The past 5 years, the world of paleo, gluten-free and all-natural has completely changed. More people are opening their eyes and understanding that REAL food really is important. The saying you are what you eat is finally resonating with people. And now more than ever, companies are stepping up and bringing real food with real ingredients to local grocery stores. And it’s helping people take responsibility for not only their own health, but the companies, farmers and communities around them. I’m continually amazed by the new products, new knowledge, and new excitement that people now have for living their best life possible!
But building these communities and spreading the word about healthy food and healthy lifestyles cannot be done by just one person. It takes an army. And it takes perseverance. Luckily, I have met an amazing woman who perseveres through any bump in the road, any setback, and any stumble. Because she deeply believes in the power of health and what it can do for this world. I’m talking about Cassy Joy of Fed & Fit. I met Cassy years ago at PaleoFX and was instantly drawn to her vivacious personality and constant giggling. But what was hiding behind those laughs and smiles was an incredibly hardworking woman who wouldn’t take no for an answer, who wouldn’t settle and a person who would never listen to the people who doubted her.
I say all this because Cassy is a woman who will take on anything and EVERYTHING, all at once. And people will continue to tell her to slow down or hold back, but she won’t. She wakes up every morning to a day with unlimited possibilities and she conquers all those possibilities. She has hundreds of recipes on her website, a best-selling cookbook, holiday ebook, a podcast, an online program, she does constant FB Live cooking videos, and she’s constantly prepping and planning for something in the future. She’s a go-getter and she inspires me every time I’m with her.
Even though Cassy and I don’t live in the same state, we are always bouncing ideas off of each other, giving each other advice, and finding new ways to work together. Our first project together came to fruition all because of Cassy. When she was writing her first book, she asked if I wanted to play a part in it. And when she mentioned it would be creating the workouts for her fitness section in her book, I was totally in! And that choice was one of the best decisions I could have ever made. Playing a very small part in her amazing book not only brought us closer, but it made me want to work with her in so many more ways.
Our friendship and business relationship started small with her doing a guest post on my blog, me being on her podcast, her being on mine, then me writing the workouts in the fitness section for her book, to also filming the step-by-step process of her program that helps you kickstart your health and take control of your future! And guess what? We want to work together in even more ways and are brainstorming how we can spread the word of health to even more people!
This past weekend we started our brainstorming session at Expo West; thinking about how to work together, how to grow our businesses and how to work with more companies to spread the word about healthy living. And all great brainstorming sessions start with delicious coffee and a feel-good look. So we put together looks that we felt our best in, including this pair of comfortable strappy sandals for me and bejeweled flats for Cassy, and both ordered ourselves nitro cold brew coffee! Then we got to talking about Expo West, the companies we wanted to chat with and the relationships we wanted to build. If you’ve never heard of Expo West before, it’s a GIANT natural products expo filled with over 2500 companies showcasing their new products or simply trying to get their name out there! And with our jobs, spreading the word of health and wellness through our blog and books, this expo was the perfect opportunity to not only talk with companies but to show our readers that eating healthy is becoming easier and easier because of these amazing companies!

After our coffee-brainstorming session, we headed to the expo to meet with companies and share our experiences with our readers through social media. And we were absolutely blown away by all the companies and what lengths they are going to now to create better quality products for their consumers. We tried clean ingredient cookies, refined sugar-free drinks, more coffee than you could ever taste in a day, mini portable meatloaves, bars, protein, egg-free mayo – really anything you could dream up, this event had it. We spent two days and over 12 hours wandering this event and showing our readers that healthy food and healthy choices is at the forefront and it’s just getting easier and more convenient because of these companies!
And because of this Expo, we both feel even more excited to start our next business journey, both in separate ways and together. Events like this are so inspiring because not only do they show us that the world is opening their eyes to the importance of health, but it also showed us how many women are starting their own businesses and hiring even more women in the workplace. It was such an inspiring thing to see!
Blogging not only brought me and Cassy together, but it has showed us that women in the workplace aren’t going anywhere. We are just getting stronger, just getting more excited and we are simply ready to dominate this world. Women are proving that we are ready to take on anything, especially when it comes to the health of our community. So watch out world – Cassy and I are coming together in even more ways and we are ready to show that the power of us is so much stronger than the power of one!

thanks Lauren!
I work for a natural/organic sales and marketing agency based out of Chicago and have been attending Expo West for the past 5 years. We actually represent many of the brands you write about in your blog! Each year Expo West gets bigger and bigger which means more and more walking and snacking. It is so crazy that the booths are scattered all around the convention center, arena and in the nearby hotels! Had I known you two were there and bumped into you, I’m pretty sure I would been a fan girl. Maybe not at same the level I was when Channing Tatum was there a couple years back but I totally would have asked for a picture 🙂
HE was at expo west?! lol why?! that’s so weird! i did see Cee Lo Green but that’s not even slightly exciting
Loved this post! After listening to your recent podcast where you interviewed Cassy, I started listening to her Fed & Fit podcast and love them both! (PS. I think you’re hysterical on the podcast. Who cares if you curse or yawn?! Sh*t happens!) Y’all are doing such amazing things! And thanks for always including links for the clothes-y’all both have such great style!!
thanks for the love, Frannie!
Love this re-cap. I’m thinking a blogger-turned-reality show should happen here…The Juli & Cassie Show! 🙂 XOXO.
