The whole reason I even began to dabble in fashion was because of how empowering it was. I first found CrossFit which truly changed my viewpoint on beauty, then I found Paleo which flipped my world upside down when it came to how we should actually be eating, and then came fashion. As CrossFit and Paleo slowly made me a more confident, happy and thriving human being, fashion was that third puzzle piece. It made me feel truly empowered. Which is so odd. How can a pair of pants or a dress or a good pair of shoes empower you? How can those simple pieces of clothing make you walk with your head held higher or make you feel like you can conquer your day? I don’t know the exact answer, but I do know that finding that perfect little sweater dress with a slit up the side made feel like a million bucks the other day. And while I wore it, I had my little top knot head held higher than ever.

PaleOMG Sweater Dress with Slit

This grey sweater dress is all about sophistication and sexiness all rolled into one. Just like I mentioned last week on the blog, fall doesn’t have to be all about baggy clothes and covering up. You can show a little skin while staying warm and cozy. This dress is the perfect lightweight yet warm material that is stretchy to help fit your body like a glove. Show off your curves in this dress and throw on a faux leather jacket at night to look put together while still comfortable. And don’t be afraid to show off a little leg that you’ve been working so hard on during the summer in the gym and in the kitchen!

Here’s a peek at a more sweater dresses for fall!

PaleOMG Fall Sweater Dress Outfit

But if showing off a little leg isn’t your style, then show off with your shoes! These faux-suede deep green heels have fun cut outs and you can lace them in the front or the back to create whatever look you’re going for! Wear them with a dress like I did or a pair of dark purple skinny jeans (that are 40% off!) or just a cute faux-suede high waisted skirt! For me, these heels ran a bit small so I recommend sizing a half size up if you snag them for yourself!

PaleOMG Blanket Scarf Favorites

If you’ve been following me for any amount of time, you know I have a deep love for blanket scarves. For many reasons:

  1. They make my hair look fuller and thicker when it’s down since it’s so much material at my neck. And since my hair isn’t the thickest and clip-in hair extensions are a pain in the ass to put in, blanket scarves do wonders.
  2. They keep you EXTREMELY warm. Like, sweat inducing warm. And since I despise Colorado when it snows, these scarves make it feel like it’s summer again!
  3. It’s the perfect accessory that doesn’t take much effort but makes you look like you have your sh*t together.

So when I noticed that ModCloth has MANY blanket scarves in stock, I went a little crazy. I absolutely love yellow, orange and grey for fall colors so this scarf was the perfect balance. But they also have

Scarves for every day of the week! (plus more!)

PaleOMG Favorite New Purse

But I think I saved the best part of this outfit for last: this purse. You know when you find the purse that holds everything so well and goes with any outfit? Well I finally found that purse. It’s sleek and slim but still wide enough to carry A TON of stuff in your purse. I just took it on a trip to Omaha this past weekend and filled it with my computer, wallet, snacks, book, and a ton of makeup and it never felt cramped! AND it never fell over, which is key! I got so many compliments on it while I was traveling and can’t wait to style it with many more fall outfits!

This is going to sound silly, but I purchased a blanket scarf last year after seeing you wear them… but no matter what I do I can’t seem to get them to, well, not look like blankets on me 🙂 Can you post a folding tutorial?

I’ve been wanting to get a blanket scarf ever since you posted about them last year! Is there a certain size/length you prefer for wrapping around like you show here? Definitely going to be ordering a couple of these 🙂 Thanks!!

  3. Wendy says:

Love the dress, but wearing a tablecloth around your neck is so not attractive.

    1. juli says:

sorry you feel that way, wendy! i feel great in it!

“If you can’t something nice, don’t say anything at all.”

I’m just going to leave that right here.

      Wendy,

Your negativite opinions are unattractive. You should do yourself a favor and keep that to yourself. I bet you would have more friends as a result.

It is crazy how a great outfit can make you feel so confident. It’s a nice change from the normal gym clothes too. I love those green booties with the cut outs!

You look amazing, love your whole outfit. Wish I would look that good in those kind of dresses. My confidence is a little low right now, I started to workout a few months ago, doing crossfit and barré, and I was feeling amazing, my confidence went up so much, that I felt I could wear anything and felt so good about myself, but unfortunately I injured my knee and my shoulder and that has kept me away from the gym for 2 months, all my gains are starting to fade away…. 🙁 Starting to lose the confidence I had gained. You are so right, working out is empowering, and mixing exercise, a good diet and fashion is even more empowering.!!!!

we all have bumps in the road with our fitness journey but don’t let this bump hinder your confidence! know that you can get it back once some of those injuries have healed and try to come up with some workouts you can still do, whether that’s just walking or riding a bike or even the elliptical! and just keep eating healthy while you’re going through this little bump! you got this!

      1. Elizabeth says:

Thank you Juli, you are so inspiring!! My goal is to look and be as healthy and amazing as you do!! 🙂

  8. Micah says:

Love this! I love nursing my babies but it takes dresses like this right out of the running. Maybe when they so nursing i won’t eat like a horse and I can lose that little bit I have left. Scarves are baby friendly for sure though. Thanks for the cute outfit posts!

    1. Laura says:

OH MY YES!!!! Micah just want to say you’re not alone in that! I’m trying to find cute things I can wear out in public – I’m just not feeling those nursing tops – but I don’t want to make too much of an investment due to my changing shape. I love my 5mo son and I wouldn’t trade him for anything, but he sure has wreaked havoc with the way I feel! It’s so hard to find the energy to fit in a walk, or some yoga stretches, or lift a few weights. But I am storing up Juli’s fun ideas for when I “return to normal” ha ha….

So I’m the worst shopper ever. I can shop nike online all day errday but put me around real people clothes and I fail. Hard. Anyhoo.. I legit come to your blog and your fashion Friday posts when I’m shopping and take so much from them. I’ve bought many a-things because I’ve seen the way you put outfits together. AND. I totally agree about the scarf too — the bigger the better:) Seriously love your blog. It rocks. Keep doing you.

Love the look! Stitch Boutique in Denver recently posted on Instagram that they got a new shipment of blanket scarves in. I need to get over there and get one before they’re gone!
