I’ve gotta face it. Not all people like to eat meat for breakfast. I know I couldn’t even fathom eating steak or chicken or pork for breakfast when I first started zone then paleo. When I first started changing my diet, I had to make shakes every damn morning. Thinking about eating meat in the morning made me sick to my stomach. But then I finally started just eating leftovers because running the blender at 4:30am is never fun, for anyone. My parents would have kicked me out…especially since I wasn’t paying rent when I lived with them after college. Actually, maybe they would have paid ME for living with them if I would have made shakes like this back then. Yep. I bet they would have.
This shake is made for those that hate breakfast in meat form. If you like to drink your breakfast because you’re “too busy”…mmmm hmmmm…I think that’s just you being lazy and not wanting to eat meat. Sweets are delicious, especially in the morning. I understand. But I drive a stick shift and still get away with eating leftover chicken and veggies while driving. Safe? No. Healthy? Yes. But I did drink this for lunch the other day and it was pretty damn filling. I wasn’t hungry for a good couple hours after. Hope you love it as much as I do!
While you’re reading this post, I will be in Boston. Well, probably flying there. Getting to Boston from Denver takes a bit. I’m kind of nervous. I get lost walking around the block. So going to place I have literally no clue where I am…well, that makes me nervous. I better pack A LOT of deodorant. And I actually had to go shopping for real people clothes. Turns out not all people who film cooking shows wear workout clothes. Weird, I know.
Hey have you ever watched My Drunken Kitchen? If you haven’t, you’re one of the few. Her videos have hit almost 2 million views on YouTube. TWO MILLION. Whoa. But if you’re easily offended…well…I’m not sure why you’re reading MY blog, but you’ll probably be offended by her. She gets drunk and cooks. It’s awesome. She’s pretty damn hilarious! Someday people might think my videos are cool, until then, I will just bore the few that fall unfortunately onto my YouTube station. JOKES ON YOU!

love having new smoothie recipes, thank you! I’m a meat and veg for breakfast and lunch, smoothie for dinner [post WOD] sort of eater. Living in the south I learned to eat this way out of overheated necessity last summer.
Enjoy New Hampshire via Boston!! I went to college there, loved it…beautiful part of the country.
glad you like the smoothie recipe Tiff!
I am looking for a whey/soy free protein powder. Do you know how many servings are in the 2lb container of the Simply Pure Nutrient product?
I’m not totally sure Jennifer, I’ll find out for you!
OMG! Thank you for introducing me to My Drunken Kitchen. People who are offended by her must not have a sense of humor. She’s awesome!!
HAHA. I guess I wasn’t one of those million people that watched that video. I need to watch more YOUTUBE and get “with it”. Ever since I had my 2 kids in 2 years Mama has no free time! I do find time to read your blogs ofcoarse Juli 🙂
Thanks for posting all your creations!
My Drunk Kitchen is hilarious Juli! Safe travels!
I love MDK!!!! She is hilarious! The pizza one is one of my favorites, hahah This shake sounds delish & super easy- can’t wait to make it!
Eff “real clothes”, totally over rated. I pretty much hate that I’ve gotten myself into a career that requires “real clothes”. What’s that? You don’t think I’m qualified to diagnose your kids learning disability because my pants don’t have a real waistband?! Joke’s on YOU!!! Yea right, maybe one day. Don’t sell out Juli don’t do it!
I am loving pumpkin smoothies lately. When I looked on your site and saw this, I didn’t feel so bad about it. I had 2 on Tuesday alone. I really just can’t get enough. I make mine with about a cup of frozen steamed pumpkin, 1 banana, coconut milk, a few skinless almonds, cinnamon, a splash of vanilla, and water. OMG I really can’t get enough. I’ll have to try this berry version. I typically try to avoid drinking my food, but pumpkin smoothies are just sooo good. I actually look forward to working out just so I can drink one of these.
so freaking good!! i really like it after working out as a special treat sometimes
Can’t wait to make this!
You should stop by CFNE when you’re in “Boston”. It rocks…I’m not biased at all 😉
I’m trying Jenn!!
