I’m always asking people on my website and social media what they want to see more of. And when I reached out on instagram stories recently, a handful of people asked for more affordable clothing. And even though 90% of the items I purchase are under $100, I decided to push it a little farther to see where I could find beautiful style all in one place while saving as much as possible along the way. And I think I’ve found the perfect place. Because guess what? This entire outfit cost me just a little over $100 but I also saved over $100 all thanks to the amazing deals at JCPenney.

Something I hear from my sister-in-law regularly is how hard it is to find cute and stylish work attire, especially at an affordable price. Because let’s face it – work is only a small piece of our lives so most of us don’t want to spend our entire paycheck on those items we only wear so often. And even though my work attire is usually pajamas or workout clothes, I still understand what she’s going through. So today it’s all about finding outfits for work that make you feel amazing, that are outside the normal boring work attire box, and that save you as much as possible so you can use that money for more fun things…like food and cocktails. Duh.

Since the weather seems to be quite hesitant about changing with the fall months, it’s a great time to pull some warm-weather feels into your fall attire. Which pretty much just means have fun with your look! Mix some pops of color and different patterns with muted pieces and staple items. At JCPenney, it’s easy to find high-quality, stylish pieces for the business woman who loves to save. And you can find amazing brands like a.n.aBelle + SkyWorthington and Liz Claiborne. When I did a little work attire shopping, I found this Liz Claiborne Pink Purse marked down from $65 to only $32.50 and even more marked down when using a special code!  That means I got this purse for only $27.62! That’s 60% off!! I also got these Journee Collection Adley Black Pumps marked down from $65 to only $42.49!

Yes!! Thank you for this post. As a gal on a budget, I tend to shop at JC Penney, Target, Kohl’s, Old Navy.. etc. More budget friendly posts like these!

This is exactly me! Most of my wardrobe is Old Navy, Target, etc!

I love JCP, always have good luck there, and often get off season items for less than $10 on clearance using coupons that they make so easy to use. For whatever reason, I rarely find things I like or things that fit at Target and Kohls. Sometimes I find things at Old Navy.

This is wonderful Juli! Thanks for thinking of us gals on a budge. An idea for a future post, maybe one on footwear. Cute, some affordable, some treat worthy styles.. but also work appropriate flats. My chiropractor recently told me NO MORE HEELS, which is no fun. And you have fun style, so if you can find fun non heels and incorporate that in a post one Friday, that would be groovy. Thank you!

This was such a great post, Juli! I’d love to see other posts like these. I just went back to work after 10 years off so I’m still building my work wardrobe. I don’t like to spend a lot of money on clothes, so I mostly buy from Old Navy and Kohl’s. I agree with others..I’d love to see you work your style-magic at other affordable stores!

One last thing…this new podcast called Uncover: Escaping NXIVM. Sooooo good!!

    Have a great weekend!

The skirt is super cute. I work in academia–I teach English–and even though there is a very “liberal” or “open minded,” I guess, notion of what’s workplace-appropriate, that top would be way too risque and would be highly inappropriate (along with all the other off-the-shoulder tops you linked) even in a college English classroom! I can imagine that even if a person were to throw a cardigan over it all the skin in the halter-like straps up top would be way too office inappropriate. But the idea–form-fitting black top, maybe with a little bit of ruffle or some fun and feminine detail partnered with an on-trend pencil skirt and a bright pop of color in a handbag–is excellent!!!

This is a great post! Affordable clothing that is still cute and stylish is sometimes daunting. Thank you Juli!

Hi Juli! I would LOVE a post about work-appropriate fall/winter athleisure wear. I just started a new job in a very laid back office (no dress code) and usually bike to work, do crossfit on my lunch, and bike back home after work . I am looking for some good ideas so that I don’t have to pack a closet in my backpack on my bike ride! I have been scouring your blog and love the “from workouts to cocktails” post, but I would LOVE some more ideas 🙂

    Thanks!
