Today is my last full day working in Pittsburgh. No need to be sad because I will be back here in about a week and a half. Trying to get as much work done before the holiday season. This latest project has taken up all of my time but I still managed to get in a couple workouts in the garage of Bill and Hayley’s house. So here is a summary of my week, food AND home workouts!

Sunday – Travel day! I flew to Pittsburgh where I was greeted by Bill from Primal Palate. We went back to the house so I could unpack and then Bill, Hayley and I packed into the car to go grocery shopping. My credit cards failed me once again, thank you ya sucky bank, so Bill paid. This has happened multiple times now even though I call and tell them I’m in Pittsburgh. I don’t get it, I got to California where I spend way more money on random things, but when I try to buy groceries in Pittsburgh, my bank calls a lock down situation. It’s highly annoying.

Monday – Since I’m working out here, that means LOTS of cooking. This day, I made 5 things. No too shabby for a first day. I try to always get 5 recipes done per day when I’m working on a project. This day included paleo fish tacos. Amaze! Aaaaaand this green shake that has some surprising ingredients in it!

Tuesday – This was an extra special day. I wore my crotch dress. Thankfully, no crotch was seen in the photo I took, but you’ll know what I’m talking about when you see this picture. Anywho, I got my hair and makeup done, which makes me feel less than good looking on days that I do my own hair and makeup, then we packed up the car to go to a photo shoot. It was AWESOME. It’s a super important picture to me and this newest project, so someday soon I’ll actually share it with you and stop being stupidly annoying! Promise. Since this was a photo shoot day, I only got 2 recipes done, but these 2 recipes turned out great so no complaints here!

Crotch dress. I also look like I’m the size of Hagrid. We’re twins.

My eyelashes were 8 feet tall

Wednesday – Another 5 recipes done that day! What was even more wonderful about this day other than falling in love with the Moo Shu recipe I created is that I actually got to workout! Bill and Hayley have weights in their basement so I always pull some to the garage and get my workout on! Here is what I made up:

20 minute AMRAP:

5 burpees

10 hand release push ups

15 air squats with an 18 pound medicine ball

THEN

30 power cleans for time (I used 85#)

I have no idea how many rounds I got or how long it took me to get 30 cleans, but I worked out. And sweated a lot. And was stupid sore the next day since I rarely do body weight workouts. Love them!

Thursday – Thursday was probably the most fun day of all because I made cake. Please understand something…I LOVE cake. Cake with a disgusting amount of frosting is my jam. And thanks to paleo, I’m pretty good about knowing when to stop and not putting myself into a dessert sugar coma. I’ve been dreaming up cake ideas for a while now, so I ran them by Hayley since she is the frosting master and asked if she would help me with making some buttercream frosting and decorating the cake so it was hella gorgeous. It worked! I’ve never been so in love with a cake. After giving some away to friends and snacking on it nightly, it is finally gone, to be remembered forever. Wait until you get this recipe, just you wait!!

Friday – This was yet another big cooking day, I think I ended up cooking 7 things which was pretty great! I also made my own version of paella, which I absolutely love. I didn’t have 7 guys to help me cook it in a pan the size of a shed, but my small pan and two lady hands did the trick! Wanna see a picture? OK!!!

Saturday – This day was stupid productive. I was just feeling it. I’m still on Colorado time, so I sleep in like craziness here in Pittsburgh. On Saturday, I slept until 10:30am! It.was.awesome. But when I work up and saw it was so late, I had to get to work! I made a bunch of recipes including this glazed salmon that is officially my new favorite way to cook salmon. To die.

After cooking things like a motha effa, I decided it was time to get my sweat on! Another opportunity to make up a body weight workout, which I love! This is what I made up:

5 rounds for time:

25 kettlebell swings (all I had was a 25# kettlebell)

10 alternating pistols (one legged squats) – I used a 10# plate to add a little weight

12 burpees

The workout took me about 12 minutes of so. It was fun to do because I’m finally able to keep my heels down on the ground while I do them, which I’ve been unable to do for years. Working out less and with lighter weights has definitely helped me with some of my flexibility issues. One legged workouts are just the best! My ass is sore as all hell, which is the best!
