Baby registries are SO OVERWHELMING. We are having a baby for the first time…and we’re supposed to know what she needs?! Hell if I know! Luckily I found some of the most helpful items through Live Wild Be Well Non-Toxic Baby Registry along with items through friends I follow on instagram. They would link a product they loved in stories and I would save it to add to our registry later. Do I have everything I need on there? Probably not. But that’s why having Amazon at our finger tips these days is a true lifesaver. We’ll figure out the rest along the way!
Hopefully this list helps you build your own baby registry! And if you think I’m missing any MUST HAVE items, please leave a comment in the comment section below!

Disclaimer: I’m a weirdo and somewhat of a minimalist. Also, my baby is 15, so my favorite things are somewhat dated.
I hate strollers. They always looked like a hassle. My kid was either walking or we carried him. On that note, the Ergo Baby was amazing… I stuffed my kid in it once when he was like 5 and asleep. So versatile!
My baby was colicky and the Miracle Blanket (aka “baby’s first straitjacket”) was… Miraculous. We used them long past an appropriate age because he loved the tight swaddle so much.
My favorite baby gift for potty training is the BEMIS potty training toilet seat. No need to keep a separate toddler toilet on the floor – those things are a waste of space and gross.
Hi Juli!
My babe is 11 months now and we have the Doona. I love it however as an fyi it is almost impossible to grocery shop alone, with the babe in tow, if using this stroller. The car seat takes up the entire basin of a normal size shopping cart leaving you with just the folding seat part for your items. Also the Doona does not have storage…we knew that going in but it is a small inconvenience. Other than that its super convenient to not have to wrangle so many seats and strollers. You have a great list here!
Also would add bapron bibs and num num gootensils for when you start solids.
Love the solly wrap so much, but after that phase is over (or if you’re going hiking when they’re little), we love our ergo baby Omni 360. Try a couple though if you can. My best friend loves the lillebaby. Find one you love. (We used ours a ton when our girls got older, for boat naps or hikes or whatever)
Big fans of a jogging/off road stroller. The UPPAbaby is great, don’t get me wrong, but when I really thought about my life, the Thule urban glide 2 and a second hand chariot are way more my style. We get a lot of snow here and I like to be able to run or tow them behind my bike and those two are great options for that. Look for older chariots (they’re originally from Calgary so maybe that’s why there are so many of the ones from before Thule bought them, but you can find so many) – they hold up super well and are really versatile.
Bottle wise – I waited 6 weeks with my first and we really had to work at it. With my second, we introduced one around 3 weeks and then were super consistent with it (every 4 days around dinner time feed, she did a bottle) and it was seamless. My main advice with bottles is if theyr taking it, don’t assume they’ll continue unless you consistently offer it.
As a labor and delivery nurse and midwifery student, your recent post about being unsure about baby registry caught my attention. Just a suggestion to check out Be Her Village. Praying all continues to go well with your pregnancy and birth. We have been following you since before you even were married, so it has been cool to see how you have grown as a blogger, author and even more importantly as a woman. I have kiddos a bit younger than you, thus the wistful note there.
OLLIE SWADDLE
Game changing and scientifically thought through in making. Check out their story. I tried maybe 6 swaddles before I bit the bullet bc it’s pricey and it was all I needed. Also, the book or app ‘Wonder Weeks’. Again, congrats Juli! So excited for yall!!
Washable Changing pad liners! Put them down on you changing pad. Shes bound to get poop all over and so these are easier to wash than the full changing pad cover.
Hello and Congrats! I’ve followed you for almost a decade now and live in Boulder, CO and have a 19th month year old daughter. So here are my biggest suggestions:
1. SNOO ALL THE WAY rent, because it’s better for the environment, and you will only use it 5 months max
2. The Owlet, for when you move her into her room
3. https://www.babylist.com/gp/jj-cole-car-seat-cover/2470/338289 Carseat cover because you live in CO and it’s warm and cozy
4. The Ergobaby wearer because both you and dad can wear it
5. Don’t buy any other changing pad but this!!! https://www.buybuybaby.com/store/product/keekaroo-reg-peanut-changer/3272011?skuId=65594728&AID=11411861&PID=8176653&SID=X3718539&utm_source=Baby+List&utm_medium=affiliate&utm_campaign=buybuyBABY+Deep+Link&mcid=AF_CJ___2805457&source=Commission+Junction&cjevent=5173aa5dd2be11ec8215006c0a1c0e11&cjdata=MXxOfDB8WXww
6. You will love the high chair you picked, buy a second set of cushions for when it gets dirty…and it will
7. Also buy this trust me you will use it! Baby Wearing Coat https://www.seraphine.com/en-us/khaki-3-in-1-winter-maternity-parka/
8. Other items we loved and used, diaper bag for you, I got a Marc Jacobs: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XS59313?psc=1&tag=blvisitor-20&th=1
and one for dad too: https://papercliplife.com/collections/shop
9. Loved this wearer for when she was really little: https://konnybaby.com/products/konny-baby-carrier-black-color?variant=14619657437242
10. Best truly, the best diaper and wipe company and they are small and the customer service is amazing: https://dyper.com/
11. Nursing pillow: https://nooksleep.com/products/organic-niche-nursing-pillow-blush?gclid=Cj0KCQjwg_iTBhDrARIsAD3Ib5g7aplLcyGLpadoMIp-2qS6c_TK1_Tw8gqDyQ0v328VI-TI8wssU1UaAtU8EALw_wcB You can literally use it for everything, feeding, resting, giving them a place to sleep on an airplane
12. So on the Elvie, I tried the Willow and honestly, lactation specialists in Boulder and at the Willow company both agree these are not the best for getting good production, I ended up returning and just getting this through my insurance which I used like crazy for over a year and traveled with it: https://www.medela.us/breastfeeding/products/breast-pumps/pump-in-style-insurance-breast-pump
13. Don’t store that precious milk in plastic single use bags, they leak a good 40% of the time, trust me we lost tons. We never found a great storage solution, but I know they have come up with more options (silicone, etc) that work better!
travel sound machine for the car – lots of babies hate the car
Ergo Baby 360 carrier + infant insert
more burp rags than you think you need – we have 30 and that is def enough
haaka lady bugs or the soft silicone pump or both
would consider reconsidering your bedside bassinet for one that has mesh sides in case baby rolls to her side – mesh sides are more breathable.
research safe sleep 7 in case you decide to bed share
lil sleepies brand jammies are THE BEST
car seats are massively toxic – sprayed with flame retardant. would reconsider Doona and look into Nuna.
@Legendairymilk on instagram is great for breastfeeding support. Flange size matters!!
Juli,
My girl is 6 months old and there’s my 2 cents…
1. Babyletto Mini Crib on wheels!! Cannot recommend this enough … I’d consider it. must have!!
2. Frida Rectal Thermometer… up until a year old… Rectal temperatures are what you measure – they are the most accurate core temperature you can get at home!
3. Doona Stroller/Carseat for SURE
4. BASIC every day clothes … People only want to buy you the cutesy fancy shit and you are going to change her outfit MANY times a day! Basic long sleeve onsies from Target or Carter’s or Old Navy or wherever! Definitely have about 15 to start!
4. ZUTANO baby booties. Do not even fk with socks.
5. Baby Buddah breast pump – 100% must have!! I have a Spectra and a Buddah…
6. Warmies! Little stuffed animals
you can put in the microwave for gas, fussiness, colic!!
7. Caden Lane long sleeve night gowns that TIE! Again, do not even fk with a million snaps trying to change a diaper at 2 am!
8. A booksack 🎒 style diaper bag!!
Sorry I didn’t read all of the other comments but my first thoughts on things I didn’t see was to add in: Earth mama nipple cream, earth mama perineal spray, tucks, diapers for you (trust me). Also water wipes are not as clean as they market to be, also to be honest they suck. Pipette is the least toxic brand. I prefer pampers pure due to quality of wipe and they’re still low on the toxic load list.
