Something I love about Denver is that is has about a million different restaurants to choose from. Which sometimes makes it hard to not eat out for every single meal. Especially when it comes to the perfect smoothie bowl. There is a place called Whole Sol which is completely gluten free and doesn’t include any weird ingredients. I’ve gone to another smoothie shop in town and saw them pouring Hershey syrup in my smoothie. Not exactly what I’m looking for when it comes to a post workout snack. It tasted f*cking awesome though. But Whole Sol doesn’t do that. They use completely organic ingredients and they make some of the tastiest smoothie bowls ever! Including a PB&J smoothie bowl, which inspired this recipe!
How cute are my husband hands in this photo? He’s such a great helper. He also told me that this was the best thing he’s ever put in his mouth. I love him more every day!
I REALLY love my husband now that our bathroom renovation HAS FINALLY ENDED!!!! It ended last week and I could not be happier. It took 3 damn months but daaaaaaamn I’m obsessed. I sometimes stand in the shower, singing about how much I love our bathroom, Jessica Day style. It’s bright, it’s beautiful, and we don’t have weird standing water in our shower at all times. As we all know, most contractors suck ass and once you start construction on your own house, you quickly see how bad your last contract sucked. We continue to find more and more problems as we begin looking a little closer and seeing how proper construction is done. Why can’t people just do their job? Like proper waterproofing in the shower. It seems like a pretty simple request.
I’m planning to put a post about my experience with our bathroom renovation along with a video, but I wanted to see if you guys had any specific questions about renovations before I put the post together? I’m going to share all the companies in Denver that were awesome (maybe along with the ones that sucked), what I would do differently next time, and what things to think about before your start your own renovation! Let me know if you would like me to talk about anything else! In the meantime, I’m going to go make this smoothie bowl and eat it from my new shower. Kbyyyyyyyyye.

YUM. Why are smoothies more fun in a bowl than drinking from a cup?
so much more fun!
Am very interested to hear what you have to share about your renovation! We’re considering renovating our bathrooms in our home, specifically starting with the master bath. The house was built in 2000 and is just dated and the bathroom just doesn’t have the most efficient use of space (plus the tile is just awful). We live in the Denver area as well so definitely would LOVE to hear who you would and would not refer. And, perhaps if you wouldn’t mind sharing just a ballpark number for estimates that you received? Understand if you’re not comfortable sharing what you ended up spending. I’ve never renovated anything before (only painted the interior so far) and I’m terrified of how pricey it might be. Appreciate you sharing the experience! And this recipe looks so yummy!
kat, i’ll definitely talk about some of that. it really depends on how much you want to spend and what you’re willing to give up. tile is one of those things that can be super expensive if that’s the tile you are set on. and if you’re willing to go with different faucets, that can change the price as well. i’ll talk about all of that in my bathroom renovation post!!
I am wondering what hardware (if any) you picked and where you got it from. I am redoing my kitchen and love like a million different cabinet/drawer pulls. I have looked at home depot but was also recommended Denver Hardware. Can’t wait to see your new bathroom!
amazon is where it’s at! f*ck home depot and that awful store. there is an endless amount of cabinet hardware on amazon!!
I’m considering renovating my kitchen, but it seems so daunting I’m deathly afraid to pull the trigger. I can’t imagine not having a working kitchen for 3 months! In addition to any tips and tricks regarding the reno, can you think of anything that could possibly help with a kitchen reno? I know that may seem difficult since you haven’t personally experienced that, but anything you can think of would be appreciated!
i’ll definitely keep that in mind. after going through the bathroom reno experience, i can’t imagine redoing the kitchen either. but it would be so worth it long term since so much time is spent in the kitchen!
Yum! What a perfect summer smoothie. Congrats on the renovation being completed, I am sure it is a relief to have it done!
thanks Jo!
First and foremost…can’t wait to make this smoothie bowl because anything pb&j flavored is life!!
Can’t wait to hear about your reno experience as well. I can’t imagine all the hell you experienced but you survived it! We live in an older home and will eventually have to update the bathrooms and kitchen, which just thinking about it gives me so much anxiety. Just way too many decisions to make on top of worrying if we picked the right contractors!! I would like to hear about the materials you ended up going with and why you chose them. Right now I feel like just moving out and starting over!! lol
i’ll definitely chat about that Melissa!! good luck with your own renovations in the future!!
Curious as to what raspberry jam you used?! Thanks!!
i actually linked the exact jam in the section where it says ‘what i used to make this recipe’! it’s called bonne maman
It’s good, I love the additions of flaxseed, chia, and hemp hearts – I’ve never tried all of those items before and I was stunned how much protein the two have!
I’m so curious though why jam over fresh fruit? I kind of was surprised about that ingredient especially with this being on a paleo site. You can get the same flavor with blending up fresh strawberries/ raspberries without the extra sugar and it’d make for a more satisfying topper! Other than that really good 🙂
This smoothie was LIFE. I didn’t even have the collagen or hemp seeds and it was a replica of PBJ. I love your recipes, probably like my hundredth so far and never fails 🙂
