I’m leaving for Austin today!! I’m so excited to go. It’s been almost a year since I’ve seen most of my blogging friends. And last year I was the newbie on the block who didn’t know anyone at PaleoFx, so I was quieter than usual. This year, that will not be the case. Especially since I’m speaking on a panel about desserts. That should be funny. A sure controversial topic, that one will be.
Anywho, since it’s in the 80’s in Austin, I planned ahead. Meaning I got a spray tan. Please do not tell me that spray tans are full of chemicals and I will die. I’m trying to be better and not hop in tanning beds every day. Mostly because I’m lazy and don’t like being still for 10 minutes while sweating. Makes no sense to me. So I got a spray tan spur of the moment. Problem was, I had really planned it all out. I still planned on working out that day. And wearing all those spandex clothes. Well, if you’ve had a spray tan before, you know how the skin can look rather orange at first. And if you’ve ever worked out right after a spray tan, you know things can get streaky. And that’s exactly what happened with me. But not just a couple steaks, no no. After I worked out, my friend Ashley said “what is wrong with your neck??” So I went straight to the bathroom to see what sort of look my spray tan had taken on. Oh.My.Lord. Ok picture this. You know the movie Carrie? After they dump pigs blood on her head? Well that’s what my neck looked like. But in brown. So like I was covered in poo. Swimming in poo. Really good look.
Thankfully, the steaks have gone away. Along with most of my tan. Shame. I’ll just keep acting like I’m tan and maybe the pigments of my skin will take on that color. Seems realistic. Oh, I also dyed my hair darker. Not that you knew or cared that it was lighter, but I’ve been putting more and more blonde in it over the past few months and I finally got sick of it. Even though I’m natural blonde, it doesn’t feel right. I swear my skin color rejects blonde. So I’m back to darker hair and love it. Fact of the day. You’re welcome.
Jackson update!! For any of you that care, since my stories have been so thrilling today, Jackson (my French bulldog puppy) is getting closer and closer to being potty trained. I’m still not sure if he completely understands that he has to pee outside, but he’s getting there. The one thing he definitely doesn’t understand is that eating quickly, meaning swallowing everything whole including a crap ton of air, doesn’t do a puppy good. The other night, he ate so quickly that he was completely bloated and super restless. He kept whimpering and I knew something was wrong. The more I looked into it, the scarier the information became. I had no idea a dog could possibly die from eating too much/too fast. So I barely slept a wink just listening to his breathing and taking him out to the bathroom every two hours. It was so sad. But he’s fine now and we invested in a slow eating bowl to make him take his time and remember the breathe. Wanna see how happy he is? Ok!!

So excited about Paleo f(x)!!! I have to be there at the ass crack of dawn tomorrow, well today since it’s 12:46 a.m, for set up. And i live in San Antonio!!! Gotta get some sleep! Anyway, I love all of your recipes and can’t wait to listen to your panel about paleo desserts!
Super excited for Paleo F(x)!!! I’m sure you will do well (and be hilarious)!!!
Are you feeding Jackson in a paleo/grain-free/raw fashion? There are some great sources out there from “our” paleo-ish community. Tasty Yummies comes to mind right away. Just a thought!!
Cheers!!
So wish you had a picture of the streaky spray tan! but that kind of sucks too because those things are not cheap! think tan and you’ll be tan that’s a good attitude. Glad Jackson is okay! Losing sleep over pets/kids/things we are responsible for is never fun.
Recipe looks great and anything I can put homemade mayo on is 5 stars so thanks!
That salad looks so fresh and delicious, very summery! I’ll have to give it a try!
I don’t want to sound pompous by bringing up spelling and grammar. On the contrary, I actually love that you kept spelling “steaks” instead of “streaks”. Which makes me hungry. Which is kind of the point of a cooking blog. Freudian slip? Hahaha, but really, I love your recipes and, most importantly, Jackson!
Love your blog! Have tried some really amazing recipes, my fave being the Chocolate Coffee Chia pudding, sooooo delish!
Anyway, could you do this recipe with dried dill? Have all the ingredients to make it *now* except fresh dill. And me no want to go to grocery store 🙁 thanks!
absolutely!! the flavor just wouldn’t be as intense
OMG he is too adorable!!! Have fun in Austin. BTW…salad looks delish and lite…will make tonight.
I’m headed to Austin too!! How crazy. It’s the perfect time of year to go, too. The bluebonnets are out, and it isn’t too hot. I hope you have a wonderful time!
My friend’s dog (not a puppy though) eats super fast too. They actually pour his dry food on a sheet pan to help slow him down.
Jackson looks like a manatee in this picture…omg he is cuter than cute! I too would have liked a picture of your neck. Enjoy the 80’s in Austin! I am jealous!
