It’s time for another Worthwhile Wednesdays!! I shared my first Worthwhile Wednesday last month and I plan to make it a regular monthly occurrence. I’ll be sharing my 5 top favorite things of the month – products, businesses, experiences, etc. Last month I said that the Bean Protocol was something that was definitely worthwhile and I’ll still on that boat. I wanted to share it again in this post, but that would just be lazy. But for real, two months in and my skin continues to clear more and more! It’s insane.
But I’ll talk more about that on a separate blog post. For now, let’s talk about my 5 worthwhile products of the month! First up – the Erase Your Face Makeup Remover Cloth. I got a makeup remover cloth in my FabFitFun box a few seasons ago and I’m HOOKED! Before I was using those disposable makeup remover pads that either burned your eyes or didn’t work. And then I always felt guilty because I was continually adding unneeded waste to the world, but I didn’t know what else to use – especially because I’m never been a fan of the cleansing balms that everyone seems to be into. This Makeup Remover Cloth only needs water to get ALL your makeup off your face. It’s insane! No chemicals, no products, no extra trash. There is even 7-day pack so you don’t have to use the same one over and over. This cloth is the best and I’m never going back to disposable makeup remover pads!
Next up is the Buffy Breeze Comforter! Ever since I met my husband, I’ve slept SO HOT…because his body temperature I SWEAR runs normally about 110 degrees, at all times. So as soon as we hop in bed, it immediately feels like our bed is a heated blanket. It’s a nightmare. We went through SO many different comforters trying to find the one that wouldn’t have me covered in sweat all throughout the night. I got really sick of changing my clothes halfway through the night, EVERY night. So I finally tried the Buffy Breeze Comforter and I’m absolutely obsessed. I haven’t had a sweaty night since! The problem I’ve run into is that I don’t find it quite as cooling and comfortable if I have duvet cover on it. So instead, I keep our old duvet comforter on top of the Buffy Breeze Comforter and just pull that back every night when we go to sleep. Brian absolutely hates this, which is fair, but my Buffy Breeze Comforter is normally covered in fake tanner and REALLY needs to go to a dry cleaner on this point, so the other duvet cover on top makes us look less disgusting, which is always a plus.
When I first started the Bean Protocol, I was shopping at Natural Grocers and found this Oasis No-Fat Black Bean Dip. I was so pumped to see ZERO FAT on the label since you are not supposed to have fat with your beans. Plus, it’s made with squeaky clean ingredients – Black Bean, Water, Lemon Juice, Fresh Garlic, Sea Salt, Cumin. That’s it! Sure, I could make my own for cheaper and I have, but I’m all about efficiency and time management these days, and blending beans into a puree does not fit that criteria. I have about 4 of these containers in my fridge at all times to make sure I’m eating beans throughout the day. A dip is often much easier to palate than the bean itself. If you’re wondering where you can find this yourself, they have a store locator tab! This dip with some red bell peppers – oh hell yeah.
Another food related thing I’m loving right now is Cava!! A location just recently opened by us and I’m heading there weekly for lunch. If you’ve never been to Cava, it’s similar to a Chipotle where you build your bowl or salad, which it has a Mediterranean spin on it. I love it so much because they have lentils, so I can get 1/2 rice and 1/2 lentils, then add all the toppings I want. They have tons of protein, sauces, dips, veggies, and more. I always add braised lamb, pickled onions, cabbage slaw, and tomato + cucumber salad. Then when I’m not following the bean protocol, I add feta, olives, and the garlic dressing. Mix that shit up, then go live your best life! It’s so simple, fresh, and delicious!
And last, but definitely not least – Tan Luxe Wonder Oil. I talked all about this product in a previous blog post, but I wanted to share it again because I LOVE it! I made the HUGE mistake last night of trying a different self tanner and woke up this morning the exact same color as before I had even applied the tanner. I’m pissed. But that definitely never happens with Tan Luxe Wonder Oil. This oil gives you the best tan, it smells great, and it really lasts! I still need to try more of their products, but now I have a great reminder to never try new products. They are the best and I’m never going back!
Hope you loved this month’s Worthwhile Wednesdays!! If you have any products that you think are worth talking about, share them in the comments below! I’m always on the hunt for new brands and new things to try!

Every time I see your house I get so happy that you didn’t follow the trend of farmhouse, or now people are going into more boho style always chasing the trend. I just really love how you have designed everything. I wish more people would let their homes be more of an expression of themselves.
awwwww thanks Christie! it’s way more fun to live life in color, in my opinion!
Hi! Just listened to your July 11th podcast and have listened to almost most of your recent ones, I love them! So, I feel like my acne journey was the SAME as yours where I read every ounce of info online and could not find anything to work, but anyway I know you don’t want somebody to give a recommendation of cutting out dairy, or using MACA, or doing a liver cleanse or not eating something (lol this was literally me as well trying all things people suggested worked for them, no – saw palmetto and progesterone cream did not work for me or changing my diet (even went to a naturopath and they were useless for me)), so anyway, my acne finally went away last year at the age of 26, I spent every day upset by it, I was getting scarring and I am very fair skinned so every mark showed for weeks to moths! The severity was similar to yours, it would be really mild to sometimes moderate. Unless it was just a miracle last year that my body finally stopped giving me acne, the two changes I made were to use clean skincare and really only clean skincare, sounds hippy dippy and I don’t mean like use no facewash or whatever but I just found natural brands that are actually natural, I found some brands that are actually very simple ingredients, trial and error led me to Sanre Organic Skinfood being my favorite, also just found Leaf People and they are great face washes and face creams, also started to wear no makeup except to dot concealer on any zits and mascara – I switched over to using 100% Pure makeup which is good but I feel like it does clog my pores and if I was wearing skin makeup like even tinted moisturizer it was causing some breakouts, this is hard as I was flying for work and obviously out and about and some redness would show but whatever, got over it, and I also had some lingering anxiety from a trauma so I started meditating with an app – as of this year I have no anxiety or can get it in check quickly and wear makeup only for like date night, and really not even getting hormonal acne on my chin as I used to, even was earlier this year but it seems to have stopped. So, those little changes were it for me and it went away, I think my hormones were out of whack from being a constant ball of stress from my anxiety so I think it was a 50% effort of the clean skincare and 50% clearing up that anxiety which cleared up the acne.
Okay, enough from me, didn’t mean to waylay this post – and you don’t need to actually post this, I was just trying to find a place to reach out and let you know my own experience that is still mind boggling to me and some days I have been like is the acne actually gone for good.
My husband struggles with acne and I am still trying to figure his out haha I am starting to create my own skincare products because they are so expensive for some dumb things like body butter but face creams and lotions are same pricing as Tula stuff and all of that!
Take Care!!
Didn’t know where to leave a comment about getting self tanner on white sheets, so I’ll leave it here…if you have white sheets, you can add a little bleach to your wash and they will be pristine white, just like new again!! But it is harder to get out of colored ones. I usually try to add an oxygen booster of some kind, oh and pre-treat before you throw them in the washer. K…bye
awesome i’ll try that out!
I know there is nothing about Colleen Rothschild in this post, but I just wanted to say that the products are AMAZING. I am sure they will show up in a Worthwhile Wednesday post in the future. -Elena
i’ve talked about colleen rothschild on my blog probably 5 or 6 times and constantly talk about it on social media!
Do you happen to have an influencer discount code for Buffy? I want to give it a try but thought this would be worth an ask first! Same question for the luxe tanning oil? Thanks!
i do not, i’m sorry! i don’t know if they even work with influencers
Hey Juli, I know it wasn’t this post and maybe you only spoke about it on the Podcast, but I remember when you were going through the difficult time with Jackson(so glad he’s doing soooo much better ❤️) you mentioned you had some hair loss due to the stress. Can you please remind me what you did for that?
Thank you!
Another idea for acne fighting (and freaking cystic acne) is the Norwex face and body clothes…all you do is get the rag wet clean your face (no soap/product…just water) and rinse/hang to dry when you’re done. It leaves your face so damn clean! A friend of mine introduced me to these, and they have been a life changer. I’ll still occasionally get breakouts, but they don’t last nearly as long or get as bad as they would normally get. My teenage son likes and uses them too since they’re so easy. The only annoying part of them is they cannot be washed with regular detergent and have to buy theirs (although you use such a small amount it lasts forever).
Honestly, my skin issues have really nothing to do with skincare products, it’s what’s going on with my gut and the hormone imbalances inside. When those issues are handled, I don’t have skin issues
