That’s my excited face.

Oh sh*t. I can’t even hold it in. Word vomit is about to happen. I’M WRITING MY FIRST COOKBOOK!!

I’m literally tearing up just thinking about this. I’ve wanted this for so long and have gone back and forth about how I would accomplish this goal. But once I was approached by Scribe Publishing, I knew it was the right fit. Not only is the Publisher a CrossFitter as well, but she’s a paleo-er who gets my sense of humor and isn’t afraid of what I have to say. She’s so awesome.

I hadn’t thought about a writing a cookbook since my recipes are free over the internet, until readers began to ask for one. Which was very cool. It’s amazing people would actually want to purchase something when they can get it all free online. So really, I’m writing this cookbook for all of you who have supported me and wanted to show that support by purchasing a cookbook. So this cookbook will feature my favorite PaleOMG recipes along with many new recipes you won’t be able to find on the blog. Already have some good stuff for you!!

So what I want to know is, what are YOU looking for in a paleo cookbook? What is helpful to you and what would make your life easier in a paleo cookbook? Please leave your comments below and give your ideas because I’m making this cookbook for YOU all!

ANNNNNNND, omg, yes there is more. I’m now in the first steps of creating a PaleOMG app. Let’s be real here, obviously I am not the person doing it, I know nothing about anything…except sweets, but my good friend Peter who also put my website together for me, is doing the job. He’s amazing and spectacular so I’m trusting him to create something wonderful. BUT I want and need to know what you are looking for in a paleo app. I don’t do apps, I don’t really get them. I downloaded a food porn app once, but I’ve only looked at it once when I was too hungover to get out of bed. True story. So I need to know what people who actually use apps would like to see in a PaleOMG app?

Are you mad because there isn’t a recipe? Don’t you worry, there will be plenty all week!

I’d say keep it simple. Silly/funny commentary, list of ingredients, and instructions using as few words as possible.

You seem to have your own style and I love it. You keep things simple, fun and delicious. If your book was filled with more of the same I’d be all over it. I’m actually partial to the slow cooker meals just for the convenience factor. Nothing like having dinner ready when you walk in the door after work:) Thanks for all you do.

Congratulations!! Such awesome news and totally well deserved 🙂

What your blog has in common with so many of my favorite cookbooks is the storytelling aspect. (Yes, I’ve been known to curl up with cookbooks — Edna Lewis, MK Fisher, etc. — as bedtime reading lol.) Beyond your awesome recipes, you share stories that are funny and make you totally relatable. I’d love to see that in the cookbook as well. Also, any and all brownie recipes would be much appreciated 😉

    Again, congrats Juli!

That is so very cool, Juli! You know what is the most exciting for me about a cookbook? I can give it to other people as a gift. I am perpetually talking up paleo and CrossFit to any person who will give me an ear without their eyes rolling back in their head. SO many of my friends are curious about paleo but are completely overwhelmed by figuring out what to eat. Now I will be able to hand them your cookbook and say “Here, eat THIS.” Awesome.

Yes, Michelle, That is so true. Or I try and give them the recipes from my head, note “try” is the operative word there. So a cook book will be great!!!

Huge congrats!!! I started paleo about 3 months ago and one thing I can’t find is a grocery list, I’ve ended up scouring endless recipes just to find the most commonly used spices and ingredients. I LOVE your blog, only blog I’ve ever followed so I would love to also see more of your short stories and snarky humor in your book.

Your free recipes are great, can’t wait to buy the book.

Congratulations! I’m a big fan of cookbooks ~ like to take ’em to bed with me and pour over them.. and when I’m cooking , I like to write notes in them (extras to add in next time, quantities to adjust and so on!). I like the way your blog is divided up (easy to use) – so that might work well for the format. For extras, I’d like “serve this with” tips and also “what to do with leftovers” tips. A section on pre-workoout and post-workout snacks would be brilliant too … and (I know this may be pushing it- but you did ask!) .. for us endurance athletes out there… recipes for “on the run” would be perfect (“portable paleo”). Congratulations ahain ~ you deserve it! Jane

First things first! You are awesome! A book, a published cookbook, and an app talk about huge news! Way to go Juli, you are amazing. So what are your readers looking for, what do they want? Well I can only tell you about me. I would have to say keep it real, keep it about your journey through this life! The science behind the paleo life style and eating right can already be found in some other awesome books. What keeps people coming back to you is the whole reality of it all, your struggles, your victories, your honesty! Do not lose that, do not water it down! So happy and proud of you!

AWesome!! Congrats!! Suggestion, make sure you keep the ingredients simple. there is nothing more annoying then a fancy cookbook with 5 rando ingredients you have to buy for ever recipe!
    Good Luck!
