{ NEW COOKING VIDEO!!! }

Cooking videos are back in full swing and they’ll be on the blog every Tuesday with a brand spankin’ new recipe! And today I’m kicking it off with a coffee recipe that makes summer way more fun. Ok, not really, because summer is already the best. But it makes summer mornings more delightful since you don’t have to work for your coffee. All you have to do is make this ahead of time, store it in a container, shake, pour, drink. You can do this! I believe in you!

If you hear an condescending anger in my voice today, it’s because I’ve been up for 6 out of my 8 hours of sleep. Not a fan of that. I don’t know how parents do it. But I’ve had a sick pup who decided it was a great idea to puke on our white rug at midnight last night. And he decided to puke bright yellow, which goes swimmingly with our yellow and coral comforter. This comes weeks after Jackson puked bright pink all over our living room rug. Pepto bismol pink. So sketch. But the vet didn’t seem to be worried. So now we are at a crossing where he has ruined every rug in our house, the vet doesn’t seem to worry, and we have a dog that pukes randomly but seems fine the next day. Not really sure what to think. But it was a great reminder that I’m still not ready to have a child. Sleep is my favorite.

Being an adult is the pits. It’s the best, but it’s totally the pits. And I’ve finally taken full responsibility of being an adult by finally budgeting. I’ve always been so broke AF that budgeting was never needed, I just saved everything and prayed that I would be able to make rent. But now that I live with another human and we have to plan a life together and be prepared for an apocalypse at some point, budgeting has become my buddy. So I reached out to my friend Brianna of The School of Betty to get her budgeting spreadsheet and began filling it out starting with January to now. And let me tell you…it has been quite eye opening. And one of the biggest eye openers: coffee. Why the hell am I spending so much on coffee when I like how I make my coffee at home better than a coffee shop?

Do you guys out there ever fill out some sort of budgeting sheet to get you planning for the future and understanding your present ways? This stuff is never talked about in school (just like effing taxes) and it’s such a big part of our lives. I’d love to hear how you guys have budgeted or been enlightened of your own spending habits! Because at this point, I definitely want to cook more meals at home and make my own lattes, because that sh*t adds up reaaaaal fast. Which is why I’ll be enjoying this collagen mocha latte at home today! Excited to hear about your own budgeting hacks or how you have been enlightened in the past. And PS, when will the school system add this sh*t into their plans?? How rad would it be to leave high school or even college knowing how to deal with taxes and budget for the future.

  2. Melody says:

    Hi Julie,

Dogs can build sensitivities to their food or their gut bacteria can also change as humans. One thing I have found that works great for my pups is adding a few tablespoons of plain yogurt to their food at every meal. You also own a frenchie- brachycephalic (short snout) predisposes them to air while they eat which can also cause upset tummies. Feed smaller portions and more often. I have Bostons (gassy and snorty…air expelled from both ends, Ha!) and have been managing these issues for the past 15 years. They no longer suffer from gas. My doggies eat dry and wet can food by Nutro. I make their dog bones from peanut butter, oats and water and they eat veggies and fruits for treats- No commercial dog treats at all due to fillers and possible allergies. I hope this helps. By the way, love your site.

Juli, this is so simple and is so delicious! I’ve made it a few times already using just our drip-brewed coffee, Chameleon Cold Brew’s Mocha, as well as home-brewed cold brew from Lexi’s Clean Kitchen. Each has been delicious! Side note: I recently made friends with a woman and we had a bunch of random things in common (it’s quite weird). Anyway, we were sharing our favorite skin care brands and I mentioned Tula, which “I learned about from a blog I read called Paleomg”. My new friend squealed and said, “OMG! I follow her too! We’re new besties!” LOL

    1. juli says:

yayyyy!! i’m so glad you love it! I need to try Lexi’s cold brew! she’s the best! And that’s so freaking cool you both had that in common, so freaking fun!!

  6. April says:

Hello! I’d love to see tea lattes or tea based drinks, as I can’t do coffee. Tea needs love too! lol

    1. juli says:

oh man, problem is april – i HATE tea. i can’t stand it. so i’m not not sure if i could create something that i hate, but maybe someday!

  7. Maria says:

Oh my, I love good coffee, and I am so happy that this was delicious and creamy….and guilt-free! Thank you so much for this. Since going Paleo, I really appreciate stumbling upon indulgences such as these. Also, kudos to hearing that you may not want kids – I’m happily married and in the same boat. I just love life, have so much I want to do, and I don’t feel the urge to reproduce. We need more women like you to admit that as we are in the minority.

    1. juli says:

i’m with you! i feel so alone sometimes with my feelings of not wanting to have kids. i’m surprised more people don’t feel that way now that we live in a world where a woman can truly do whatever she wants.

  8. Ashley says:

My hubby is allergic to almonds and almost all other nuts.. anyone try this with another type of milk besides one with *nuts that tastes yummy?

    1. juli says:

you could do an oat milk if you do ok with oats. not paleo, but it is an option

  9. Shelly Roy says:

Can I use chocolate flavored collagen or will that be too chocolatey? ShouldI do less cocoa?

    1. juli says:

yes you can! and i would cut down the cocoa just a bit

  10. Ky says:
