That’s my excited face.
Oh sh*t. I can’t even hold it in. Word vomit is about to happen. I’M WRITING MY FIRST COOKBOOK!!
I’m literally tearing up just thinking about this. I’ve wanted this for so long and have gone back and forth about how I would accomplish this goal. But once I was approached by Scribe Publishing, I knew it was the right fit. Not only is the Publisher a CrossFitter as well, but she’s a paleo-er who gets my sense of humor and isn’t afraid of what I have to say. She’s so awesome.
I hadn’t thought about a writing a cookbook since my recipes are free over the internet, until readers began to ask for one. Which was very cool. It’s amazing people would actually want to purchase something when they can get it all free online. So really, I’m writing this cookbook for all of you who have supported me and wanted to show that support by purchasing a cookbook. So this cookbook will feature my favorite PaleOMG recipes along with many new recipes you won’t be able to find on the blog. Already have some good stuff for you!!
So what I want to know is, what are YOU looking for in a paleo cookbook? What is helpful to you and what would make your life easier in a paleo cookbook? Please leave your comments below and give your ideas because I’m making this cookbook for YOU all!
ANNNNNNND, omg, yes there is more. I’m now in the first steps of creating a PaleOMG app. Let’s be real here, obviously I am not the person doing it, I know nothing about anything…except sweets, but my good friend Peter who also put my website together for me, is doing the job. He’s amazing and spectacular so I’m trusting him to create something wonderful. BUT I want and need to know what you are looking for in a paleo app. I don’t do apps, I don’t really get them. I downloaded a food porn app once, but I’ve only looked at it once when I was too hungover to get out of bed. True story. So I need to know what people who actually use apps would like to see in a PaleOMG app?
Are you mad because there isn’t a recipe? Don’t you worry, there will be plenty all week!

The one thing I can never find recipes for is lunch. Salads don’t count, and leftovers make bad lunches. There is plenty of breakfast and dinner recipes, but never any lunch, any chance you could make lunch happen?
Leftovers make bad lunches?!?!
I like the idea of putting extra recipes along the side of the page. It’d be nice to pair main dishes with simple sides (like roasting some veggies or something because I don’t even know how to do that if somebody doesn’t tell me what veggies roast well).
Congrats! What I want in a cookbook is exactly what you are already doing. Don’t change anything, I like your simple easy to find ingredience recipes that taste great and don’t use weird or hard to find stuff. Way to go!!!!
Awesome news Julie and I echo all of the comments! Think of a name for the cookbook yet?
OMG. That’s awesome!! Congrats!
In the cookbook: Describe as much as possible! Worriers like me are always afraid to mess up on recipes so as much detail on how to cook a dish as possible! Also keep your stories and humor in the book. Make it fun like the website!!! 🙂
In the app: I mostly use apps for when I’m on the road, so maybe have a section that tells you what paleo foods you can get a fast food restraunts. Also keep the recipes you’ll have on there short and sweet. I personally hate having to read a lot on a small screen. Then just have a link to you’re website for more detail. 🙂
I’m SO SO SO SO SO SO SO HAPPY for YOU!!
(I’ve been following you’re blog for a while, just have never commented. I LOVE you’re recipes.)
Yay for you and lucky for us!! Your recipes have been helping me prove to others that life doesn’t end after going paleo. Of all the paleo cookbooks I have, I like the first part of Make it Paleo best. The book is super easy to navigate because it has a ‘contents’ page at the front and also a breakdown of recipes by meal (breakfast, lunch, appetizers etc) with the name and page of each. I love food porn, so good pictures (lots and lots of them) are key for me when I’m looking at cook books to buy….no worries for you though because I love your food pictures..they really do make me want to try the recipes. As far as an app, not that you’d want to do one exactly like nomnompaleos, but hers is pretty kick ass–great pictures, step by steps, food lists, super easy to navigate. People have been begging her for an android version so it’s a good idea to make stuff for both iPhone/iPad and android. ABOVE ALL ELSE: let your hysterical sense of humor and snarkiness shine through because that’s what sets you apart from everybody else. I buy whatever you come up with and review it on my site 🙂
Congratulations! That is very exciting news – I can’t wait to order it!
we need a paleo windows app. pretty please?
Yes to both the cookbook and the app. I am so excited about both.. can you do both android and iphone/ipad..
Congrats..I can’t wait to order the book!
Congrats! I knew it would happen soon and I look forward to purchasing your cookbook!
The big ‘win’ for me in terms of Paleo/Primal recipes is being about to make ahead and reheat for my meals, especially lunch. Being successful in this lifestyle is all about planning ahead.
That’s is awesome news! I can’t wait to see it! I love all things pork for recipe ideas. I also love to see what you do n eat in a days work. N stories, LOTS of stories. But wait you can’t dance in a cook book?
