When I look at social media day after day, it constantly feels like everyone has their sh*t together. Like every single person out there has a giant walk-in closet designed by Jay Pritchett’s Closests Closests Closests, a completely spotless WHITE kitchen, and a pantry as big as my home. Everything always looks perfect and it gives me major anxiety that I can’t live up to those expectations. I’m not sure when everyone became a millionaire out there, but that’s not the life I live here in our home. We have a very well-used kitchen with a small pantry and a closest that is bursting at the seams. But when things aren’t organized in this house, the mess causes some major stress.

So I recently decided no more. No more opening the pantry and having instant anxiety at the clutter that stared back at me. I have plenty of daily stress from running my own business, so I want to keep my stress at home as low as possible. And it was a pretty easy fix when I started at the pantry! And there are so many different ways to organize thanks to places like Bed Bath & Beyond and The Container Store. Just walk in either store and you’ll find spice racks, food storage bins, shelves, and everything in between. And with a few simple items, you’ll have an organized pantry where it’s easy to find what you need in seconds.

Now when you look at my pantry, it’s not some walk-in, climb a ladder to get to the 4th floor to grab a can of soda, kind of pantry. It’s a normal, small pantry with limited space. Which forced me to make the most of the room we had. When I started organizing our pantry, I already had a few shelves to help double the storage throughout. But what I didn’t have was clear bins so I could see exactly what was in the pantry at all times. So I loaded up on clear bins, I found a couple lazy susans for a 360 view of some items that I’ve stocked up on, and a ton of clear resealable bins for all my baking flours. Click photo below to be brought to each item I purchased to organize the pantry!

And since I’m pulling back the curtain and showing you everything that’s in our pantry, I thought I would share which items I try to keep in stock at all times. Obviously I probably have more than what the normal person needs to have on hand since I’m cooking for the blog most days, but I do think having many of these things in stock makes cooking for yourself and your family easy and quick, even when you’re in a pinch!

And that’s exactly what you’ll find in my pantry! Ever since I organized it, I have this weight lifted off my shoulders. Not completely since my office-closet is still a sh*t show, but enough that I can concentrate on other tasks at hand. I saw a quote somewhere saying – “Organization isn’t about perfection, it’s about efficiency, reducing stress and clutter, saving time and money, and improving your overall quality of life.” This pantry isn’t perfect and it’s not Jay Pritchett designed, but I now can see everything inside and I’ve now removed a stressor in my life. Nothing goes to waste and nothing is forgotten about.

Now the only thing I need is to label everything throughout. Problem is, I hate all labels. I don’t like label makers, I don’t like chalkboard labels, I don’t like the over-the-top cursive labels. So I’m a little stuck, but I’ll figure it out. In the meantime, I’ll be staring in my pantry because it gives me SO much satisfaction. Organizing is the best.

Oh, Hi! I’m Juli.

I’m a food hoarder. And a really bad dancer. If you don’t know me well, you will probably not understand my humor. Therefore, I apologize ahead of time. Thanks for listening to my ramblings of my ever-changing life and trusting my kitchen mishaps. Your trust in me is appreciated.

  1. Hey Juli! I was just listing to your latest podcast where you were talking about your air fryer. I have one, and it does a nice job with pretty much anything you put in it, but the basket that you cook the food in is so small! Also, the air fryer itself is freaking huge and takes up practically a whole shelf in my pantry! I am not a fan of it at all and thought I would share my negativity with you ????

  2. I can not wait to get my hands on some containers for my nice but rather small pantry. And for my freezer. And if it makes you feel any better, your fit self is making the rest of us..er…ME feel anxiety because I can’t get my abs to look like that, what with all the siete chips I consume and all. 🙂 Love your blog and your stories. You make me giggle.

  3. This post & lil ig story series was so helpful!! I live in a studio apartment so staying organized is a must & im always trying to figure out which pantry staples I could/ should stock up on with thrive market/ other online vendors. thanks so muchhhhh girl ily x a milli

  4. Labels – I use black lifting tape and write on them with silver Sharpies!
I love this post, thanks for sharing 🙂

  5. Thank you for sharing this! Our pantry is very similar and I have got to do some organizing. This is probably a stupid question, but did you measure everything before you started buying containers or did you just buy some and hope for the best? And did you do it all at once or did you buy a few things at a time and then go back for more? I would love any info about your process that you don’t mind sharing! Thank you

    1. yes, i measured everything beforehand! i did have to go back a few times as i moved things around and figured out more space saving ideas, but measuring beforehand is a must! i did some pinterest searching then searching on bed bath and beyond and container store to see what items they had that would work for me!

  6. This was such a great post! I have been thinking about ways to reorganize my pantry and you just made it so easy for me! Thank you for all your great content!

  7. Too bad readers can’t post pictures with a comment, because I’m sure we could all show you some non-pintrest-worthy pantries! And even the organization strategies I’m proud of, I threw together with some plywood and a nail gun. Hardly beautiful, but it makes my life so easy. I have to say, though, I’ve often wondered about the state of your closet after all those amazing fashion posts – so many great outfits, where can they all live?!

When I was staging my last house for sale, to label all my clear containers, I just made a Word document with a font I liked with all the flours etc I have, printed it off, cut it up, and taped it on. It’s still serving me well and looks nice and neat.

  8. Wow Juli this post is so helpful!! Thank you for sharing, I have been wanting to do this for awhile now- perfect inspiration to do so, thanks for the tips!!

  9. Truly thankful you shared this. We have a pull out shelf for our cans, so not organized. The spices are all in one cupboard but cannot determine what is what. Also baking stuff is every where, not to mention snacks have a separate shelf in an open area. Needless to say my organization can use some inspiration and help. I think this just did that. Now to get to work on it all!

  10. Awesome ideas! We keep a “stash” of extra food in shelves in our finished basement and a white board in the kitchen. If a person uses the last ____, they go downstairs, replenish, and write it on the white board for our food procurement manager (me) to put in her grocery shopping app. This is going to help streamline the system even more! I can’t wait to get my shelves of food organized like this! OH! And those clear containers with lids from the Container Store are perfect for one set of sheets. That’s my newest discovery and keeps me from massive anxiety when trying to find bedding. 🙂
