That’s my excited face.

Oh sh*t. I can’t even hold it in. Word vomit is about to happen. I’M WRITING MY FIRST COOKBOOK!!

I’m literally tearing up just thinking about this. I’ve wanted this for so long and have gone back and forth about how I would accomplish this goal. But once I was approached by Scribe Publishing, I knew it was the right fit. Not only is the Publisher a CrossFitter as well, but she’s a paleo-er who gets my sense of humor and isn’t afraid of what I have to say. She’s so awesome.

I hadn’t thought about a writing a cookbook since my recipes are free over the internet, until readers began to ask for one. Which was very cool. It’s amazing people would actually want to purchase something when they can get it all free online. So really, I’m writing this cookbook for all of you who have supported me and wanted to show that support by purchasing a cookbook. So this cookbook will feature my favorite PaleOMG recipes along with many new recipes you won’t be able to find on the blog. Already have some good stuff for you!!

So what I want to know is, what are YOU looking for in a paleo cookbook? What is helpful to you and what would make your life easier in a paleo cookbook? Please leave your comments below and give your ideas because I’m making this cookbook for YOU all!

ANNNNNNND, omg, yes there is more. I’m now in the first steps of creating a PaleOMG app. Let’s be real here, obviously I am not the person doing it, I know nothing about anything…except sweets, but my good friend Peter who also put my website together for me, is doing the job. He’s amazing and spectacular so I’m trusting him to create something wonderful. BUT I want and need to know what you are looking for in a paleo app. I don’t do apps, I don’t really get them. I downloaded a food porn app once, but I’ve only looked at it once when I was too hungover to get out of bed. True story. So I need to know what people who actually use apps would like to see in a PaleOMG app?

Are you mad because there isn’t a recipe? Don’t you worry, there will be plenty all week!

It was only a matter of time!!! I have other paleo cookbooks but they lack your flair for taking food to a different level. Your personality had better be there…that is what makes me smile when I cook something you have posted.

Have fun but BE YOURSELF! Congrats!!!!! XO

Oh I forgot about the app!! I have seen other paleo apps…not impressed! First, make it for BOTH my phone and tablet…I HATE when I am forced to use my tablet vertically. I want it horizontal!! Second…here I go with the counting again…I want it be useful long term…I have bought apps that have info that read and then I never look at them again. Grrrrrrr…ok also: quick tips and how about a grocery list, a getting started page and a 30 day paleo challenge meal plan that utilizes leftovers and is SUPER simple to follow. That should go in your cookbook maybe too! And my very last request is that somewhere you cover prepping, storing and cooking for the week ahead…it sounds easy to grill up 7 salmon peices but sometimes it is overwhelming to cook for the week! Please make it simple!!!!

Congrats.. a lot of great ideas already so I will 2nd (or third) them.

    One pot recipes
    Replacements and substitutions
    snack ideas
Fast and busy recipes( I don’t have time to cook lets order pizza, should not be my response)
Spice variations and combinations (would be great to learn some spice skills. Like what the hell can I use turmeric in or with)
For the noobs who are now using the whole produce section, how to prepare uncommonly used items (fennel, kohlrabi, beets)

Yay! Congrats! I think you should definitely make sure there are pictures to go with every recipe because I hate looking at cookbooks and not everything has a picture next to it.. like how do i know if mine looks right?! i think you can also include alternatives to how to make something, for example a lot of your recipes involve a food processor but sadly i dont have one of those yet..you could put a little comment in there about the best way to mix the/chop the food without using one. just a suggestion!

That’s amazeballs. I am so freakin happy to hear this. You could write a book (minus the cook) with just all of your blog posts put together & I would still buy it because you are just fantabuliciously delightful.

Definitely have a section devoted to sweets & treats because my life isn’t complete without them. As much as I try to tell myself that I cooouuuulllddd be complete without them, I’ve come to the conclusion that, well, I just can’t g’damnit! I’ve tried 10,000 times to be sans sweets. My brain isn’t ready for it yet (BUT- maybe have a section in your book for sugar detox recipes when I AM ready. Then I will be prepared. BOO YA!) I’m a huge fan of coconut flour, so lots of recipes with those please. Staple foods would be good too…. like Paleo bread & things like that. Good variety of breakfast/lunch/dinner/snacks that are simple to make & don’t take too crazy long. I’m all about quick & easy.

I don’t use apps a whole lot so you got me there.

Best of luck with everything! Very excited for you!

I’m new to your blog but I am super excited about your cookbook! 😀

I love that you don’t take cooking way seriously and are cool with saying “mix all ingredients together” rather than being all proper and making it 3 different steps. keep that attitude!

I don’t want lectures and research about how this food is good for me. Duh! I know that or I wouldn’t have the cookbook!

I want food that fits into my everyday life. I love shit like leg of lamb, but seriously? On a Monday night, give me some herby porkchops & I’ll feel gourmet. I have enough fancy cookbooks. I want shit that’s fast enough, simple enough, and delicious – just like the recipes on your blog.

In short, just do what you do best & rock on! (And since you rock super hard on paleo treats, please have a chapter of that! :D)

I’ve been reading your blog for a while now and LOVE it! Mainly because of your awesome sense of humor. So definitely keep that alive. It’d be great to see a few more salad type dishes, like a cole slaw, etc. A lot of your dishes are heavier and full of meat (which is awesome), but I’d love to see some lighter side dishes to go with all the fantastic meat entrees you create. Can’t wait to buy the book!

Congrats! One thing I’ve been looking for in a Paleo Cookbook is a book or section in a book for Paleo Zone recipes, with the blocks calculated per serving. When I zone, I tend to get in a boring rut, and something like this would be AMAZING!

Yay!!!! I will definitely be buying your cookbook. First off it has to have pics because if I’m gonna make something I want to know what it’s suppose to look like. It would also be nice if you had a section for sauces and of course dessert. I think another helpful thing would be to have a section that shows what ingredients can be switched out for other ingredients. Congrats again on the cookbook. I know it’s gonna be awesome!!

Congratulations! Itd be great if you included a weekly menu/plan of meals. And included a grocery list!

    1. Olga says:

I have just started Paleo. Only one week! I’m doing my meal plan for the second week, and I’m all over your website. I appreciate all of your recipes and the no- nonsense advice, just how you tell it like it is. I would definitely pay for your book, recipes or not! You are a true inspiration and extremely down to earth! Love that!

As a new Paleo-pal I would like to see on a cookbook:’
      – Grab and Go snacks. I’m having a hard time pairing things up.
      – A weekly sample menu
      – Ditto on the pictures. I like to see how things are supposed to look so I know I haven’t cooked things to little or too long!
      – Definitely a staples grocery list. Just the main things you’d need to get started.

      For an App:
      – On the go snacks
      – Restaurants’ Paleo Foods. What to order, Where
      – Grocery list allowing the user to add/modify the list when shopping.
      – Recipe of the Week?
      – A daily inspirational/motivational-get-your-butt-off the-couch and make or do something Paleo
      – Cross Fit examples

Once again, thank you for all you are doing. I love your blog and all of the info. You Rock!!!
