Good morningggggg!! It’s Monday and I’m trying to get a good attitude going after a weird week last week.  I’ve been feeling off and it’s been a little challenging to get back on track, but I’m trying to look at today as an opportunity to get my mind right and think positive throughout the week.

I don’t know about you but every few months I feel like I’m not progressing. I feel like my workouts aren’t doing anything, I feel like my work isn’t connecting, and I feel like I’m constantly taking two steps back with barely one step forward. And as these feelings begin to pile up, I sometimes feel like I’m drowning and I’m not sure which way to swim.

During these times, I have to remind myself that these feelings are normal and they will come and go. But what really sets people apart in times of doubt is the decision to keep moving. I took the weekend off to reset and recharge and I’m now ready to move forward and leave that crap attitude behind. I plan to work my ass off in the gym, work my ass off at home, and work my ass off in my brain. I don’t have time for a bad attitude and you don’t either! Don’t let self doubt get in the way of your week like I did. Take a minute today to decide that you are going to have a great week and you are going to work your ass off to make sure that’s the case. That’s what I’ll be doing today!

Oh wait, I almost forgot! Don’t forget to grab my newest Four Athletics gear before it’s gone! This round we created 2 long sleeve tops, 2 pairs of leggings, a pair of joggers and 2 hoodies! Juli, thank you for your monday morning posts. I am not Paleo (not even close) nor do I do crossfit or even lift weights, but I am a small business owner and I love the positivity. I needed it today. FYI, I am 42 and never, ever wanted kids. I hated other kids when I was one myself, I tell people I was born an adult. And prior to working for myself I had a very demanding career and didn’t have the time to be in a relationship let alone raise kids. Only recently have I even begun to think about “what if…. I was a mom” and think “Omg, is this my last chance?” and that is because now is the first time in my life I’ve had the time to property raise a child. And I am dating a guy with three very well behaved and amazing kids (13, 17, 21) However when I see small ones out in public I am quickly reminded WHY I NEVER HAD BABIES and I still think I made the right choice. I am glad that I can have my partners kids in my life. He travels a lot for work, like you and when he’s gone I find myself missing his kids almost as much as I miss him. I don’t know why Im telling you all this, maybe I should get my own damn blog…because I guess I can’t tell you to divorce your husband and find someone else who’s done the hard work or raising them just so you can cash in on the good part of being a parent without the bad (diapers, paying for college) sorry for the rambling.

I needed this as well! Last week I cried over work, got myself so worked up, and I am not allowing myself to do that this week! Thanks for the encouragement! Also…I’ve loved your Instagram posts with previous recipes. I’m not sure if you’ve gotten feedback about it, but I love it. I screen shot my favorites and I have my menu ready to go for the next week, it has been great! Thank you!!

thank you!! since IG limits what people see, I’m getting less and less likes on everything i post which makes it feel like people don’t care about my content anymore, which also makes it tough to want to continue to share. so thank you for saying that. and i hope your week is better than last week!!

Hi Juli! I get you here…the dark mornings and dark nights here in Chicago are already boosting up the daily anxiety and self-critical comments. I am not a fan of this time of year. I was thinking about switching over to working out after work, and I was wondering if you have an energy drink to recommend. I looked into Everly and ZipFizz, but I was just curious if you’ve come across anything lately (other than our beloved coffee) that does the trick. Thank you! And I hope you feel better soon!

    1. juli says:

no, i stay away from energy drinks. i’m not a fan. i just like my morning cup of coffee and i feel like that gives me plenty of enough energy. and if it doesn’t, it’s most likely related to my diet.

Hi Juli, I’ve thought a lot about you since you posted last week that you had been crying and was actually worried about you. I felt better when I saw you were in Beaver Creek…LOVE that place! Hope you are doing better this week because I miss your IG stories and posts. By the way, on a more selfish note…did I miss the biscuits and gravy casserole or have you not posted the recipe yet… it looks so amazing but I’m not seeing it on your website, I have a serious biscuits and gravy addiction! Take care.

    1. juli says:

thanks for the love Robin! and no, you haven’t missed that recipe! that recipe is coming your way after thanksgiving!

Hi Juli, I know exactly how you feel about two steps back and barely one step forward! At 52 and in menopause for several years, that metabolism goes and the the pot belly arrives. It is frustrating as I am making concerted efforts in diet and exercise. I couldn’t do the level of workouts that you do as my current Team Burn classes are kicking my butt with soreness hanging around for a couple of days afterwards. And don’t get me started on how I work all week to eat healthy and make one little slip on the weekends and boom, bloated Monday morning.

I would love to see you do a series on eating and exercising for the aging female body dealing with weird or almost no hormones.

    1. juli says:

that would definitely be a little tough for me to share since i haven’t gone through a ton of aging and hormone issues quite yet. i’ve only experienced adrenal fatigue and i’ve shared my experience multiple times. but i’ll keep that in mind for the future!

    Hey Juli!
I’ve been reading your blog for a while now… maybe since 2012, back with the dance video etc haha. I still refer back to your older recipes btw. Also love the way your blog has transitioned and I like this message of positivity and mind-set 🙂 I’ve started my own blog and am trying to start local workshops… and I feel discouraged some days but know it’s a work in progress 🙂
Keep up the great work, we all appreciate it so much!!

    1. juli says:

i’m right there with you Rachel. just gotta keep your head up and keep moving through the tough times!

    Hi Juli!
I have a question somewhat off topic. I recently received a job offer in Vail CO. I would love your opinion on actually living there versus Denver. I’m from the South and currently living in Houston, and nervous about living in a resort town. I’m 26 y.o for reference. Thank you 🙂

    1. juli says:

congrats! and that’s tough for me to say since i’ve always lived in the city. mountain towns like vail are definitely a little quieter in the winter and not a ton of people actually live in Vail since it’s crazy expensive so i think dating is a little more challenging from what i heard. but if you love the mountains and being outdoors constantly, it’s great for that. when you’re in Denver, you can get anywhere pretty easily. being in Vail means you’re a little secluded. but that’s just my perspective since i don’t LOVE the mountains. if you want city feeling with lots of people, be in denver. if you want a slower pace of life with more tourists, live in vail. but remember, that’s coming from someone who lives in denver and has never lived in vail haha
