I’m doing it. My very first giveaway. I’m so excited! I’ve never done one. But when the opportunity came up to spread the word about the Well Fed Cookbook by Melissa Joulwan of The Clothes Make the Girl, I couldn’t pass it up! If you haven’t seen her cookbook yet, which I’m guessing 96% of you have, you are missing out! Not only did Melissa self publish this book, but she did it incredibly well. The photography is magnificent, the recipes are different from what you’ll find in most paleo blogs, and her voice is wonderful. It’s an easy to read, easy to look at, and easy to love paleo cookbook, and there are definitely not enough of those out there…yet! The time and effort put into this cookbook shows and everyone should have it on their bookshelf OR sitting in the kitchen next to some bacon grease…like mine.
And one of the best things about this cookbook is that it is for all kinds of paleo eaters. If you are new to paleo and are looking to make something very simple, she has that. She talks about the importance of spices and easy ways to incorporate flavors into simple dishes. And if you are a paleo-pro, she has all kind of recipes and new ideas that will spark your interest. Ever heard of machacado? You have? Whatever. To me, it seems pretty fancy. But Melissa makes it so simple that a paleo-newb to a paleo-pro could enjoy every last bite of every recipe she has.
The Well Fed Cookbook brings the spirit of every culture into paleo cooking, and that is not something you find every day.
If there is one thing I love the most about this book, it’s that the author. Melissa is an incredibly good person. She is kind, caring, and incredibly thoughtful. When I emailed her asking a question about how she got started on the publishing train, she emailed me back within minutes. She cares for everyone and that’s a pretty amazing quality to have. I believe good things happen to good people and I hope that GREAT things happen to her.
But anyways, enough with the gushy stuff. Here is how to win the cookbook:

I am interested in making easy paleo recipes that are healthy and yummy. This book would help in my paleo quest!
I want this cookbook because I want to be the first winner of your very first giveaway!!! That would make my year 🙂 The truth is I have been doing Paleo for about a year and I would love a new cookbook with some fun new recipes. I have heard of this cookbook and she sounds awesome. I have filled the basic requirements of this contest and I want to thank you for all of your delicious recipes and hilarious posts.
My husband and I have been addicted to CrossFit for a year and a half now. I have tried cooking “Paleo” for about a year (after moving off a vegan diet); however, I get easily frustrated with diificult recipes. Sticking with Paleo has been difficult to say the least. I would love…as would my husband…new recipes that we can prepar, enjoy, and help us reach our full potential in all that we do.
I’d LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to have her cookbook on my counter because it would be covered in all kinds of Paleo goodness. I always eat the same things and I need a peleo makeover! 🙂
I have been trying to eat as Paleo as possible so I can lose weight and be healthy again. I am finding it hard to come up with new ideas and this cookbook would be perfect for just that. I want to raise my daughter on this food… I want to be happy with myself again. This would be my first Paleo cookbook, but certainly not my last!
1. I had the PDF sample emailed to me weeks ago and loved it, so I made it official by liking her page… okay, so I did it because you told me to. But I do think that Melissa is awesome. And I agree. Her voice is wonderful and her book is very well written.
2. It’s been so long since I’ve signed into Twitter that I forgot my password and had to have it emailed to me. I’m forgetful. But Twitter forgives me. And I’m now following Melissa AND I tweeted (twitted?) at her.
3. I would LOVE to have this cookbook because I love food and even more than I love food… I love learning how to make edible (& even yummy) healthy food! Which is why I love you. And your awesome blog. And your dry humor. Actually, sometimes your humor makes me angry. The jealous kind. Only because I wish I was that funny. Annywaay. It all started when I was 16. I lost 67 lbs in high school by sugar detoxing and learning to appreciate vegetables. In about 9 months I went from 205lbs to 138lbs in the kitchen! I never once hit the gym. Which was a pretty incredible experience that definitely taught me the importance of a healthy diet! But then I graduated, started college, lived in a dorm (ate at the cafe) and reverted to my old bad habits. Surprisingly, the weight stayed off on its own for about a year or two, but has slowly and surely crept back over the past three years. I haven’t regained all of it, but I am sad to say that I’m back at 180 and DETERMINED to get back down to how I felt when I weighed about 140. I want to be that fit mom someday! The one that not only inspires her own kids, but her friends too! Although honestly, now that I Crossfit, I don’t care as much about what the scale says, but I do care about how out of shape I am! It’s honestly pretty pathetic. My intro class left me feeling like I was straight up ’bout to pass out. But I’ve been Paleo for about 2 months now and I’ve already dropped 13lbs!!! I’m ridiculously motivated by any WOD and busting my butt first thing in the morning helps to control my sweet tooth. And on the days that it doesn’t, your chocolate addiction comforts mine. For my meals I bascially stalk your blog and a few others and feel AWESOME eating this way. I’m still learning and for that reason I am SO thankful for the internet- you are a SERIOUS inspiration, Juli. Nonetheless, it would be pretty awesome to have a cookbook as stellar as Melissa’s! Especially after reading the intro to Well Fed where Melissa shares HER story… I felt pretty inspired by her. Our stories are fairly similar. 🙂 Oh! I could even keep you posted on my weight loss!! 😀 You prrrrobably don’t have time for that jazz, but hey… I offered! Also, here’s a guilt trip (free of charge!): I am a poor college kid who could only ever DREAM of having an awesome paleo cookbook like Well Fed because I could never buy it for myself because gas is too friggin’ expensive! Nor could I convince my parents to buy it for me because they are AWESOME and already pay for my Crossfit. *sad sad sigh* Which is why I am left at the mercy of food-loving bloggers who can’t dance. Okay, maybe just one blogger. Not that I’m complaining. At all. Because I basically love you and I don’t even know you. But between your recipes and your rants, I probably laugh at you more than I laugh at any of my friends. Combined. Do I need funnier friends? Is funnier a word? Whatever. Okay, I think I answered your question! Pick me, Juli!! PICK ME!

^ Side note: There are quite a few Lindseys on here, already. I feel so un-original!
This cookbook looks good! Great giveaway.
I’d love to try Well Fed because I am such a boring cook. I basically just throw a bunch of stuff in a pot every night and add a little all-purpose seasoning and call it a meal. Yah, I need a little direction in the kitchen. Thanks for hosting this giveaway!
I started to eat Paleo after having my son, about 6months ago. I wanted to be eating the best possible way for him while nursing and now I’m hooked! I love your blog (I get so excited when I can read a new post in the middle of the night when my baby wakes up!)and would love to have some new recipe ideas because between nursing and running I’m ALWAYS hungry!
We have been in such a food rut. It would be amazing to add a great cookbook to help us out! We have been gluten free for over 4 years and grain free for 4 months. I am happy to say that I am 45lbs lighter and 30 points down on my cholesterol. I have a ways to go and any help would be appreciated.
