I think a lot of us out there are looking for pieces of clothing for our wardrobe that we can wear over and over in different ways. Sure, it’s fun to have a statement piece that we can wear once or twice a year, but clothing that is versatile is just way more realistic. And that seems to be one of the biggest requests on my blog – people want to know how to style one piece of clothing multiple ways. So that’s exactly what I have for you today. Today I’m sharing how I style a simple black dress. And what I love about this simple black dress is that it’s at the perfect length for fall to dress up or dress down. Which means you can wear it with heels or flats or even booties. In this first look, I styled the black dress with a cozy cardigan, my favorite booties of the season, and a floppy hat to cover up the greasy hair I have washed in days. You could also style this dress with a chunky striped sweater on top or with some sort of lightweight fall coat you’re loving this season!

Next up is a super casual way to style the dress – with a moto jacket and a pair of sneakers. Since this dress is midi length, it goes great with heavier styles on top for the colder days in fall. This means a chunky blanket scarf or even a poncho are great for throwing on top to stay warm while giving the legs a little extra breathing room before they are covered up for the winter.

Then lastly, you can simply take this dress up a notch and wear it to work or even to a special event like a wedding. Since this dress comes a little lower cut (especially if you pull it down like me to show the girls – what up ladies!), you can show off some skin if you prefer, while still not showing all of it because of the midi length. I have a wedding coming up this weekend and I still haven’t decided what to wear, so this LBD is my back up plan! All you need is a simple pair of pumps and a fun pair of earrings and you’re good to go!

There you have it! Three different ways to style one simple dress that is sure to make you feel amazing! And guess what? It’s only $69! So affordable for how high quality the dress is! It runs a little big so I ordered it in an XS and it fits like a glove! Hopefully this helps you get creative in your own closet and excited about styling some looks this coming fall!

I neeeed that chunky grey sweater you’re wearing in my life!!
i’ll definitely share the link as soon as it’s available!!
Loved this post–I have a similar dress and love the various ideas. Would you consider doing a post with skirts for fall? I have a few, and never know what kind of boots/flats to wear with them if I’m not pairing them with heels.
i probably won’t have a post about it because I already have my posts planned out BUT I love fall skirts so definitely keep an eye on my instagram page for ideas!
Adorable looks. I was trying to find your measurements on the blog to gauge what size to order. I am a size 6, and I do not want a body con look. Would you suggest a Small or Medium? Thanks!
i’m between a 2 and 4 and bought it in a XS
