I’m really into dried figs right now. They remind me of when I was younger and ate the sh*t out of Fig Newtons. Holy balls those lil’ cookies of happiness really got me going. I could easily eat a whole box of those. Who am I kidding, I could STILL eat a whole box. The seeds give a little crunch to a soft cookie and make life wonderful. People who don’t like Fig Newtons know nothing. But if you don’t like the cookie version….how about the dried fruit version? Stupid good.
Anywho, I’m talking so much about cookies BECAUSE there are literally 9 DOZEN cookies sitting on top of my microwave on the counter. No, they are not paleo. Yes, they are pure sugar and flour. And yes, they make me drool everytime I walk by them. And think about how many times I walk through the kitchen in one day…holy crap…that’s a lot of drooling. Mopping the floor is easy, I guess. Terrible joke. But seriously, these cookies never leave. That’s probably because my roommates are extremely thin and have something called self control. I have self control in the fact that I just make paleo desserts instead. Or consume mass amounts of dried figs. Or pecan coconut butter. Sh*t that stuff is good. Just you wait. JUST YOU WAIT.
You know what’s weird? Old Navy commercials. Really weird.

We made this today for our snow day here in NYC. Amazing!! We are doing a paleo challenge through our box and your blog has been a lifesaver. And you’re hilarious. You’re going somewhere…hopefully the games yes, but if all else fails, just continue what you’re doing. You make paleo fun! (did I just say that?!!)
NYC??! That’s so awesome! It’s really cool to hear about people outside of CO cooking my recipes!! Lol definitely not expecting the Games, and this blog will definitely not be going anywhere. Don’t you worry!! I like cooking AND talking too much.
Yep! They’re putting paleOMG on our site Tuesday. Crossfitnyc.com 🙂 keep up the good work!
That.is.so.awesome!! Thank you so so much Ali!!
made this over the weekend, soo damn good! B.O.M.B.!! thanks.
Love your site. It has been my guide since my CF box talked me into trying the paleo. I am completely sold after a month! With that said, I am a rookie to cooking anything. Can I use a pork loin for this? Sorry if that is a stupid question… Haha.
Sean
I think someone else used a pork loin in this recipes as well…im sure it will work but the pork won’t shred quite as well
2 1/2 lbs of boneless, butchered pork shoulder easily fit in the crockpot along with all the veggies. Phew!
Once it was all shredded and cooked up, I had what’s essentially a container of pork fat ‘n juice liquid left behind. Other than throwing this at a bunch of granola-crunching vegan chakra-aligning yogis, does anyone else have a use for this? Maybe as a broth in the next stew? Any other ideas before it gets tossed?
Some of the folks at the local box confirmed it as “legit”; I think one may have been half-Mexican, so there’s credibility there.
Upgraded to 5 stars b/c I managed to avoid rubbing my eyes after cutting up the peppers. Woohoo, S-M-R-T!
Ahhh sh*t yeah Bryan! Glad you liked it! You just used a lot of words that I’ve never seen before. I say a broth sounds amazing!
Ha-ha…ur so awesome…
I’m not sure if ur saying that because I’m really into pork or being I think Old Navy commercials are weird…either way, I like you.
I made this Sunday for my friend’s Super Bowl party and it was gone in less than an hour with RAVE reviews from everyone. SOOOOOO GOOD!! I did add about a half a jar of tomatillo salsa to it also. Made it taste almost just like the Green Chili we had in Vail a few weeks ago went we went skiing. DELISH!!
Glad you and your friends liked it Jen!!
THIS WAS SO GOOD.
Seriously, my roommate texted me this while I was at work: “Holy Fuck why does the house smell so good??” Big win, big big win.
That’s awesome Charlotte!
I tried this last night. Very yummy!
I made this tonight (I actually doubled the recipe and stored it in two gallon freezer bags in my freezer, pulled one out last night to throw in the crock pot this morning). Holy cow, this is GOOD. Got a big thumbs up from the hubby.
the only problem is… i still have 4 more hours to go, in the crock pot!..
