You guys. Dandelions have TAKEN OVER OUR YARD. We mowed on Sunday and they are already a foot above the grass. One day, I was feeling pumped up and began pulling a crap ton. Those roots are insanity. And they almost gross me out. It’s like pulling a dozen thick worms. And then there are spiders and other creatures everywhere. And the roots just break most of the time as you pull them. So it’s not even satisfying. And that means they are going to grow back. It’s so frustrating. And all these people on my instagram told me I need to leave the dandelions because the bees need them. Which I 100% get. But we have neighbors who have the most beautiful lawn on earth and I’m pretty sure they were hoping for neighbors who would actually care for their lawn, unlike they’ve had in the past. I don’t mind having a couple dandelions, but that just isn’t possible. When there is one, there is about to be one thousand. That’s just a simple fact. What the hell to do?

Moving on. After living with carpet for the past year and now having only wood floors…omg. It grosses me out. I might as well keep sweeping and mopping every single moment of every single day. I can’t imagine what our carpet looked like deep inside. And how do people with dogs that shed A LOT keep up with that sh*t? Jackson sheds a good amount, but they are small hairs so you can’t see them as easily. And the hair still drives me absolutely nuts. But for real, the floors are always dirty. Have any of you bought a Rumba? I think that needs to go high on our priority list. Probably after furniture since we don’t have that yet.

I just found the best self tanner ever. EVER! My calluses may be brown, but whatever, at least my skin is a little darker without tanning beds!

My eye will not stop twitching. Two days now, two freaking days.

Wait, back to the house stuff. Stop getting distracted. I’m so excited because since we’ve ordered furniture, placed an order with a friend to make our dining table, got a new mattress and started working on the bedroom, I’ll soon have some house furnishing posts for you! Spicing it up a little bit. There will still be lots of food, fashion fridays and workouts, but now there will be a little home decor ideas as well! I recently started posting pictures of my vanity area in my bedroom, but that still needs a couple touches. So I think I’m going to talk about my mattress I got recently. Because it’s amazing. Have you ever heard of intellibed? It’s a non toxic, gel material bed that has amazing back support and helps regulate blood flow. When I started doing research about beds when we moved into our new house, the stats about this bed and all the amazing feedback won we over. I seriously had no idea how toxic a mattress can be. Frightening.

But get this, I’ll even have a discount for you guys. Yessir. I’m working with this company to save you money and get you sleeping a healthy, deep sleep. Sofreakingpumped. But until then, drink this. Because it’s delicious. And inspired by Ginger Newtrition adrenal cocktail which uses cold pressed orange juice, collagen, and salt to make the most delicious drink. This time I just spiced it up a little bit! Thanks for the inspiration, you amazing health coach you!

Oh, Hi! I’m Juli.

I’m a food hoarder. And a really bad dancer. If you don’t know me well, you will probably not understand my humor. Therefore, I apologize ahead of time. Thanks for listening to my ramblings of my ever-changing life and trusting my kitchen mishaps. Your trust in me is appreciated.

  1. my eye has been twitching for at least 3 weeks now 😉
and yes, we have a Roomba and it’s the best thing ever. hands down. we bought ours at bed bath and beyond, and when the battery starts to wear out or something breaks off we trade it in for a new one. we have had at least 3 over the past 6 years and only paid an upgrade fee once. we have a german shepherd, or german shedder as we affectionately call her. get one. even before a couch. you could sit on your clean floor………… just saying.

  2. We bought a house with espresso brown, dark hardwood floors. They are stunning, the 5 seconds a year they are clean.

  3. We have all hardwood floors on our main living floor, and we <3 our Roomba!!! We have a german shorthaired pointer, and he sheds his short hairs like you wouldn't believe. And Roomba picks them right up plus all the dirt he brings in on his nails after digging for chipmunks in the backyard. The dog did attack Roomba once, but Dad set him straight on that point. And Roomba has been safe ever since. Best wedding present we got, hands down.

I moved into a new house about 18 months ago and had the same type of lawn care issue but with crabgrass. No matter what I did it kept coming back. I decided to let the professionals handle it and I got a TruGreen contract. I’m not sure if you have TruGreen in CO, but I’m sure you have someone like them. They take care of everything: weeds and fertilizing, and you can also get shrub care and insect control. I pay $450 for the year and it is well worth it. AND, if they don’t kill something you want killed they’ll come back for free as often as needed. It’s saved me a ton of time and headache. [No, I don’t work for them and I wasn’t paid to write this.]

      1. Does this self tanner come off when you work out and sweat? I’m usually drenched during and after my workouts and previous tanners I have used come off on my work out clothes and the towel I’m using to wipe the sweat from my face. And does it smell bad? And I love your house, congrats!!

  5. I also have a Neato, it is awesome. Program it to run once a day and it keeps up with the fur.

I also highly recommend the Furminator dog brush – it brushes out a disgusting amount of fur from my lab!

  6. Swiffer for the hard wood floors! I actually like having all hard wood instead of carpet. It feels much cleaner to me. Just keep a swiffer and a broom nearby and give it a once over every day or so and then do a full cleaning – vinegar/water combo once a week.

  7. We have hardwood floors in the entire house. We have two roombas (one for each level) and we LOVE them! Our floors always look great, plus there’s so much less dust on the furniture and around the house. Get one, now, you won’t regret it!

We also have a Brava for sweeping/washing bathroom floors and entry areas, which I use pretty often. Aaaand, there’s a robomower living in our backyard, which keeps the lawn in check: No work in the garden AND our lawn looks great all the time. We have an overachieving neighbour with perfect lawn as well and our lawn looks almost as nice as his, even though we don’t care the least about our lawn. Of course, by close inspection you’ll notice that we have lots of dandelions, clover etc. in the grass. But you can’t see it, because busy little robomow keeps it nice and trimmed. Yay for robots in the house!

  8. Ummm just wait if you ever have a kid you will be even more grossed out by the floors. I mean, my kid crawls on the floor then sticks his hairy hand in his mouth all day. Oh well, he’s still alive so score for me!

  9. Get a roomba!!! It changed my life! It’s the best, you will love it!! I agonized over getting one for years and I wish I would have bought one sooner!

  10. YES! I have a Roomba and it is the best. Seriously worth it. It’s like having company when you’re home alone haha. Sad. But true. Though you have Jackson for that… I don’t have a dog 🙂

  11. It is a little weird, but having a cleaning service come in even once or twice a month is ~* heavenly *~ and probably more affordable than you’d think. I know it’s weird having a stranger all up in your stuff, but if you find someone you trust it’s really not bad.

  12. Juli – do you have a recipe to make coconut cream? I thought I remember seeing it on the blog but can’t find it in the search. Thanks!

  13. I have to have a dissenting robot vacuum opinion. We have all hard floors, a Frenchie, and a Roomba. I will say it keeps the floor cleaner than without it, but it misses a lot. It also gets stuck under furniture and so tangled (I have long dark hair like you which it hates) that I have to take it apart to clean it, so it doesn’t seem like it’s saving me much time. It ruined my daughter’s bedskirt when it got tangled in it. This morning I found the damned thing dragging a towel I’d put at the door for my Frenchie to step on because it’s muddy outside, so it dragged mud all over the house instead of sucking it up. Just my opinion, I’d rather spend $$ on house pretties and spend a few minutes in the afternoon dust-mopping! Lots of people love them though!

  14. We used to use a conventional lawn service and we had a beautiful lush lawn with no weeds, but I hated all the chemicals they used. We now use an organic service. It takes a little longer to work and doesn’t quite get all the weeds, but it’s good enough. And when my dog rolls around out in the grass I don’t have to fear that I am poisoning him. Plus you’ll still get to pull a few dandelions for funsies. Good luck!

  15. I’m always looking for a good self tanner. I recently tried Nature’s Gate Sunless Tanner and I love it. Try it out…no nasty chemicals 🙂

  16. I loooooove my Roomba! Best purchase ever hands down.
I also wanted to say I’m loving 2015 positive Juli, it’s infectious 🙂

  17. We got a Roomba BEFORE we got most of our furniture in our new house (seriously like day 8 of living there) and it was the best purchase ever. We have all hardwood floors and a dog too, and I couldn’t even sweep up the hair – it would just fly around and land back on the damn hardwood. The Roomba gets it all – serious lifesaver. Plus it’s fun to watch the dog run away from it.

  18. Want to get the Intellibed after your recommendation!! Do you know about when you will have a code? Our house burned down here in TX last Thursday and we need new mattresses ASAP and I remembered you recommended these!! Thanks so much!!!!

    1. OMG I’m so sorry! That’s absolutely terrible! Funny you wrote that because the post was suppose to go live yesterday, but we are finishing up some small details to bring you more than just 10% off your bed! At the latest, the post will go live on Monday. Can you wait until Monday? If you can’t, email me at juli@paleomg.com and I will get you in contact with intellibed right away. I absolutely don’t want you to have to wait longer, but I also want to make sure you get the extras other than just the 10% off!

  19. Does the self tanner stay on or does it run or come off when you sweat? I’m drenched with sweat when I run and during my work outs. Self tanners I have tried in the past come off and it’s on my clothes and the towel I use to wipe the sweat off me. Thanks!

  20. You know, I’m really surprised no one suggested seeing your chiro for your twitching eye. I too had a twitching eye for probably 6-9 months and finally asked my trainer about it. Have your C1 adjusted. It did the trick for me. It took a couple weeks though! Good luck!

  21. I tried this shake and I actually love it, although I hate bananas and coconuts.
In this combination I like it.

Thank you for this amazone recipe.

  22. Hi Juli. I don’t have the collagen. Is there a substitute I can use or do I just omit it? The recipe sounds delicious. I cannot wait to try it.
