Let’s just get into what’s important here. I GOT A DOG. No, not just any dog. A french bulldog. The best french bulldog in the entire world. I now understand why parents always think their child is super smart or learns quickly or artistic, when really, they’re just like any other child. Well, I’m totally not like those parents. My dog really IS the best dog in the world. Ok, I’ll stop. But I am absolutely in love. I honestly never knew I could love something so much. At night, while he’s in his crate, all I think about is how excited I am to wake up and hang out with him again. Even to just take him outside so he doesn’t pee on our carpet. I’m excited to just be teaching him not to pee everywhere. I would have never thought I would actually want to do that. He’s wonderful.
So obviously I have to tell you how this whole puppy thing came to be. Because honestly, I didn’t think we would get a puppy until July once I was done with the cookbook tour, but that all changed on Thursday. So I was sitting on the couch, doing my normal blog routine on Thursday night, the boyfriend comes home as usual and tells me he’s putting sweat pants on. Instantly, there was a knock at the door. I thought it was this mechanic guy from the building because he’s been stopping by to fix things, so of course I yelled at the bf to get it. I’m a lovely girlfriend. Well, he told me he didn’t have pants on so I had to. So I open the door and what’s at the door step? A French bulldog red blue fawn puppy. Just sitting there. Patiently. I didn’t understand what was going on. I couldn’t talk, I didn’t know where it came from, I didn’t know whose it was. Well, my friend popped out and said, I think it’s yours. I instantly knelt down on the ground and he went straight up my chest and nuzzled his head in my neck. I melted. I mean, completely melted. I started to tear up. I couldn’t believe this was my puppy and I already loved him that much. Unreal.
The first night we had him, I slept with him on the couch. We wanted him to be as comfortable as possible the first night, so the bf let me get away with it. But the second night, it was onto crate training. Let me tell you, if you’ve never crate trained a puppy before, it’s pretty much the worst feeling in the entire world. If it was just me, I would have totally given in. They don’t just cry, the scream. They scream bloody murder. I really, really hope the neighbors weren’t home because it sounded like we were killing a cat. Anywho, we got through the first night, only screamed for probably less than 10 minutes, then he ended up sleeping for 5 hours. The next night, he didn’t cry at all. It was AWESOME. He’s getting this sleeping-in-the-crate-peeing-and-pooping-outside thing. It’s great. I can’t wait until he totally gets it. Thankfully, he pees about 1/2 teaspoon every time so it ain’t too bad.
Wanna see like 100 pictures of him? Okyaygreatdeal.

- Once smooth, pour into jars with the crust and let refrigerate for up to an hour.
- Garnish with any extra coconut cream that remains in the can or from another can. Eat up!
Notes
*I found my canned coconut cream at Sprouts but you can also use full fat canned coconut milk, just make sure to leave it in the fridge overnight. Discard of the coconut water at the bottom of the can (use for shakes, etc.)
