Let me preface this post by saying I’M OBSESSED WITH THREDUP!! Completely obsessed. No where else can you find thousands upon thousands of brand name, high quality clothing, all at a fraction of the original price. And every time I shop at thredUP, I find some of the cutest clothing in my closet. From holiday clothing to casual looks to special event items…they seriously have it all!
I found out about thredUP back in 2016 and I’ve been shopping with them ever since! When I was growing up, I did most of my shopping in secondhand stores, but as I got older and lost my patience for the packed shelves and disorganized racks, I shopped less and less at those stores. But thredUP has completely changed the game when it comes to shopping secondhand. They make is so easy for their customers to find the perfect look at an incredible price.
thredUP is largest online thrift store where you can find more than 35,000 brands for up to 90% off the original retail value. They have some of my favorite brands like Express, White House Black Market, Zara, J Brand, Alicia + Olivia, and Nicole Miller. But they also have amazing high-end brands such as Gucci, Prada, Stuart Wietzman, Fendi, DVF, Kate Spade and so much more! And they make it incredibly easy to filter by size, color, price, and style so you can find what you’re looking for as quickly as possible. After you fill out your profile, every time you sign in to shop, you’ll find everything already organized by your preferences along with quick notes of how much the item originally cost along with it’s new price.
And thredUP is all about their customers so they work hard to triple inspect each item by hand to ensure all the clothes are like-new! I’ve purchased a ton of different items from thredUP and most of them even had the original tags still on them. When you place your thredUP order, you’ll receive a confirmation email with details of how much you saved, then all your items will arrive neatly folded and packaged in thredUP’s signature polka-dot box. Plus thredUP offers free shipping on qualified orders and easy returns if you’re not completely happy with your item.
When we booked our latest winter getaway to Phoenix to enjoy some time away from the snow, I knew I needed some warmer special looks for our romantic dinners out together. And instead of spending hundreds and maybe even thousands to find a couple perfect looks, I went straight to thredUP and instantly saved $1,258.06. Yes, $1,258.06 on two looks and I only spent a total of $289.94 on 6 items! I bought two amazing purses, two dresses, and two pairs of like-new shoes! And I’m so obsessed with all these items that I am already planning where I can wear them again once I get somewhere warmer!
For my first look on our Friday dinner date, I wore this dark green, bell sleeve Trafaluc by Zara dress that was originally $60 and was marked down to only $11.99. And I paired the dress with the cutest navy blue French Connection heels that were originally $149 marked down to only $24.99! How insane is that?! And to brighten up the look since we were going to be in a brighter, sunny place, I brought the whole look together with a floral pop Aldo bag, originally $70, marked down to $24.99! So instead of spending $279 on this one look, I only spent $61.97! So freaking awesome!
Then for our last evening in Phoenix, I brought out a dress that I’ve been SO EXCITED to wear. I wish I would have had this adorable dress for my wedding shower or bachelorette party because it made me feel so damn confident! When I found this Simone Rocha cutout dress, I instantly bought it before anyone else could get their hands on it. And I’m so glad I did since it was originally $1090 and I got it for only $196.99!! And to keep the look feeling warm and sunny, I found these Franco Sarto sandals marked down from $119 to only $14.99! And then I also found this absolutely amazing handbag for only $15.99, marked down from $60. For this whole look, it would have originally cost me $1,346.99 and I only spent $227.97. That’s a savings of $1,119.02. That’s so insane!!
With spring just around the corner, it’s the perfect time to start your spring shopping early and start refreshing your wardrobe while sticking with your budgeting goals you set in the New Year. It’s so easy to forget about those budgeting goals as the New Year progresses, but thredUP makes it so easy!! Just the other day when I recorded a listener questions episode on my podcast, I had a couple people ask where the best place to shop was if they are on a tight budget and I instantly said thredUP. thredUP lets you stick with a budget without having to give up your own style and taste. But even if you aren’t on a tight budget, why spend thousands of dollars on clothing that you can find for a fraction of that price?! You might as well save all that money and spend it on a vacation with a person you love! Think how far $1,258.06 can go in every day life. How many groceries you can buy, how many dinners you can go out to with, and how many hotel nights you could pay for!? Instead of spending thousands of dollars on clothing, spend it on experiences and keep that budget of yours in check!
And right now, thredUP is offering the first 100 PaleOMG readers an extra 30% off their first order! So not only can you stay on budget during your spring shopping, but you can also save even more! Click here to start shopping and enter the code PALEOMG30 at checkout (Applies to new US customers only, items under $150). But act fast because the code is no longer valid after the first 100 PaleOMG readers use it! If you haven’t shopped with thredUP yet, you’re about to be pleasantly surprised with how many amazing looks you’ll be able to put together and how much you’ll save along the way. I promise you, you’re going to be just as obsessed with thredUP as I am!

ThredUp is great for purchasing but I have to say that the prices they offer on items you send them are utterly ridiculous and have notably declined over the last few years. I recently sent a giant bag full of items from J Crew, J McLaughlin, Rag & Bone, Cole Haan, etc. all in very good condition (some even with tags) and I got $14 for it. It was absurd. A year or two prior a similar bag got me $200, which felt fair (and I enjoyed spending on the site). I will continue to buy for my kids from there, but will no longer send items to them – way better to unload those items on eBay or Poshmark or better yet, to donate and get the tax deduction for them instead. I certainly wasn’t expecting to get high prices for the items, but given the value of the bag was well north of $1000, the $14 I received just felt like robbery.
I completely agree. Although I love the concept of the site, the pricing has been discouraging to say the least. The first bag I sent I made pretty decent money which made me want to send in more. The last bag I sent, with several like new and new with tag items, received no pay out. What?! No thank you.
Do you think you could provide a discount code for existing ThredUp customers? I already started shopping there based on one of your previous posts, and it would be nice to shop there again and give you some credit. 🙂
no, i would definitely share the discount if i had one for existing customers
Juli, I’m so glad you shared this, I had never heard of thread up before and it’s so awesome!!! I got 9 things for $79 with your discount!!! Yay!

Would you every consider selling the clothes or get rid of on Poshmark? I am obsessed with your closet and would love to be able to get my hands on some of the clothes you’re getting rid of! Just a thought 🙂
i’ve thought about it many times, i just don’t have time to get all the clothes online and get the shipped out constantly
