I am really lucky to have grown up and still live in a place that has so many activities to do outdoors. I would say #blessed but then I would have to go on hating myself. But I really am lucky to have grown up outside: climbing on things, biking everywhere, and lifting my bodyweight onto anything I could. I always loved the outdoors and as I got into my teenage years, I spent most of my afternoons running the steps and bleachers at Red Rocks.
But as I’ve gotten older, most of my workouts are in my CrossFit gym or in an Orange Theory gym or a Barre Studio or Fierce45 studio. And then I’m back to my kitchen to cook indoors all day. So I spend lots of time indoors. But the best thing about summer is being able to make up any sort of workout outside and actually enjoy the fresh air.
Every week in my Monday Weekly Workouts post, I share a workout you can do in a home gym or while traveling, many of which are completely bodyweight workouts (no equipment needed). So if you’re not a person who loves the gym or if you just want to do something on your own, you can easily throw on a pair of Nike Free and get after any workout outside, no matter what stage of fitness you are at!
There are SO many movements and workouts you can do outside. You can run sprints around the track, you can run stairs or bleachers, you can squat, box jump, push up, lunge, crunch, stretch, climb, and whatever else your mind can think up! When you have the outdoors, when you have a beautiful landscape and when you have a little bit of ambition, any workout can be a good one!
I just snagged a pair of these Nike Free TR 6 and I’m able to do anything in them! I’ve taken them to my CrossFit gym, out for a run (short, because that’s my style), and now to Red Rocks to really test them out! They’re flexible while still stable and stay completely in place with any jump or kick or whatever I found myself doing on the stairs there! And they even have a molded foam that enhances the support and fit, so your foot is always comfortable!
I loved wearing these leggings that also come in grey and blue! No see through bum, no falling down AND they are high waisted so they keep everything in place! And if you’re looking for a sports bra that will keep the hunnies nice and snug, try the Nike Pro Rival sports bras that keep everything in place while doing what you love!
Can we just talk about this background below for a second? I mean COME ON! Working out outside is 10 million times better than staring at yourself in a mirror or staring at a blank wall. I wish Red Rocks would let you bring a sleeping bag to cuddle up in and spend the night under the stars. But I think that’s called trespassing. Pretty sure.

you know you’re big time when you’ve been sponsored by Nike!! wow! congrats. I’ve been to Red Rocks many times for concerts since moving to Denver but had never been for a workout until literally yesterday afternoon…even on a random Thursday morning, the energy & atmosphere of people all there to get their sweat on was so cool! not to mention that view 🙂
as always, you look amazing!
Need those leggings in my life ASAP! I make a point to workout outside a few times a week during the summer. After being trapped in an office all day NOTHING feels better than sweating in the sunshine.
So which athletic bra/pants/sportswear do you like best?
I understand the need for sponsorship but it seems like you’ve touted a lot of the same, just different brands. I was all on the VS sports bra wagon after reading your post, ordered one, hated the fit and returned. Ordered a gob smack of bombass socks (like). Was in the market for a mattress but wasn’t quite sold on your regurgitation of Intellibeds adverts ( bed in a box is awesome).
Love the overall food content of the blog but have grown leery of the latest and greatest sponsorship plugs.
well you do have to remember that you’re not going to love everything i love. i don’t rep anything that i don’t like or don’t use myself, i promise you that. i wear VS, nike, lulu, zella, etc and i wear all of those on a regular basis. i sleep in that intellibed every night and i love those socks, i just wear no show ones more. so everything i plug is what i believe in. that being said, you have to find the best sports bra that works for YOUR boobs. not all boobs are the same. i love nike, VS and even not as supportive bras, so i tell you about those, but you aren’t going to love it all. just like my outfits, i don’t expect you to love them all, which is why i sport so many different outfits because different people are going to like different things. no need to be leery, just understand that you’re not exactly the same as i am.
Just wanted to chime in and say that Colorado is pretty freaking awesome. I was there last year for a friend’s wedding in Denver, and we also visited Red Rocks, Boulder and Rocky Mountain National Park. We loved all of it. Your photos make me wish I was back there, and I’m so jealous of people who can just go work out at Red Rocks on the regular. We ate at Quiero Arepas based on your recommendation, Juli, and I’m pretty sure we would go back to Denver just for those arepas. 🙂
Love working out in the great outdoors. Also these pants are to die for. This bra looks like a Madonna cone bra. 😉 Rocking it lady!
I am so looking forward to visiting Colorado this fall, Boulder/Broomfield area and then visiting areas that are great for hiking. I can’t wait to see Red Rocks. That is a must on our list while we are there. I wish I could just move there. I think I would love everything about it. From the healthy food that is available year round to the outdoors to all the activities you can do there. Maybe I’ll run into you while I’m there! (Fat chance but a girl can hope!)
