Iced Mint Protein Mochas

I’m obsessed with making iced coffee drinks in the summer. Well, just this summer. I’ve never really done it before this summer. Stop saying summer. But I’m really into them now. And I’m even more into adding protein powder to it. Thankfully I have the delicious Primal Fuel in my house constantly. After long days of emails and cooking and writing and eating, this little protein mocha is the perfect pick me up!

Can we just talk about the elephant in the room? What’s up with the guy who bit the other guys shoulder during the soccer game? Who does that? Someone is in your way, you’re all jacked up on World Cup Fever and testosterone and what do you do? Shove? Na. Trip. No way, too easy. Elbow to the mouth? Too obvious. Nope, I’ll bite the guy. Nipple is too aggressive, shoulder will do. That guy has issues. May I even say mommy issues. Not sure how that relates, but I’m going to say it. And he’s done it twice before? Tool.

It’s weird seeing so many people so excited about the World Cup. Mostly because it’s soccer. I literally hear NO ONE talk about soccer, like ever. But now it’s all everyone talks about. I don’t remember people being this psycho about it 4 years ago. It feels a bit bandwagon to me. Probably because I could give two sh*ts about any sports. Negative Nancy over here. My b.

So I don’t listen to country music, it’s just not on my daily playlist. All I really listen to is some sort of dance music. In the car. In the gym. That’s really the only time I listen to music. But I had 180 beats per minute. Country doesn’t have that very often. BUT I was invited to a Jake Owen concert this weekend so I’m going to it. I have some ankle boots that kind of look like cowboy boots, so I’ll fit in, right? Right. And I’ll act like I know the words. Fake it ’til you make it.

I really miss The Office. Why couldn’t that show go on forever?

Oh, Hi! I’m Juli.

I’m a food hoarder. And a really bad dancer. If you don’t know me well, you will probably not understand my humor. Therefore, I apologize ahead of time. Thanks for listening to my ramblings of my ever-changing life and trusting my kitchen mishaps. Your trust in me is appreciated.

  1. Oh man, soccer. I have never seem a sport where grown men act more childish. Biting? For real? And in one of the first games (don’t remember which one, and don’t care) one guy poked the other guy in the face, Three Stooges-style. At least in hockey they throw real punches, not this elementary-school-bully crap.

  2. i had the exact same soccer bandwagon why is everyone into it now conversation with my sports-fanatic boyfriend last weekend… i just don’t get the hype!
this smoothie shake mocha thing looks delish… nothing better than fresh mint!

  3. Julie,

I see where you use protein powders in a lot of your smoothies. I do not work out on the level you do, however I am always confused as to post workout drinks or foods. Do you have any suggestions as to that? Thanks so much.

  4. Ok don’t get mad but I’m totally one of those bandwagon people. Who doesn’t love an excuse to sneak out of work to cheer and chant in unison and some how relate it all to patriotism? Oh and there are usually amazing snacks 🙂

ANYWHO to my point – this is not the first time that that player has done this. This is the THIRD time he’s bit someone during a game! THIRD TIME! Check it out: http://www.businessinsider.com/luis-suarez-biting-history-2014-6

Someone get this man a sandwich!

  5. This is my first time leaving a comment but your blog is the only reason I’ve been able to stick with the paleo diet for 2 years. I told my husband about The Paleo Kitchen a few months ago and said I wanted it because I wanted to support you and George as a thank you for all of your amazing free recipes. I came home today and my husband surprised me with a copy of your book! I can’t wait to try everything and the pictures are amazing!!

  6. Thank you for making me laugh today. I needed that. Now I’m a big fan!. I am new to your website, from a friend referral just today. And also new to Paleo. But it is changing my life, as I was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis. And nothing, ever, never, for any reason, whatsoever, ever, can take the place of The Office. Just finished watching all nine seasons on Netflix. Still craving more!

  7. Love your blog Juli and the recipes, and thanks for helping me realize Paleo is the only way to go. But I’ve got to wag my finger at you. You can’t say you don’t give a sh*t about soccer then talk about how it’s gaining in popularity in America as if it’s a bad thing. It sounds bizarre. As for the Uruguayan Luis Suarez (official World Cup biter) he needs treatment. Let’s see if the powers that be can determine what’s more important; scoring goals for club and country or correcting a deep psychological issue.

  8. I love iced coffee. I will definitely add this recipe to my rotation. I make coffee ice cubes so my drink doesn’t get watery-well if it lasts longer than a few minutes 🙂

  9. It is odd how no one talks about soccer until the World Cup comes around. Then it’s all people can talk about. This recipe looks great by the way. I send many of my clients to your blog who are looking for easy and delicious paleo recipes.

  10. I’m with you on the country music. Like it but don’t listen to it often. I had the chance to see Jake Owen in concert as well. HE WAS AMAZING!!! First, he’s hot and second, just a great entertainer. You will have a blast.

And thank you for your time, effort and hard work to create fabulous recipes.

  11. Jake Owen. I think you will be pleasantly surprised…. I went to his concert a few months ago just for something to do ( I live in Casper Wyoming and when someone comes to concert you just go…. You don’t miss the rare opportunity to have something to do.) enjoy! I thought his concert was pretty fun!

  12. Omg, yum! I am going to have to try this, but I will have to wait a day or two until the weather gets better. I usually go for a hard run early in the morning and then come inside and make myself something in the blender, but Hurricane Arthur is making his presence felt here on the East Coast and it is too gross and humid out there to do anything.

  13. Hi Juli,

I’m a little confused, in your blog you said that this recipe is strictly not Paleo. So does that mean that we shouldn’t be drinking it at all or just in very small doses. If I’m on a 30 day challenge. Should I avoid it all together?

  14. I feel like we agree on a lot of things. Like how sports are stupid, biting people is weird and I also have a slight The Office obsession. Pretty sure I could recite seasons 1-5..ha!

Also this smoothie looks good! 🙂

I saw a comment about this being a sponsored post..don’t you have to disclaim that? Just curious as a fellow blogger. 🙂
