That’s my excited face.
Oh sh*t. I can’t even hold it in. Word vomit is about to happen. I’M WRITING MY FIRST COOKBOOK!!
I’m literally tearing up just thinking about this. I’ve wanted this for so long and have gone back and forth about how I would accomplish this goal. But once I was approached by Scribe Publishing, I knew it was the right fit. Not only is the Publisher a CrossFitter as well, but she’s a paleo-er who gets my sense of humor and isn’t afraid of what I have to say. She’s so awesome.
I hadn’t thought about a writing a cookbook since my recipes are free over the internet, until readers began to ask for one. Which was very cool. It’s amazing people would actually want to purchase something when they can get it all free online. So really, I’m writing this cookbook for all of you who have supported me and wanted to show that support by purchasing a cookbook. So this cookbook will feature my favorite PaleOMG recipes along with many new recipes you won’t be able to find on the blog. Already have some good stuff for you!!
So what I want to know is, what are YOU looking for in a paleo cookbook? What is helpful to you and what would make your life easier in a paleo cookbook? Please leave your comments below and give your ideas because I’m making this cookbook for YOU all!
ANNNNNNND, omg, yes there is more. I’m now in the first steps of creating a PaleOMG app. Let’s be real here, obviously I am not the person doing it, I know nothing about anything…except sweets, but my good friend Peter who also put my website together for me, is doing the job. He’s amazing and spectacular so I’m trusting him to create something wonderful. BUT I want and need to know what you are looking for in a paleo app. I don’t do apps, I don’t really get them. I downloaded a food porn app once, but I’ve only looked at it once when I was too hungover to get out of bed. True story. So I need to know what people who actually use apps would like to see in a PaleOMG app?
Are you mad because there isn’t a recipe? Don’t you worry, there will be plenty all week!

I would love to see a shopping list, especially for those newer to paleo, and snack ideas. That is definitely where I struggle the most. Also, you should add random little stories throughout like on your blog =)
Congrats!!!! Keep that awesome sense of humor in your cookbook!
First, congrats! Your website is one of the reasons for my success on the Paleo way of eating. AND, many of your recipes have convinced my picky hubby and co-workers too!
What do I want to see? Meal plans! A sample week of what to eat Paleo, breakfasts, snacks, lunch and dinner. Laid out as a week so we can use it as a reference and have to think as little as possible. Because as a working Mommy, I have very few brain cells left for meal planning. 😉 Hooray for you and for us your fans!
“what are YOU looking for in a paleo cookbook?” Less sweets, more Meats!
Congrats! This is so exciting! And I want to be put on the wait list NOW for it. I have yet to buy my first paleo cookbook, so this will have to be my first!
My biggest thing when it comes to paleo diet is the planning and having everything in order. Shopping lists for the week are helpful. But that’s also kind of lame in a cookbook. So basically make some badass food and take awesome photos and those puppies will sell themselves!
On another note, the app is great. Perfect for when you’re at the grocery store and need to figure out what to buy for a meal or two. Epicurious is organized really well, you may want to look to that app for inspiration.

That is awesome I am so excited for you!!!!!
Congrats! Super exciting! One thing I am looking for is an easy way to cook in advance and freeze meals or leftovers. Also easy side dishes and crock pot meals. For an app it would be nice if it would build a shopping list. Best of luck, Juli!! Can’t wait to hear what you come up with for a title!
How about a reverse pantry app? Where you can put in what you’ve already got (blueberries, ground beef, whatever), and it gives you some recipes that include those ingredients? That might require a ginormous database of recipes though, I don’t know how these things actually work.
The other kind of app that would be handy would be a “Paleo in a Panic” thing — it’s 5:30 and you’ve got 2 seriously hungry kids on a day from hell when your crockpot is broken so nothing’s cooking — what can you make FAST? Got bacon? Make this. Got beef? Make this? Got almonds? Make this. That sort of thing. If that’s even possible.
And for the cookbook, please cross-reference or make a kick-ass index! I hate when I can’t find all the Ground Beef recipes, or I’ve got a mountain of fresh blueberries but I don’t see all the recipes that contain blueberries. I’m uptight that way — I want to know all my options before I decide.
You’re awesome, your blog is awesome, and I know your cookbook and app will be too. Looking forward to it!
Yes! Kick ass index! So many otherwise awesome paleo books have stupidly bad indexes.
Holy moley…only some of your goodies??? So far every single one I tried has been completely delish! Also, the best cookbooks ever include full color pic of the end result & my new Paleo one had menus which I have to admit I was a bit giddy to see.
Coffee Chocolate Muffins were yummy last night btw…no one can get enough of the Blueberry Choc Chip Pumpkin loaf either…I have made like 9 loaves of it in 2 weeks!
Congratulations!!! how exciting!!!
Will you have awesome commentary in the cookbook? I crack up every time I read your blog. It is AMAZING! good luck with the cookbook. I cannot wait to purchase it!
