Protecting My Skin While in the Caribbean
It’s official…I leave for the Caribbean tomorrow! Nine full days of sunshine, water…and more sunshine! And well, I love the sun. I spent my summers swimming on swim team, hanging out at the local pool, then lifeguarding and teaching swim lessons for 8+ years. All I really cared about through my teenage and college years was being tan. I wanted to be the darkest I could and spent hours applying oil to get the best bronze possible.
Nowadays, I spend my hours applying sunscreen, wearing a hat and thinking about how my skin will age if I don’t take care of it now. But I refuse to hide under an umbrella or not do the things I love just because I’m a bit afraid of the sun. I live in Colorado which means I live outdoors. I ride bikes around town, I run outside, I wake surf on the lake, and I walk Jackson every single morning. And most of the travel I do includes adventures outdoors and relaxing by the pool. It’s safe to say that even though my skin is a priority, living a happy, awesome life is too!
Luckily I met some of the amazing people behind Supergoop! while at the rewardStyle conference in April and was introduced to their products to add to my daily routine. The first product I tried out and instantly fell in love with was their Setting Mist that comes in SPF 50 and is perfect for throwing in your purse and reapplying over your makeup throughout the day. Not only does it keep your makeup in place, but it gives you a little extra SPF coverage for those random situations you end up in the sun, even when you’re not planning to. That product became my best friend and go-to since applying normal cream sunscreen on top of makeup just isn’t going to work.
But a new product they recently came out with (that I have at all times in my purse nowadays) is their Mineral Invincible Setting Powder. I personally like to keep it with me to help with any shine I have going on after wearing makeup for a few hours, but it also has SPF 45 so I get coverage on top of reducing shine. I like to keep it on hand for days that I work out and then head straight to brunch. It just gives me a light coverage and takes away that sweaty glisten that goes along with a hard workout in minimal air conditioning.
For the Caribbean, I’m definitely packing the Mineral Invincible Setting Powder with me, but I’m also take the Mineral Sunscreen with me! Not only is the size perfect for a carry-on suitcase, but it’s also a sunscreen that doesn’t leave behind any white residue so it’s great for underneath makeup! It’s almost a silky smooth texture so it doesn’t feel heavy on your skin whatsoever!
And luckily, Supergoop! has a ton of different sizes to choose from in almost all of their products! Which means I’ll be packing with me some of my favorites! In my Caribbean yacht trip carry-on, you’ll find the Mineral Invincible Setting Powder for quick coverage when I’m hanging out on the beach. Then Sunscreen Mousse that comes in SPF 50 and is water resistant so I’ll be using that daily for any time I’m taking a dip! And then I’ll definitely have my Setting Mist for anytime we decide to actually get dressed in real clothes and head to a fun restaurant on an island! I won’t be wearing much makeup during this trip so I know it will feel good to put a little on, spray my face with the Setting Mist then head out for a nice dinner, not on the boat for once! Seriously cannot wait!
On this trip, I’ll be thinking about protecting my skin, but more importantly – having fun. And that’s what’s so great about having Supergoop! products around! They make keeping your skin healthy easier than ever. Keep your makeup in tact, keep your shine at ease and take care of your skin all at the same time!
