Breakfast can get so boring. Don’t let it happen to you! Eat this along side some eggs and bacon!
How was your Valentine’s day? I don’t know how I feel about the extra romantic Valentine’s day deal. Personally, having my guy make meals on Wednesdays when I have to work late, always taking out the trash, and continuously doing my dirty dishes, is romantic. Those little things mean way more to me than presents. Or flowers. I kind of hate flowers. Why would you give a person something that dies when you can give chocolate? Whatevs. We did have Valentine’s Day breakfast at Snooze. The couple next to us reminded me of the first scene in Bridemaids when she is hooking up with that asshole guy and the he says, “This is so uncomfortable…I really want you to leave.” That’s what the couple seemed like. She laughed so loud at his jokes and he made fun of her the whole time. It made for an uncomfortable hour. My fiancé thinks they were brother and sister but I stand firm on my belief that they were lovers.
Anywho, we didn’t really get to see each other much this Valentine’s Day. He had to work an event so after breakfast at Snooze, I tried to be productive. Look at how productive I was:
- Workout
- Couch
- Twilight
- Twilight 2
- Modern Family
- more Modern Family
- Eat
- Make chocolate caramel bark
- Eat too much chocolate caramel bark
- Twilight 3
- Go to sleep because I’m disappointed with my productivity
Sooooo yeah. I was not productive at all. And it wasn’t even snowing that day. I’m pretty sure it was 70 degrees and THAT’S what I did. Like I said, Vday is overrated, so I did the most underrated things possible. Protesting against the system, ya know.
Anyways, let’s talk about real love. The bachelor love. Did you watch the last 2 days of it? Yes, two days. Ratings must be through the rough if they keep adding more episodes. Here’s the thing though, they’ve officially kicked off all of the crazies. What’s the point in watching if the crazies aren’t doing their weird crazy stuff? And whose giant purple lips am I suppose to stare at since he kicked Britt off? I really wish I knew what lipstick she wears. And who is going to make fun of other girls if Carly is gone? Now we have to listen to mouse voice girl a lot more. Now don’t get me wrong, she seems very kind and her voice isn’t as annoying when Chris isn’t around, but when he walks in the door, dogs come arunnin’.
Poop. I have a flat tire. I need to go get my life together.

Using myfitnesspal.com I calculated the macros for this recipe in case anyone would like them! 🙂 It is saved as PaleOMG Protein Banana Bread. I used 1 scoop of the GNC amplified wheybolic extreme vanilla protein instead of the protein suggested in the recipe.
PER SERVING:
190 calories
11 g Fat
19 g Carbs
5 g Protein
Thank you for calculating this. Can you tell me how many servings this made. Is it 190 cals for a tiny square or 1/9th of pan?
Hello, you say 1/4 tapioca??? 1/4 teaspoon? Cup? Help!
jeez Juli, get it together. it’s 1/4 cup. fixed that issue!
Awesome, thank you!!
These sound and look fantastic. I’ll have to ask my wife to try out the recipe. I know if I tried, it would just be ruined 🙂
This entire post (minus the recipe) made me laugh, so thank you! My boyfriend and I don’t celebrate Valentine’s Day either; I’d much rather he (or anyone, including myself) show appreciation and that they care on a daily basis in the little ways than pull out something bigger just because they feel like they have to. Ditto to Mother’s and Father’s Days, come to think of it.
You have a good man there! Taking out the garbage AND making you food?! Excellent. These banana bars also look excellent 🙂
Think I could leave out the maple/coconut sugar? I want to make these NOW and don’t want to go to the store….plus my protein powder is super sweet.
These look flippin’ awesome. Sweets mixed with breakfast- I can never pass that down. I love your blog- and check it every day for new recipes and posts. After I read this one, I spent my 30 minutes on the stair master reading old posts. Yes, all the way back in 2011. You were just as funny then. This is good stuff. Keep doing what you’re doing!
I’ve yet to meet a protein powder that doesn’t make me sick due to intolerance. What can I sub the protein powder for?
Hi Juli!
Can you omit the protein powder?
If we didn’t want to put protein powder in the bars, what would you recommend a substitute or could it just be left out? Thanks!
