I’m doing it. My very first giveaway. I’m so excited! I’ve never done one. But when the opportunity came up to spread the word about the Well Fed Cookbook by Melissa Joulwan of The Clothes Make the Girl, I couldn’t pass it up! If you haven’t seen her cookbook yet, which I’m guessing 96% of you have, you are missing out! Not only did Melissa self publish this book, but she did it incredibly well. The photography is magnificent, the recipes are different from what you’ll find in most paleo blogs, and her voice is wonderful. It’s an easy to read, easy to look at, and easy to love paleo cookbook, and there are definitely not enough of those out there…yet! The time and effort put into this cookbook shows and everyone should have it on their bookshelf OR sitting in the kitchen next to some bacon grease…like mine.

And one of the best things about this cookbook is that it is for all kinds of paleo eaters. If you are new to paleo and are looking to make something very simple, she has that. She talks about the importance of spices and easy ways to incorporate flavors into simple dishes. And if you are a paleo-pro, she has all kind of recipes and new ideas that will spark your interest. Ever heard of machacado? You have? Whatever. To me, it seems pretty fancy. But Melissa makes it so simple that a paleo-newb to a paleo-pro could enjoy every last bite of every recipe she has.

The Well Fed Cookbook brings the spirit of every culture into paleo cooking, and that is not something you find every day.

If there is one thing I love the most about this book, it’s that the author. Melissa is an incredibly good person. She is kind, caring, and incredibly thoughtful. When I emailed her asking a question about how she got started on the publishing train, she emailed me back within minutes. She cares for everyone and that’s a pretty amazing quality to have. I believe good things happen to good people and I hope that GREAT things happen to her.

But anyways, enough with the gushy stuff. Here is how to win the cookbook:

I would love to win Melissa’s book because I just started eating Paleo and I basically struggle with cooking in general. 🙂

Liked, followed, and tweeted! I would really love to win this cookbook because eating paleo intrigues me and is something I would like to incorporate more into my diet. Every paleo recipe I have tried, I have extremely enjoyed and as a fairly new cook, I could really use some guidance and help with this cookbook!

I would LOVE to own the Well Fed cookbook!!! I started Crossfit about 2 months ago and it has changed my life! SERIOUSLY! Before Crossfit I had never been part of a sports team and had never been the “athletic” type. I thought I couldn’t lift weights and did not think that I could ever do hand stand push ups or any of the other insane movements…I was intimidated starting Crossfit. BUT the other people at my box were so incredible in cheering me on and encouraging me to push myself further! They all have inspired me so much and in just 2 months I am doing things that i never thought that I could do. More importantly, Crossfit has made me love my body. After years of struggling with the idea of being “perfect”, I finally feel satisfied with what I am doing! I feel myself becoming so much more confident and physically stronger. I am so inspired by your blog and your strength (emotionally and physically) Now where does Paleo come in? After years of eating sugar free and diet everything, I am DONE with that chemical crap!! Once starting crossfit I realized that I needed to be fueling my body in a way that would give me enough energy to complete my workouts. I have been trying Paleo for a few weeks now and I am loving it, I don’t think that I could do it without looking at your blog everyday though! It def. takes thought and preparation but it really has made me feel amazing (another reason I need the Well Fed cookbook) ! I feel like I could go on and on and Crossfit and Paleo and how they have recently began consuming my life but bottom line is: These 2 things have given me confidence, they have helped me to see myself as strong and beautiful and they have made me feel like I can accomplish anything! Thank you for being so genuine and awesome!!

3 months ago I began a journey of eating right and exercising regularly. A few weeks into my journey I discovered Paleo, bought a few books and read everything I could about it. 3 months ago I weighed 316 lbs. Today I weigh 268 lbs. I would love to have this cookbook because I love to cook and I could always use some more awesome Paleo recipes!

Convincing my hubby to love paleo as much as I do is a challenge. I need all the kick-butt recipes I can get!

    Dear JB,

I would greatly appreciate being considered for this book due to the fact I’ve been trying for months to stay on a strict Paleo diet. I’ve faltered a little, especially after eating a whole box of carrot cake cookies, when I got word my husband was deploying for a year to Ass-Crack-Istan in 3 months. (He just got back from a 6 month tour in May :-/ )
I’m going to be making a 12 hour drive to see my family and stay with them for a few month after he leaves and have been desperately trying to teach my Mom, Step Dad and Sister better eating habits since the last time I was up there. All I saw in their fridge was Soda, cheap lunch meat and condiments. Pop tarts, Prepackaged hot chocolate and sugary peanut butter in the cupboards.

I think this book would give me a great aid in getting them on a cleaner lifestyle AND help me not to fall off the wagon again while being around them. So, really if my family is serious about the change I would be re-gifting your giveaway to them so they can stay on the straight and narrow and hopefully have scribbled down all the really awesome recipes in the book and put them in my binder before I leave to go back home.

Thanks for all you do Julie!

THis September will be my 2 year anniversary from when I started losing weight. I have lost 100 lbs and still have 60 lbs to go. The first year I kicked butt! once i started to see results and how people were floored by my transformation I began to get a little too confident. I really want to cross the finish line this time and finally lose the weight. The program I was on is very similar to the paleo lifestyle. THis cookbook would help me and hopefully give me that push to help me cross that finish line!
