My stomach is starting to get a bit knotted thinking about not seeing Jackson for that long. As you probably know by now, I’m obsessed with that dog. I have truly never loved something so much. I came home from running errands the other day and every time I let Jackson out of his kennel, I sit on the floor with him and rub his belly and tell him how wonderful he is while he wiggles his butt with excitement. Well, I was doing my normal loving act and the boyfriend came home with one of his friends and I didn’t notice them until they pushed the bedroom door open and stared at me like I was a complete, utter weirdo. Which I am, but it’s still a bit humiliating. I know other people do the same thing. They have to. How can you not be as excited as the dog is every time you see them? I think it’s normal. Anywho, I’m going to miss the crap out of him.
Speaking of Jackson, he’s developed an odd and unattractive habit: he barks at little kids. He’s not around them a ton, but he still sees them at the gym and has played with them in the past with no issue. Then one day, he just started barking at them and backing away like he doesn’t like them. I don’t get it. My first thought is that he doesn’t like how small they are and kids tend to pet dogs in a non fun way. But I don’t really know. I’m hoping this habit goes away with time and being around more kids, but have any of you had to deal with this annoying quality in your dog? I need advice. Or maybe a dog whisperer.
OMG. They have chocolate cinnamon toast crunch cereal nowadays. I’m not going to even act like that doesn’t sound amazing.

This drink looks delicious. Really though, all that talk about coffee and coconut cream going together – you convinced me. Now in the morning when I’m writing, I’m not starving for breakfast because the coconut cream in my coffee is so filling. I added mint leaves today for fun. Thanks!
My dog was scared of little kids when she was a puppy, so I always got them to offer and hand feed her small treats. She loves kids now and is very polite around them. Which is good, as I now have 2 of my own!
What I want to know is where I can get the straw! I see it everywhere but I don’t know where to get it…
I got mine at world market
My dog hates kids also. Like HATES. For no freaking reason haha I think their high pitched voices and the fact that they’re always moving fast makes her nervous.
I TOTALLY get how you feel about Jackson. I feel the same way about my Lola. I have two teenage daughters who constantly roll their eyes at me over the fool I make of myself with that dog.
The other day, we were driving around (we live in Santa Fe) and they were baiting each other about who was the favorite. Without missing a beat I said “Lola”.
I’m still in the dog house. 🙂 But I’m with Lo, so, it’s ok.
This looks yummy, thanks for sharing! And I hope all goes well with the book tour. How incredibly exciting!!!
And hopefully it’s just a phase with Jackson. Any kids you can borrow to help him get over his fear/anxiety? Maybe some time with kids will do the trick esp if they give him lots of treats;) Good luck with the training and the tour!

I honestly love my Boxer more than anything and when I come home to her, I’m just as happy to see her as she is to see me. Sure, I’ve heard trainers say that you should be calm and cool when greeting your dog but how can I do that when she is too damn cute and lovable!
My Boston X, used to bark at them and the more she’s around them she’s much better but she’s still kinda wary. For example is a small child she doesn’t know at all tries to just grab her she kinda freaks and runs off or to me and wants me to pick her up (which she loathes because she’s just a wiggle butt 😉 ). I think she just thinks tiny humans are just odd and is very suspicious hahaha!
Just wondered if you have any problems with the xylitol in the protein powder? Can’t figure out which sugar alcohol is the one that causes bloating.
Love the recipe and I need to try the Formulx ASAP. In coffee?! Get out. Our Yorkie is not a child lover. It’s definitely because they move quickly, are loud and unpredictable. We are working w/him daily…which would be so much easier if parents of small ones would respectfully accept when we tell them HE DOES NOT LIKE CHILDREN. I can’t tell you the number of people that will send their child over anyway “Aww! He’s so small…I’m sure he’s fine!” Look of shock as snarling and cowering begins. UGH.
Email us if you want some samples on the house 🙂 happy to help however we can!
