That’s my excited face.

Oh sh*t. I can’t even hold it in. Word vomit is about to happen. I’M WRITING MY FIRST COOKBOOK!!

I’m literally tearing up just thinking about this. I’ve wanted this for so long and have gone back and forth about how I would accomplish this goal. But once I was approached by Scribe Publishing, I knew it was the right fit. Not only is the Publisher a CrossFitter as well, but she’s a paleo-er who gets my sense of humor and isn’t afraid of what I have to say. She’s so awesome.

I hadn’t thought about a writing a cookbook since my recipes are free over the internet, until readers began to ask for one. Which was very cool. It’s amazing people would actually want to purchase something when they can get it all free online. So really, I’m writing this cookbook for all of you who have supported me and wanted to show that support by purchasing a cookbook. So this cookbook will feature my favorite PaleOMG recipes along with many new recipes you won’t be able to find on the blog. Already have some good stuff for you!!

So what I want to know is, what are YOU looking for in a paleo cookbook? What is helpful to you and what would make your life easier in a paleo cookbook? Please leave your comments below and give your ideas because I’m making this cookbook for YOU all!

ANNNNNNND, omg, yes there is more. I’m now in the first steps of creating a PaleOMG app. Let’s be real here, obviously I am not the person doing it, I know nothing about anything…except sweets, but my good friend Peter who also put my website together for me, is doing the job. He’s amazing and spectacular so I’m trusting him to create something wonderful. BUT I want and need to know what you are looking for in a paleo app. I don’t do apps, I don’t really get them. I downloaded a food porn app once, but I’ve only looked at it once when I was too hungover to get out of bed. True story. So I need to know what people who actually use apps would like to see in a PaleOMG app?

Are you mad because there isn’t a recipe? Don’t you worry, there will be plenty all week!

    I think it would be great if you could hold a contest allowing your readers to submit one of their own Paleo recipes to be possibly featured here on the website and then into the book with yours!! I’m up for the challenge.

    Haven’t read through all the responses, but would love the nutritional analysis of each recipe.. Calories,fat, carbs..blah blah..

    Woo hoo! Can’t wait. My wish list for a paleo cookbook would include lots of snack ideas and also paleo ideas for backpacking. Maybe not entirely appropriate for your book, but a couple ideas. BTW, Congratulations!!

    Congratulations! This is something all of your fans have been hopefull for. As you said, your website is free but we would all be happy to support you in return. It’s the least we can all do. Speaking of, have you thought about hosting cooking parties for small groups? I would love to collaborate with you on that if it’s something you ever decide to explore.

    Cooking book:
    -A better solution for tortillas. I recently tried to make your avocado cream enchiladas and the tortillas didn’t come out.
    -Caloric and nutritional breakdowns.
    -crispy chille rellinos (sp)

    I look forward to both the book and the app. Cheers!

    Regards,
    Emily

    One thing I would love in a Paleo cookbook is if you included substitutions. Sometimes it is hard to get some Paleo ingredients, like certain oils, and have them on hand when you need them. Maybe you can include some side notes of what you can use if you dont have or cant find an ingredient. And I LOVE LOVE the app idea!!! I use recipe apps and it’s fun to browse when you are just looking for something to pass some time. Plus we’re visiting the in laws (wah wah wah) soon and that would be super helpful, since they don’t have internet, for me!! Congrats Girl! So excited for you 😀

    Just getting into paleo. Made a bunch of your recipes so far…great success. Even made them at work(a firehouse) and they’re overly critical and they really liked it. Good stuff keep up the good work!

    Congratulations!! I would say; “be yourself – and share what you love” – can’t wait to buy it.

    **Congratulations! I am definitely buying it!**

    What do I want in a cookbook? Since you asked, I won’t hold back:

    ::Keep the font and layout simple:: Example, “Well Fed” is awesomely sexy to initially look at, but when it comes time to get to the nitty-gritty of the actual recipes, there is way too much going-on on each page, it is chaos, and even though the recipes may be amazing, having three or four fonts in small type on every page is hard on the eyes. “Paleo Comfort Foods” and “Everyday Paleo” do a great job with layout and using the KISS principle.

    ::Picture(s) with every recipe please::
    Folks are more likely to try out a recipe that has a picture. Plus pictures are awesome. Yes, they add to the cost, but I am willing to pay for quality

    ::A kickass index::
    Or better yet, multiple indexes in the back.

    ::Recommended Food Pairings / Menus::
    Great way to give readers ideas of different recipes of yours that would really complement each other.

    Just my thoughts as a cookbook lover, and huge fan of your writing style and humor. Thanks for being you, and excited you have this opportunity!

    Ha – you know those diagrams they have that show the steps in the fox trot or similar dances? It’s like foot, line – line – line – line, foot?

    You should have a few pages of how to break down your dance moves. I would love that.
