Are you ready for summer as much as I am?! I’m over the clouds, over the sweaters, over the crockpot. I just want sun, a tan, and a really big floatie to bask in every single minute of summer. Remember when we used to be forced to go on summer break and now all we look forward to is maybe a Friday off in hopes of a long weekend…while still checking email the entire time?
Well that must stop. Just because we are adults doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy our summers too! It’s time to remember why we fell in love with summer in the first place and start getting outside, getting into our summer best and remembering why we adore the sun so much! Basically, it’s time to be a kid again.
If you’ve been following me for a while now, you’ve seen me post many times about ModCloth. Because they have EVERYTHING. They have dresses (many of which I wore during my wedding week in Jamaica), they have swimsuits, they have home decor. They have it all. I normally shop at ModCloth when I’m looking for a specific color dress for a special event, but I’ve also started to shop there for some fun outdoor summer essentials like this awesome white and gold pineapple pitcher and these amazing tropical cocktail glasses…because cocktails are way more fun when they look all summery and styled up!
But something that is even more fun than cocktail glasses is going back to our childhood roots…with pool floats. When I was growing up, the biggest pool float I had was one of those little donut shaped floats. All I did was pop my head in and out of it then when I wasn’t looking, it was quickly stolen by another bratty child. But nowadays, floats are bigger than ever! They are adult sized. The float industry is hella smart and they are trying to get us adults back to pool life. And I’m diving in!
A giant pineapple float? YES PLEASE! ModCloth is booming with floats right now! Swans, flamingos, and even toucans. Yes, toucans. So if you’re like me, not wanting to actually get fully in the water (I swam for 9 years, I’m cool with staying dry at this point) then these floats are for you! Just hop on, have someone pass you a cocktail and day dream away your vitamin D filled moment.
More Float Madness!
But floats aren’t the only thing you’ll find on ModCloth in their swimwear section. Nosirrybob. They have hats and sunglasses and sandals and beach towels and everything in between. As I get older, I want to wear hats all the time. Sure, I want my face to be tan, but I also want to be wrinkle free in the future while still enjoying the pool. So hats are now a necessity for me. This hat is my absolute favorite of the summer! It’s stretchy around the head with a big enough rim that it covers your face while you sit by the pool or lake!
They also have some bright, festive towels. I bought myself this one that is super soft and gigantic! Big floats, big towels, and you know I’m all about big sunglasses. These sunglasses are rimmed with flowers so you’ll instantly feel the flower power when you put them on! Yes, flower power is a real thing.
More Poolside Accessories!
But what we need to talk about ASAP is this bikini. Because honestly, I wouldn’t usually pick this bikini for myself. The colors aren’t my favorite colors, the cut is a little different than I usually go for. But I just said hell with it and grabbed it. I wanted to try something a little different. So I grabbed both sizes in a size small and they both fit like a glove! The little cut out in the front and criss cross back shows a little skin without showing too much. So if you’re not one to wear a normal triangle top that shows all yo’ goodies, well this is an awesome top for you! And the material is super stretchy and comfortable so you never feel like you’re pinched into something! ModCloth makes sure to share swimsuits for all body types whether you like high waisted, bikini, one piece or even throwback styles! And they have all sorts of different sizes to choose from! I’m linking my favorite bikinis below but be sure to check out all of the other styles ModCloth has to offer!

$100 for a towel, yikes!! super cute tho!
I love this bikini! I am really digging that stye of top this year. I totally agree with what you said on your snap. I want to be tan, but don’t want to get wrinkles and freckles.
Hi Juli! I have never noticed your tattoo before on your side 🙂 what is it? Love the blog, check it all the time! You crack me up on Snap.
YAAAS to the giant pineapple floatie. I’m also partial to the gold swan. Your swimsuits are SO amazing! I didn’t know modcloth had such good swimwear!
You are inspiring me to reach out to a crossfit gym in DC! The way you describe your story is almost exactly like mine, except I haven’t made a change. I’m super excited.
Have a FANTASTIC weekend!

Super cute bathing suit!
Juli, I’ve noticed your wedding band in a few recent posts and I just love it… absolutely stunning!!
Slaying that bikini!
I swam and did water polo in high school and I’m always saying how that kind of got the whole being in water concept out of my system. I feel you girl! I’m good to stay dry these days 😀
if you don’t land a modeling contract from these shots, somebody’s cra-cra!
Hey Juli!
LOVE this swimsuit on you! I recently started following your blog and am loving all of the content. My husband and I moved to Denver from Minneapolis in December, and I’ve loved following you on Instagram, as you have so many great recommendations for eats and treats around the Denver area. Being a health nut myself (and gluten-free and mostly dairy-free), this comes in really handy when we go out for date night! Thanks for all of your recommendations! 🙂
So I’m pretty sure I saw you at our apartment complex shooting these photos. I had taken my dogs outside and saw a pretty girl getting photographed in the pool earlier this week. I honestly did a double take and walked around again because I swore it was you (yep, you can call me that creeper – haha!). I couldn’t tell for sure, but I should’ve said hello, as it would’ve been great to meet you!
Anyway, I love following your journey and all of your storytelling, so thanks for providing a fun blog to follow. I am a blunt and honest woman, so it’s great to see others out there being true to their audience. I’m going to be starting my own blog soon (it’ll be food, fitness, and mindfulness content), so I’ll be sure to touch base with you when I do… It’d be fun to represent Denver together! Plus, it’s always good to meet a new friend that has a passion for fitness and scrumptious food. 😉
Cheers, girl! 🙂
hahaha i totally saw you! because you were literally (and thankfully) the only person out at that time. i had to get those photos done nice and early before it started raining that day lol luckily that pool is super warm! kinda glad you didn’t say hello, meeting someone for the first time while taking photos in a bikini is not my favorite situation to make a new friend haha!
Haha, that is too great! It was definitely dead by the pool, so you chose a good time to be out there. I’m in and out for work, so I just happened to be taking the dogs out at the time. Love all of the photos of Jackson, by the way! He looks so incredibly sweet, and I want a Frenchie one day. I’ll just oggle your photos of him, as 2 dogs is definitely enough for us! I’ll be sure to only say hello if you’re fully clothed next time, haha. Hopefully we do get to meet sometime, you seem to hang out at spots close to where we live. I’ll be sure to say hi if I see ya around and you are fully clothed! 😉
