Holiday parties are just around the corner…especially if you consider Halloween parties as holiday parties. I mean, they are pretty much the same. You dress up, you hang out with people you may not fully like, and there are treats involved. I have two Halloween parties to attend this weekend and I don’t really want to go to either of them because I know no treats will be involved. I hate that when you grow up, alcohol becomes the new treat. That’s not a treat to me. Edible cookie dough balls are. Luckily, those are in my fridge right now. Which means you’ll have the recipe tomorrow!
And with all the parties and treats comes dressing up and feeling your best at these holiday get-togethers. Whether you’re at the office or going to a Friendsgiving, you should feel your best in whatever you wear. But sometimes it feels like we are limited to dresses and well, I don’t always want to wear dresses! Especially when it’s cold outside. So today I’m showing you a holiday look from ModCloth with pieces that you can wear separately all winter long so they don’t have to go to waste!
I really love wearing different textures and patterns together so when I found this metallic pleated skirt, I knew I wanted a top that would stand out and be just as bold. So I scooped up this striped bell sleeve top to mix up the stripes and tuck into my skirt. And since I’m LOVING striped tops, I know I will be able to wear this one over and over. I can wear it with these high waisted distressed jeans that I wear weekly or tuck it into faux leather skirt and pair it with black pumps for a work appropriate outfit! Below I’m linking some tops and sweaters that you can wear in an every day look or dress up for a holiday party!
Tops For a Holiday (or Everyday!) Look
But what really makes this a fun holiday look is this metallic pleated skirt. I love high waisted skirts that cinch at the waist to give you a nice shape, but the pleats in this skirt give the body movement and demand the attention of a room. It would look super cute with this ruby velvet bodysuit or this emerald lace top. And all these pieces from ModCloth will always fit amazing because they choose amazing quality items for their site! Stand out this holiday season at all your parties and reuse your looks over and over in different ways! No more wasting money on a look you’ll wear only once. ModCloth will make sure you can wear your holiday-inspired outfits all season long! Hope this look inspires for your upcoming parties!

Love this skirt on you. Wish i could pull it off but im so short this length looks frumpy on me! uHHHH
haha well you can always alter the length! thanks for the love, karly!
I’m 100% with you – I will gladly pass up on alcohol, but you know I’m indulging in a few treats! At 29 (nearly 30) I don’t need nor want alcohol to be the center of a party any more. I want good food and good company and I’m set!
i’m right there with you!
This is totally unrelated…but didn’t you post once about a holy grail lip product you use? I am looking for something to cure my super dry and disgustingly flaky lips! Help!!!
Hey Lauren! I can tell you what help me the most – castor oil as treatment overnight or NUXE Reve de Miel Baume levres Balsam. As of lipstick, I really really enjoy the (relatively) new matte shakers from Lancome. They feel very comfortable on the lips (unlike most liquid lipsticks), they are longlasting and have a beautiful color selection. Hope that helps! 🙂

Thanks, Juli! You rock!
Could you give advice on what shoes to wear to a formal wedding in November? Close- toed? And let me know if you have any suggestions of where to buy them!
i would just probably wear a pair of pumps! i can’t really say what would be the best pair not knowing what you’re wearing though
Hey Bailey! Juli is obviously the fashion goddess here, but I’ll share my rule of thumb. If you’re wearing a simple dress, pick a fun/fancy shoe, and if your dress is really embellished or eye-catching, choose a simple shoe. But most importantly, make sure you can dance in your shoes! Because isn’t that the whole point of going to a wedding?
