearing to Zoo lights or Botanical Gardens lights with a thick sweater underneath! I feel like this is an adult outfit. Like a mom outfit. A cool mom outfit. Suburban chic, if you will.

Oh this dress. I adore this dress. It tights right at the small of your waist and loosens up just enough to feel comfortable still. Instead of a Christmas party, I’ll be wearing this to a wedding I have tomorrow night. I’ve never been to a winter wedding. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that it doesn’t snow. This outfit would be just a tad cold in the snow. But if you are looking for the perfect holiday dress, this one would definitely do the trick!

I’ve told you for a long time now that I was going to share home decor posts with you guys while I moved into our first home. But that was pushed back while I was on book tour then pushed back even more with just deciding what the heck I was going to decorate our house with. FINALLY one room is done in our house! Finally. We decided to paint our dining room wall a fun accent color of purple and then I had a friend build both our kitchen table and shelves. He also built our coffee table and side table in our house. I love his stuff so much. So take a peek inside our home! After Christmas is over, I’ll be sharing living room pictures with you guys as well!

Oh, Hi! I’m Juli.

I’m a food hoarder. And a really bad dancer. If you don’t know me well, you will probably not understand my humor. Therefore, I apologize ahead of time. Thanks for listening to my ramblings of my ever-changing life and trusting my kitchen mishaps. Your trust in me is appreciated.

  1. I always look forward to my husband’s holiday party for the same reason. I love getting a new outfit and getting my hair done. I never know what to talk about either. I’m a stay at home mom and feel cliche because I love exercise and cooking. I made your flourless chocolate cake and egg frittata from your cookbook today. I have guests coming into town. 🙂

  2. I have a funny cape story to share….kind of like your poncho…long on the sides and back with fringe. Anyway…windy days are not a good day to wear them. I got out of the car, the wind flipped the dam thing over my head. Once I stopped laughing at myself, I resituated my cape and closed the car door. With the cape in the door. DOOOHH!!! Then get into the back seat to grab my bags, drop my coffee cup, it rolls under the car while spilling out my precious brew. THEN after retrieving my cup and questioning whether I should continue this dreadful morning, I gather my bags, I close the door, go to lock car and the key is on back seat. So glad the car wasn’t locked already when I closed the door. And also SOOOO glad no one was around to witness the sheer line of curse words coming straightouttamymouth!

I love the burgundy dress with the cutouts. Very tasteful and I could see that it would be a nice choice for the holidays. Love it!

The table and shelves rock too. I respect that it’s built for you and unique to your tastes and that it can’t be bought at any store.

    1. i’ve been trying to find out, but my fiance actually painted it and he can’t remember what the name is. i’ll keep trying to figure it out for you!

  3. I’ve been trying to search everywhere for the 3D wall art you have in your living room. Where did you get it? I think it’s by your tv…gold box looking 3D thing. Hahaha. I want something similar! Let me know…thank you!!!

  4. I know this is an old post, but I am currently looking for new dining chairs. I really like the ones you have so I was wondering how you thought the chairs have held up.
