Hi Juli! These are such great gift ideas. I’m definitely going to order some for friends! Also, super random but I saw your insta stories mentioning Retin A and thinning skin. I just asked my friend about it who is a board-certified dermatologist and she said that it is a VERY common misconception that retinoids thin the skin. In actuality, they have been proven to thicken skin by preventing the breakdown of collagen. She went on a science-filled rant, but I’m too lazy to try to synthesize all of it haha Just wanted to let you know!
my esthetician actually worked under Dr James Fulton (then his son after he passed on) who invented retin-a so she’s been around it for years and even used it herself in the past. she was recently at a lecture where they talked about the retinol tretrinoin and it thinning the skin. but at the end of the day, I’ve been using retin-a for years now and my skin has continued to thin. and when i think about it, everyone who has prescribed me retin-a and said they use it themselves has pretty thin skin. so i’m getting away from it. i’m going to research the lecturer and chat with him personally and share those details in the future on the blog and my experience with new products. for now i’m just paying attention to what is happening to my skin and finally listening to it because what i’ve been doing obviously isn’t working.
