Happy Friday, everyone!! It’s a special Friday because I’m stressed as old balls with this upcoming book release and book tour. So when I say special, I mean zits, it’s a zit kind of Friday. I haven’t broken out in probably a year now, but my body is saying, “Calm the f*ck down, Juli, or we will punish you.” A the punishment is happening. I feel like a teenager again. Who am I kidding, I feel like a 24 year old again. Damn acne. I CURSE THE DAY YOU WERE BORN. Anyone know what movie that’s from?
Anywho, I want to tell you about something special. Because my publisher is the best publisher ever, they have agreed to do something pretty damn cool. In honor of celebrating the release of my newest baby Juli Bauer’s Paleo Cookbook, I also want to celebrate my little baby who’s been the greatest joy in my life: my little Jackson. Not all animals are as lucky as him to have a loving home. So to bring light to some of those who aren’t as fortunate as him, my publisher and I wanted to do something really special, I mean REALLY special!
If you preorder a copy of my new cookbook between now and midnight on August 17, my publisher will donate 100 percent of their profit from those orders to an animal charity of my choice. I’ve been looking into different charities and I’m still trying to figure out which one would be the perfect fit but I will definitely keep you updated.
If you’re planning on attending one of my upcoming events, not to worry, you can go into the store and preorder your copy and they will hold it for you until we can get together for my book signing!
Having Jackson in my life has brought me so much joy and so many amazing memories, that I want to make sure that is possible for other dogs and families. Huge thank you to Victory Belt Publishing for making this possible. Here are some of the sites you can preorder from to support an animal charity:
{ Barnes & Noble | Indigo | Amazon | Walmart }
Now let’s get started on some outfits! As I said before, I head out on book tour next week. And since I’ll be heading on the road for 12 or 13 days, I have A LOT of outfits planned. And zit cream bottles to pack. I’ll need regular day outfits, workout outfits, book tour outfits, and a sh*t ton of shoes. Below this weeks outfits I’ll be sharing exactly what I’ll be packing in my suitcase, first for my day-to-day outfit and then what I have planned for book tour outfits!
I just recently got this jacket because I wanted something light to transition from summer to fall and because I wanted something that was longer. Most of my jackets go to my waist or middle of the butt, but I don’t have any light, long ones. When I found this jacket online, I was worried that it was going to be pretty crap-tastic since it was so cheap, but it really isn’t! It’s a great material that I will be taking with me on a plan rides and for evenings out in every city on book tour!
Tee | Jacket | Similar Jeans One & Two | Flats | Sunglasses
We had one rainy, gloomy and cool day in Colorado this week and it reminded me that HOLY SH*T, it’s September soon. Which means I will be dreaming of pumpkin spice and baking and outfits will soon be long sleeve. Hence why the pieces I’m sharing with you this week are perfect transitional outfits to help you welcome fall with open arms. This top is from 3 years ago but I found it again! along with a short sleeve AND a tank top, if you’re just not ready to take fall on quite yet!
Top | Similar Scarf | Jeans | Similar Booties | Purse | Sunglasses
This top is a tank that I will definitely be bringing on book tour with me. Because you can dress it up for an out to dinner night or just wear it with a comfy pair of jeans and some flats. It’s pretty thin and cuts up closer towards the neck so it reveals a little more skin in all the right places. I just love this top! I wish they had more colors because I would totally buy more!
Top | Jeans | Heels | Necklace | Sunglasses
While I’m packing my suitcase for book tour, I’m thinking about staying as comfortable as possible. That means lots of flats, flip flops, t-shirts, dresses and jeans. I plan on only being uncomfortable while doing a book signing. I’m not even going to act like I prefer to wear heels to flats. That would be a lie. So here’s what you’ll be seeing in my “comfy clothes” side of the suitcase.
For the uncomfortable side, you’ll be finding book tour outfits. Still haven’t fully decided which outfit I’m going to wear to which city and I’m still figuring out shoes, but here’s an idea of what you’ll be seeing in some of the cities.
Are you coming to visit me on the first leg of my book tour?!

Just pre-ordered my copy and I know it will be AMAZEBALLS!!!! I already absolutely adored you for your food, fit, and fashion sense along with your hilarious personality, but seeing that you and your publisher are donating to a cause that’s dear to my heart only makes me love ya that much more!!!
I think it’s great you are donating to the shelter! Thanks to you, and your publisher for doing that.
Victoria and Nancy – I couldn’t disagree with you more. There isn’t anything hypocritical about what Juli is doing. If you are looking for a label, might I suggest ‘philanthropic’. I’m disappointed that anyone would suggest that there was a thread of negativity associated with this extremely generous gesture on the part of Juli or her publisher. As an individual working in a corporate environment, I am extremely grateful that the idea of social responsibility has become a widespread philosophy that serves to benefit the community I live in, irrespective of what the corporations’ ‘motivation’ might be to make those donations in the first place. Perhaps you should consider the impact of the comments you make with respect to inspiring others to follow in Juli’s footsteps; thankfully, based on the person I suspect Juli is (I.e. strong and confident)
, your hurtful comments won’t derail her path to assist those in need. Juli – you deserve a pat on the back and not a slap in the face. Keep up what you are doing. You are providing a free service daily to us all and now you are working to protect our most helpless little fur friends! I’m 100% rooting for you girl!! Xoxo (mic drop)
Hey Juli!
Love your Fashion Fridays! I can’t wait for your book to come and to meet you in SD! Love what your doing with the animals! You are my idol!
I was wondering what products you use for your skin because you have perfect skin! I am paleo and still have some acne. I know that if I stay off ALL sugar then my face will clear up but I only detox once in a while and hoping you could guide me to the right products because I have tried everything! Thank you so much!
Juli,
Looking forward to seeing you in Boston next Friday night! Question please. I LOVE that you and the publisher are doing a donation to an animal shelter. I pre-ordered your book on Amazon weeks ago. Should I cancel and re-order so those proceeds will go to the charity you choose?
I love that you love your Jackson so very much as do I my Tucker, my love bug, and you want to help other animals not as fortunate as Jackson and Tucker. You gave a wonderful dog a fabulous home. End. Of. Story.
And of course you look fab as usual this week.
See you next week!
~Jill
sorry i’m just getting back to you now jill!! that was so thoughtful of you. hopefully you just got your book today and love it! either way, there will definitely be donations heading to a charity soon!
I imagine these folks would love to have your donation 🙂 It might be fun for them to bring a rescue or two to your signings.

Having been involved with breed rescue for a very long time, I can tell you we would beg, borrow and steal to save those dogs. So you go girl!
I agree that it was her personal choice. And really lots of dogs get rescued from bad breeders too. So don’t buy her book until after August 17th if you don’t like the idea. I don’t always like her outfits but I don’t tell her!!!’n
While everyone is entitled to their own opinions the fact is, while she may have not ‘adopted’ or ‘rescued’ her dog she is choosing a rescue to donate to. The fact that she cares and loves her dog should be the most understood part here. Whether a dog comes from a breeder, rescue, or shelter, not all homes are loving. My dog, who I rescued from the pound, was ORIGINALLY bought from a breeder. The family thought she was too playful with their chihuahua so they took her to the pound. Regardless of where she got her dog, she’s entitled to have her dog and any other future dogs any way she pleases. You are all losing sight that she is still supporting resuces!!!! Would it be hypocritical for someone to birth their own child and then support fostered children?! No! Who cares about how the animal was placed in her life, the fact is whether an animal is from a breeder or shelter, they ALL need homes and love. Be happy for this amazing woman who has been putting dinner on our tables for the past few years and who puts dedication and hard work in her blog and deserves to sell out her books! She ks phenomenal and outstanding. Get off your soap box and smile for her efforts!
Samantha, I was thinking the same thing as you when I read all these negative comments. Would you call a family hypocritical if they gave birth to there own children AND adopted or fostered? (And I myself am adopted and went through foster care.)
Julie I’m super excited for your book release and tour, congratulation on all you’ve accomplished through these past few years and thank you for all you’ve shared with us!!!
Wow, lot of sh#t flying around. Juli you are an amazing person. End of story! Each time I check your website for recipes and read your stories it inspires me more and more to continue the paleo lifestyle and try to get others to see the benefits. I can’t wait for your next book, going to preorder so that I can help with the WONDERFUL charitable cause in helping animals and or shelters in need. We are also a dog loving family and treat our dog Raider like he is a people, minus the people food, not good for dogs. Please keep doing what you are doing and I’m really hoping I can get to Portland to see you. Unless you decide to come to beautiful Vancouver BC. Love everything about you! ????
thanks Tracey, really appreciate that you see the good I was trying to put out into the world!
I have never commented on a post before but for the first time I felt a need to voice my opinion. Even if Juli is using giving to charity as a ploy to buy her book, WHO CARES?! The point is the money is going to charity and will help animals in need. If she makes more money off it good for you juli you worked hard. My only disappointmet is I already preordered my book before proceeds went to charity. Guess I will have to donate on my own. Congrats on your book Juli! Can’t wait to get my copy.
