Today on the podcast, I’m talking about the last couple weeks, things I’ve learned, and how I’m trying to improve moving forward. Then I’m giving some updates on Jackson and the bean protocol I’ve been on for about a month now!

So you think you’re basically done with coffee forever??
pretty much. i’ll probably have some decaf coffee when i’m on vacation or just in the mood, but i think i’m done with it sadly
Hi Juli,
I listened to your podcast the other day, totally curious about how the bean protocol was going. I’m sure you get a million recommendations for acne products but felt you needed just one more;) I have battled adult acne in the past (cystic/hormonal) but have been acne free for 2 years now. Totally frustrated, I finally connected with Leah who owns Essence of L in White Rock BC. Having suffered from acne herself, she created her own products and knows every single comedogenic ingredient out there. I have only used her products and any others that she had completely ok’d and my 46-year-old skin is hella stable thanks to her…and like you said it is also internal and she recommends certain supplements that help as well. I can’t recommend her more!
xo,
Carrie
Thanks so much for your bean updates, Juli! You mentioned a “fruit-free kinda life”. Is that because of preference or part of the protocol? Thanks for all you do!!!
thanks for listening Megan! no sugar of any kind, including fruit, is part of the protocol. I didn’t really eat that much fruit to begin with, but now i’m staying away from it all together
Hey Juli! Thanks for sharing about the anti racism work you’re undertaking. I’m a non Black woman of colour and I get that it’s hard to reconcile all the seemingly conflicting advice to both “shut up and listen to Black voices” and also speak up against racism. It makes sense that it’s disingenuous to suddenly pretend to be an expert on issues you’re just learning about and I hear you as I’m in the same boat. But I wonder if you as an influencer have a slightly different role than the average person because when you share what you do, it normalizes it to people who might not be so inclined. It might be the push they need to read that book, donate a few dollars, watch that documentary. I know when I hear about the same product or book or movie from multiple sources (both friends and ppl I don’t know who I follow on Instagram) it does make me pause and go hmmm maybe I should check that out. Just a thought. Have a nice day!
thanks for your insight Bernice!
