Today on the blog…things get a bit emotional. After going through a huge health scare with Jackson, I’m really beating myself up for multiple reasons, mainly not getting dog insurance after we dropped Nationwide since they completely screwed us over. I’m sure you’ll hear the angst in my voice in this episode. Thanks for letting me cry to you, you kind soul.

Thanks for this post! I’ve been following you for many years, and we love Jackson so much. My fiancé and I actually got to meet him one day in Wash Park (he was there with your SIL) and we were both so excited! We’re praying for a speedy recovery for him, and thanks for sharing this experience with us. I just signed up with Trupanion just in case. I already spent $7K on my Golden Oliver a few years ago, and would have loved to have insurance for it. Your podcast served as the reminder that I needed. You’re the best! Prayers for Jackson!
GOOD!! that’s exactly what i wanted! i’m still kicking myself for not getting it. you’ll be so happy you have it if anything comes up in the future!
Thank you for taking the time to put out a podcast this week. I’m sure I speak for many readers/listeners when I say that we’re thinking of you and Jackson during this difficult time. What Nationwide put you through is just wrong, period. I can’t imagine the stress of dealing with a very sick pup and exorbitant vet bills. But please take this to heart – I’ve never known anyone who loves and cares for their pet as much as you do Jackson. You are not to blame in any way for letting Jackson jump off the couch or go down the stairs, and it makes me hurt for you that you feel any guilt about that. He was just doing what doggies do every day of their lives! You are an amazing Mom to Jackson, Juli. He seems like a tough little guy who will recover from this and continue to live his best doggie life, YOLO’ing and Live Laugh Loving 😉Sending you warm thoughts this week, along with my Goldendoodle Timber and Miniature Schnauzer Theodora 🐶🐶
oh Bethany, you just made me cry. thank you so much for listening to the podcast and for writing such a sweet note. he’s definitely a stubborn and tough guy so hopefully he continues to fight through all this and this situation just feels like a small blip in time soon
Last year on New Year’s Eve, my dog went out to pee and tore her ACL in the snow (it was slippery). Took her to the vet and the doctor said it might heal on its own and since she could still walk with a limp, surgery wasn’t necessary at the time but if we wanted to do it, the repair would be $5,000. Not even a month later, she tore her other ACL in the yard so both her hind legs were useless. It was so sad seeing her with both bind legs just limp and I just fet so helpless! We ended up doing a double ACL surgery which cost $6,000. It was kind of a good thing we waited to do it because the single tear was 5k and if she was just gonna tear another one in a month, another 5k would have been a hard hit. We are super careful with her jumping up and down off the couch and going outside to pee since she has metal in her legs now and god knows that I cant afford a other surgery. I don’t have pet insurance but am glad you put Nationwide on blast so others can avoid getting scammed by them. Hope Jackson gets to come home really soon and gets back to his usual self.
Just listened to your podcast about Nationwide and the screwing you over. If you have not done this already, leave your comments on Yelp. I have had to do this in the past, and t his ALWAYS gets a response ASAP. Try it and let us all know if this helps. My thoughts are with you and Jackson, and we all wish him a speedy recovery. Dogs are the best friends ever!!!
i definitely need to!
I remember you posting on IG about switching pet insurance but can’t remember which one it was? Thanks!
