Beauty & Makeup Products I’m Loving Lately + My Recent Skincare Routine (video)

After dealing with my cystic acne and doing different treatments with my esthetician, I love trying all kinds of different products at home. Whether that’s skin products or makeup, I love trying it all! And because of reader recommendations and my esthetician, I’ve been able to find all kinds of products that I love and use every single day. So I thought it would be a good time to update you on exactly what I’m using on my skin every morning and night, along with the makeup I’m obsessed with right now! So let’s do this…because this is about to be a looooong post! And you can find a little video at the bottom! I tried to shorten the video as much as possible because people get bored easily, but be sure to follow me on instagram because I often share videos of my skincare routine along with how to properly use different products!

First Let’s Start with My Morning Routine –

Tinkle Facial Razor – I forgot to mention this is my video but I like to use this razor once a week or every two weeks. I get my face dermaplaned regularly which takes off all the baby fuzz, hairs and dead skin, so I like to use these razors in between seeing my esthetician. These razors are super cheap and I use them all over my face. Seriously, everywhere. I don’t use any sort of serum or cream, I just use the razor by itself. And no, my hair has not grown back darker or thicker. It grows back exactly the same, or it has for me! As you get older, those mustache hairs get darker and more visible. But not if you shave that face of yours! And it’s cheaper than waxing!

Tula Dual-Phase Skin Reviving Treatment Pads (use code PALEOMG for 20% off skincare) – The pads have a white, smooth side that disperses activating serum and natural plant fibers over the skin, then you flip the pad to the textred side and massage gently for 1-2 minutes to exfoliate. After you rinse your skin, your skin is instantly smoother and softer! They include a probiotic + lactic acid cocktail which helps reveal healthy skin cells, strengthens and hydrates the skin. In the treatment pads you’ll find Papaya Fruit Extract, Willow Bark Extract, Witch Hazel, and Cotton Plant Fibers, all which work together to help brighten and remove excess oil and dead skin! I like to use these once a week!

Vivant Skincare Mandelic Acid Face Wash – This is the face wash I use the most and I LOVE it. It has little beads so it exfoliates your face, but it’s also great for acne, anti-aging and skin brightening!

Vivant Skincare Mandelic Acid – After I was my face, I use this mandelic acid which is also great for acne, anti-aging and skin brightening just like the wash!

Beyond Complexion Vitamin C w/ HQ Lightening Serum or Vivant Skincare Spin Trap Serum (Vitamin C) – I’m using one of these just depending on what’s going on with my skin. I was having some trouble with some extra dark spots on my face after traveling to the Caribbean over the summer, so I started using the HQ once the summer ended and I was out of the sun. And it cleared those dark spots right up! You have to be careful not to overdo the HQ serum and use it in cycles so when I’m cycling off of it, I’ll use the spin trap to make sure I’m still getting Vitamin C on my skin every day!

Tula Volume Defense Deep Wrinkle Serum (use code PALEOMG for 20% off skincare) – I don’t believe you can simply get rid of wrinkles by using a cream. Which is why I get different laser treatments and profractional, but I do believe in using a wrinkle cream to help improve the skin and hydrate it in between those treatments! And I’ve loved using this one daily!

Vivant Skincare Daily SPF Treatment – Because SPF, duh. I’ve had the best results with this stuff when it comes to break outs so it’s the brand I use daily.

Revision Skincare Revox 7 – I don’t use this product every day, but I love it on days I have to take photos or on days that I’m trying to look my extra best! It’s an oil-free serum that helps reduce the appearance of expression lines. I call it botox in a bottle because a reader told me about it and that’s how she explained it, but don’t try to sue me when it’s not like botox. Botox is like botox. But this stuff is pretty damn awesome and definitely helps with those smile lines!

Tula Illuminating Serum (use code PALEOMG for 20% off skincare) – This is my all-time favorite product by Tula because it really does make your skin glow. Even when I don’t put on any sort of makeup, my skin still looks better and more dewy because of this serum! It’s amazing!

L’Occitane Divine Eyes – It’s taken me a little while to find a eye serum that I like, but this stuff is fantastic. It’s especially helpful when it comes to concealer – this cream make the concealer under the eyes stay smooth throughout the day, instead of clumping up and sinking into the lines and wrinkles.

Jane Iredale Mineral BB Cream (SPF 25) using the Beauty Blender – I’m legit OBSESSED with this BB cream. Before, I was using a powder but since it’s so dry in Colorado, it felt a little cakey sometimes. So this is the perfect alternative and it gives you SO much coverage. And you really don’t need much to give you great coverage. It’s seriously the best! And I use this under eye concealer for under my eyes, dark spots and any blemishes!

Beauty Counter Best of Brushes Set – If you’re in need of some basic high quality brushes, I’ve been using this set for my face and eyes. The brushes are super soft and I haven’t had any annoying shedding issues which seems to happen with some brushes.

Beauty Counter Matte Bronzer #1 – Since my BB cream is on the lighter side because winter is coming and I refuse to purchase a different color, this bronzer warms the skin without shine!

Beauty Counter Matte Bronzer #2 – I use this bronzer as a contouring effect, since I know absolutely nothing about makeup or how to contour. I use this darker bronzer on my neck and neckline, cheekbones and the top of my forehead!

Smashbox Eyeshadow Primer – Love this primer! It keep the eyeshadow from creasing and keeps my mascara from coming off onto my eyelids!

Beauty Counter Ultimate Nudes Eyeshadow Palette or Beauty Counter Winter Jewels Palette – These have become my go-to palettes for any of my eyeshadow looks and they are seriously beautiful! I live the use the winter jewels palette lately because I love the pinks and rose golds in the palette.

Beauty Counter Color Intense Lip Set – This is a great gift set for the holidays because the set comes with 5 different lip colors so you can figure out which one is your favorite while still mixing up your look sometimes. My favorite is “Brunch” and I’ve been using that almost every day for a little bit of color without looking like I’m wearing lipstick!

Ardell Lashes – I often get the question about my lashes on instagram stories so I thought I would share it here. These lashes are cheap and flexible so they are easy to apply! I apply them with Duo Lash Adhesive and I’ll reuse them 3-4 times before I toss them. I simply pull off any excess glue before I reuse them!

Now For My Night Time Routine –

Beauty Counter Instant Eye Makeup Remover – I finally found a makeup remover that I trust that doesn’t have sketchy ingredients in it! Beauty Counter is all about safer skincare products and as they continue to grow, their products continue to improve. And this makeup remover actually removes everything!

Beauty Counter Multi Masker Set – I’ve used the charcoal mask and charcoal bar from the Beauty Counter for quite some time now, but I love this set because you not only get the charcoal mask, brightening mask, and plumping mask, but you also get an application brush to make applying the masks super easy! I seriously LOVE all of these masks! I just used the charcoal last night! I like to use these masks once or twice a week, whenever my skin is in need of some love!

Vivant Skincare Daily Repair Pads – I love these pads and highly recommend them to anyone who is looking for a product to use nightly but doesn’t want to spend money on a ton of different products. I cut these pads in half so they last longer! They have been great for skin repair, but also for acne. I was having some random acne on my back where my sports bra sits and I used these pads on that spot for a couple weeks and it really helped heal that issue faster than without them!

Beyond Complexion Vitamin A+ Exfoliating Therapy w/ Lactic Acid – I love using a Vitamin A every night and this product has been awesome. This cream is suppose to help with cell turnover with minimal irritation and help improve skin tone and texture, fewer lines and wrinkles, and acne impactions loosened and cleared. And yes, I did take that from their website. I don’t know all the facts, ok!?!

Tula Multi-Spectrum Overnight Skin Rescue Treatment (use code PALEOMG for 20% off skincare) – Those last two products can be a bit drying, especially if you’re new to them or live in a dry place. This overnight treatment coats your face and protects it throughout the night, so you wake up with more hydrated and healthier looking skin. This stuff is magic!

Check out my video below! I share more info about these products! And if you have any questions or comments, please leave them below! I’ll answer them as quickly as possible!

  1. Thank you for this!! You mentioned treating your dark spots with HQ. I just started on Lytera 2.0 (non-HQ) for my melasma but have heard HQ works wonders! Curious why it is best to cycle on and off?

    1. i would have to ask my esthetician again, so don’t quote me on this. but i think it can cause discoloration (aka over bleaching) of the skin if you don’t circle on and off of it. but again, definitely don’t quote me on that!

  2. Never used BB or CC creams – but I am looking for something similar to a tinted moisturizer to wear during the day when I don’t want to mess with foundation but want some light coverage that would even me out. Would you recommend your BB cream in the video for that?

  3. Thanks for convincing me to take the leap into Tula skin care. I got my order a few days ago, so I’m just starting but I was so impressed with my first use of the dual phase pads. It really was like a mini peel at home!

  4. Hi Juli! I loved this video! Will you do a tutorial on how you apply your pink look from the winter jewels palette? It’s beautiful!

  5. Hi Juli! Just have to say that the blog and your podcast are the best. You have introduced me to so many amazing products!!! Vivant and Butcherbox to name a couple. Keep doin your thing! Love seeing what you’re up to:)

  6. Hey Juli,
Haven’t heard you talk about it in your podcast recently. But did you decide to continue with Nuva ring? Asking because I was wondering if your acne has changed like you mentioned it did when you went off it for a few months.

    1. yes!! my skin has definitely broken out a little bit more, but that could also have to do with some stress levels (causing hormonal issues) and not drinking enough water because i have been really bad about that

  7. JULI!!!!!!!!! This video is THE best, you crack me up girl! I am asking my hubs for almost all this stuff for Christmas 😉 I remember your husband took a food sensitivity test recently, did you link to that somewhere? I am looking to do one too.

    Thanks!

  8. I just bought the Tula Discovery Kit and I am really excited. My goal is to not have to wear a lot on my skin and have “luminous” skin. Excited to try out Tula. Your skin and hair have been looking fantastic too!

  9. Jenna Schoenbachler

LOVED the video!!!!!!!! I can’t wait to try some of these products. I have a sample pack of the Tula products and they are amazing!!! I think they can really help with my rosacea. I also get BBL and see a major difference. I have deep acne scars though and want to try profactional but have no pain tolerance what so ever! Yikes! Your skin looks lovely!!!

    1. i’m doing profractional again on tuesday and i’m soooooo nervous! i like doing BBL since it’s not very invasive and you recover so quickly, but i HIGHLY recommend doing profractional. i think my numbing cream wore off a bit last time which didn’t help. i’ll definitely be talking about my next experience soon!

  10. Hey girl! I must review all things I’ve made or tried based off your suggestions. Your recommendations and recipes are off the chain!
I’ve been using the Tula mask for a few weeks now and I LOVE IT!!
And I bought the hand held brow razor. Love! And there perfect for my teenage son who gets little hairs on his face ♥️

  11. I want to know about your hair! It’s grown so much and is super healthy. What products are you using and who is your stylist?

  12. Hi Juli, I just took the plunge and bought my first set of vivant skin care! I got the wash you recommended, the toner that goes with it, the 8% mandelic acid serum and the spin trap antioxidant serum and can’t wait to get them in the mail. I hope that’s a good combo of products to start with and have high hopes to have glowing skin like you soon 🙂 I love all your content, from blog to podcast and social media and always learn so much from you. You’re the Best!

  13. I heard you say you were using a dermapen. Which one and how’s that working out? Thank you for all your hard work on recipes, podcasts and blogs! We aren’t all trolls and haters! Lol

  14. Hey Juli!
Thanks to your post about Tula products, I have switched my skin care routine and have seen vast improvements in my skin. I used to struggle with acne and can’t thank you enough for sharing your experiences.

Question, is the L’occitane divine eye serum the only eye cream you use now? I know you mentioned using Tula’s eye products before, but do you like the l’occitane one better?

    Thanks!

  15. Would you recommend the Tula face cleanser or the Vivant Mandelic face wash for daily use if I have redness and prone to acne?

  16. Hi!
Love what you do! Just wanted to ask a few quick questions. Any recommendation on acne spot treatments for random pimples that come about during the time of the month? Also, do you have any experience with Skinceuticals & Creme De La Mer? If so, what are your thoughts? Thank you so much for taking the time to answer these. Happy Holidays!

    1. i usually use tula dual phase skin treatment pads then spot treatment with beauty counter charcoal mask. and no, i have’t tried withe row those brands!

  17. Hey Juli,
Thanks for sharing your skin care routine! Im a huge Beautycounter fan and use all of their products including the rejuvenating line and charcoal bar. However, I can’t seem to get my forehead super duper smooth without tiny clogged pores and acne. Which product would you recommend to really make my forehead as smooth and clear as yours? I love how smooth your forehead looks (haha kinda a weird thing to compliment). The charcoal br has helped but I find it pulls out so much from within that I have more bumps sometimes when using it. Thanks and I look forward to your response 🙂

    1. laser treatments are great for dark spots and that’s what i’ve done myself! i don’t know what closed comedones are but i would recommend reaching out to an esthetician or dermatologist for anything you’re dealing with with your own skin!
