While I was in Bali, I had my first ever astrology reading and it was one of the coolest experiences of my life. She nailed down what my childhood was like, my relationship with my mom, why I’m scared to have children, and even my job! And she also did the same for my husband. He was SUPER skeptical going in and left a complete believer. It was such an amazing experience so I’m recapping our entire hour session in this podcast episode. And what’s super cool is that you can book a skype call with her even if you’re not in Bali and want to experience her reading, too! Click here to head to her website and book an appointment. She changed my life in many ways already and she may do the same for you!

Oh, Hi! I’m Juli.

I’m a food hoarder. And a really bad dancer. If you don’t know me well, you will probably not understand my humor. Therefore, I apologize ahead of time. Thanks for listening to my ramblings of my ever-changing life and trusting my kitchen mishaps. Your trust in me is appreciated.

  1. Juli!!

I loved hearing your experience about your astrology reading. Isn’t it so cool to have something not even be on your radar and then all the sudden you discover it and you’re like, holy shi%, how did I live without this until now??? As an OG reader, I’ve always had a feeling when you did come across this stuff you’d love it!!! I too am a Taurus with soooo many similarities in my chart to you, and a husband who thinks I’m nuts as Fu** about this stuff LOL. Well not really, he’s coming around. Just as your husband did, it’s hard to deny this stuff!

I’m a Colorado gal too btw. As Taurus, we totally love our luxury, comfortable things (attire, blankets, cozy spaces), we are stubborn AF, etc. But we are also some of the most passionate, loving, loyal (to a fault) friends/partners out there! People are lucky to have us 🙂

The woo-woo rabbit hole is REAL! I never in a million years thought I’d get into this stuff. After a traumatic experience with religion as a late teen/young adult, I never thought I’d find such a grounding, spiritual place ever again. But with all these tools (astrology, you’ve GOT to check out human design and find out what your type is—if you think astrology is cool you’ll flip your shit at how cool human design is). There’s so many cool synchronicities with the woo that honestly have brought me so much peace, but also it makes like that much more fun! And not because you “know your future” but tapping into our intuition and living more from that place I’ve found is way more enjoyable and I trust myself completely.

Anyway, thanks for sharing! Always fun to hear about other people’s “first time” down the rabbit hole 🙂

    1. that’s exactly what i love about it – i feel like it’s brought me such peace, just from that one reading. i was able to look at myself and my life from a different viewpoint and understand what needed to change and what i needed to work on. it just honestly made feel more spiritual and grounded than i ever have in the past. i’ve never been religious, but this made me feel more connected to the earth someway. it sounds so woowoo, but it’s true! and i love it! definitely want to check out human design!

  2. Yes, I too have had astrology readings and I do believe some people are gifted with a very strong intuition. I’ve had three in the last 4 years. Took me 6 months to get an appointment with the last one since she’s so popular. They were all spot on about me, my career and the men in my life. The readings are entertaining, intriguing, fun and a bit therapeutic. It’s quite insightful when someone who does not know you at all tells you all your good and bad characteristics.

But I will not do it again. I heard a few things that lingered in my head for too long and I now over think it.

Loved the post on Bali – I had the same sentiment when I went 2 years ago and the jet lag coming home was the worst I’ve ever had!

  3. Ooh my goodness. I am childfree and my heart is racing listening to this haha. One of my biggest fears! But damn, if I had to give up my own comfort and give things up for 9 months, my partner can sure as hell give up alcohol if it helped. I guess I am that bitch.
This was fun to listen to, as always. Excited to find out what Brian’s next phase turns out to be.

  4. Hey Juli! I would be skeptical, but from your feedback, I’m intrigued! Which reading option did you choose or recommend to get so much information?

  5. I’m really skeptical about astrology and see it more as entertainment than anything, but wow great sounds like you had an amazing experience!

How weird about the whole becoming a mother thing! I obviously don’t know you personally, but from what I can tell, I agree that you’d be an awesome mom!

  6. I’m kind of with your sister-in-law on this one! I had a reading done when I was in college (~15 years ago) and hated how I felt afterward! I really don’t want someone else’s preconceived notions of how my life will turn out. And couldn’t you observe the same things about yourself that she pointed out? Not trying to be negative, but you asked for thoughts! 🙂

    1. why did you hate how you felt afterwards?? that’s such a bummer! I felt refreshed! it just felt like she gave me better insight into things I already knew but didn’t quite understand. it was almost like when you talk to a therapist and they help you unpack different issues you have. she somehow gave me tools to work on myself while giving me excitement for the future. for me, a person who is not religious whatsoever and has no real feelings of a connection to an afterlife or outside source, it was almost a spiritual experience that made me feel more connected to the earth and it’s plan. i don’t know, i just loved it!

  7. I’ve had a few readings in my life, though not all has come true. I remember one time seeing a woman who knew SO MUCH about me, my personality, and things that had happened to me, and was adamant that I’d one day live in England and be a writer. Well, that was 5 years ago, and I’m neither living in England, with no plans to do so, nor a professional writer.

Another time, my partner and I both saw the same medium, one that her and her mom had been going to for years, and this was at a time when I was strongly considering a year-long volunteer abroad program. During my session, we talked about the experience and how great it was going to be for me. Then my partner had her reading and was told that I wouldn’t be doing it. Ultimately, I ended up not doing it, but at the time was frustrated that the medium acted with me like I would be doing it.

My partner said that mediums will tell us the messages that we need to hear at the time, not necessarily what is actually going to happen. I thought that was interesting.

It’s been about 3 years since I’ve seen a medium and I don’t think they had a profound impact on me, but were fun at the time. To me, they have helped me understand myself or my relationships to others but not much of what they have predicted has come true.

My favorite was doing a past life reading – I highly recommend that if your Bali lady does it!!

  8. Julie – do you know anyone else who’s done this with your lady? was their experience as profound as yours? so funny that you mentioned it – I was just thinking about doing something like this for my spouse for his birthday – but I get nervous about it being uncomfortable – I’ve grown to trust your recommendations!

  9. I couldn’t figure out how to reply underneath my comment above! But anyway, I didn’t really like it because then the medium’s predictions for my future were always there and caused me to overthink my decisions. The predictions weren’t super negative, but there was one thing that always stuck with me that was something I couldn’t control and didn’t like. It sort of came true but not in the way I was thinking at the time. I guess I would have liked it more if I liked the predictions! I’ve also never been one to plan out my life or even have a 5-year plan, so just that little preconceived notion of how my life would turn out wasn’t my cup of tea.

    1. i could totally see that messing with someone. i guess i just didn’t see it like that, but I could see where that could happen with people.

  10. I find astrology to be fun and interesting. I contacted Sarah after listening to your pod. We emailed back and forth and scheduled a call (tonight) after I sent payment via PayPal. Today Sarah emailed saying she gave my spot away and didn’t receive payment. I sent proof of payment and haven’t heard a thing.

I’m writing bc I’m not sure if anyone had this issue with her for distance readings.

I’m so glad it was a good experience for you.

    1. oh no!! no i haven’t heard of anyone having this issue, everyone who has contacted her has loved the reading and had no issue! have you had any new communication with her yet??

  11. I went to Bali a couple of weeks ago and as soon as I saw your post I had to book Sarah! This was my first astrology reading too, and all I can say is WOW! She was SPOT on with everything in my life – it was crazy! She is so sweet. Thank you for posting this (And all of your recipes). I have read your blog for years and I love everything you do!
