You guys. I’m stuck. Summer is coming, it’s just around the corner. And my legs don’t fit into shorts. I feel like I run into this problem every year. But I’m right there again, and frustrated about it. I left the mall the other day pretty upset. It just blows to get to a point that you’re comfortable in your own skin, then an article of clothing dictates how you feel. So instead of pouting, I bought skirts. Skirts always fit. My inner thighs may sweat and chafe but at least I fit in skirts. Have you found a certain kind of shorts that fit you? More so, that fit the butt and back of the legs? Help me out hereeeee.
I love scarves. All winter long and all sumer long. That is all.

I absolutely adore this top. It is seriously so flattering on any figure and so incredibly comfortable. But these jeans, these jeans are the greatest. I’ve worn these exact pair but in plum, and since they are little bit more high waisted, the never move. I never have to pull them up or mess with them, they just stay in place, happy as can be.

Back to the shorts point. Here’s one of the skirts I bought in order to not cry over spilled milk. This one is super soft but still keeps everything snug. I wore this outfit all day running errands but by the end of the night, I was over booties so I switched to black flats for a little dinner with some friends. Dress it up, dress it down.

Another skirt! Who needs shorts when you can wear skirts all sumer long? Right? Right! That means I need to find a lot more skirts. Remember how I told you I would show you different ways to wear crop tops? Doing it again! If you’re not looking to show much tummy but still like the crop top look, wear a crop top with a high waisted skirt like this look! You can show as little or as much as you want!

What are you wearing this summer to stay cool while still comfortable?!

I’m struggling with the same issue as well, and resorting to the same fix. Bring on the skirts! It’s unfortunate, because I actually do like the shorts I have at home. If you find a pair that fits well, can you recommend them on here?
Love the skirts you’ve picked up so far 🙂
I just read a great Runner’s World article about having trouble fitting into jeans – so find some shorts and get them tailored! 🙂 Here is the article http://zelle.runnersworld.com/style/runner-jeans
Juli, that last outfit is absolutely incredible, I just bought everything because I love it so much 🙂 I found your blog in January and your sense of humor and incredible recipes have helped me easily transition into a happy, healthy paleo life!! Thank you, thank you, thank you <3
GIRL. THIS IS THE STORY OF MY LIFE WITH SHORTS. But you know what I realized this year? If women’s shorts are made for non-muscular ladies, why not try men’s style shorts? Best. Decision. Ever. Try Chubbies (chubbies.com) in a size small and Columbia Women’s Coral Point II Short. Both come in fun colors AND fit my butt and fit quads.
This is hilarious how many of us hate shorts! I had no idea – thought it was just me. Skirts are better and I live in them in summer, but sometimes you just want to throw on a pair of cute shorts. Right? For skirts, I live for Susana Monaco. I have a couple of her slim mini skirts in black and wear them constantly. They are pricey but seriously look the same as the day I bought them. The fabric and fit are perfection. That being said, just today I ventured into Gap and left with a pair of black cut off shorts. They were cute and seemed like they might work. They sort of have this slouchy vibe and the leg is pretty wide. I think they are meant to be worn slung a little low on the hip. We shall see.
I never comment but I need those jeans! Do they run small/ large? How do they compare to other jeans with respect to sizing ? As a fellow cross fitter it’s impossible to find jeans that are snug but not too snug, and have a small waist. Please tell me your ways!
Also re shorts: I feel you! I have luck in shorts that have the “cutoff” bottom- like the fake ripped. I love 7 for mankind shorts- but I’m short so they’re not too short for me. I wait for them to go on gilt or other deal sites. Never go w shorts w cuffs or rolled bottoms. The “cutoff” has a wider leg opening. I also have bought cheaper American eagle shorts, go up a size and get the waist taken in.
Skorts!! Check out Athleta, they have tons of cute skirts, they look like skirts with built in breathable attached shorts. No thigh chafe, look good!!
Lush makes a powder called Silky Underwear that you rub into your inner thighs when you wear skirts. Eliminates the sweating and chafing. The powder is less than $10 and lasts forever. I’ve had luck using bsby powder as well. I can’t find shorts that that flatter my butt so I’m all about skirts 🙂
i love lush!! i’ll definitely be getting that! i heard they have an awesome lip exfoliator, so I will be going in for both those things now! thanks for the recommendation!
I hate shopping for shorts bc while I am only 29, I still want to wear shorts bc dang it I busted my butt to get down to size after havING 3 kids in 3yrs. I want shorts where my hiney doesn’t hang out when I am standing much less chasing my 4, 2, and 1 yr old around. I have found that American Eagle midi shorts fit great! Long enough for my age but short enough that they don’t look awkward on me.
I finally discovered shorts that fit my butt AND my waist at Athleta. Check out the Trekkie short.
