Thank goodness for my friend Heather or I would have no pictures to put on my random blog posts. I wish I had one of me eating. REALLY weird that I don’t. And disappointing. I’ll eat in more public places from now on. With a camera man by my side.
I don’t know if you care about what I eat, but I’m going to put it out there anyways. A couple people have asked what I eat on a daily basis, especially during CrossFit competition season, so I thought I’d share. I eat different every day, depending on what I’ve made that week for my blog or what I have on hand for random crap that wasn’t worth posting. I make a lot of random burgers when I don’t know what to make.
My breath smells like onions.
Ok, so this day of meals is from Wednesday. My schedule is really weird being a coach and having to blog/cook at random times of the day so I tend to eat at awkward times as well. Be prepared to be bored!
- 4:15am- wake up time- usually will have a cup of coffee
- 5:30am- coaching
- 6:30am- breakfast–> ~4oz leftover chicken breast, 6-7 large strawberries, 1 grande americano with heavy cream (probably drank 2/3 of it)
- 7:15-10am- coaching
- 10:30am- workout + strength session
- 11:45am- protein drink (I do about 6-8 oz water with 1/2 scoop Simply Pure Nutrients Recovery Fuel)
- 12:00pm- made food for the day — snacked while I cooked–> 1.5 pieces bacon, 1-2 oz beef, handful of walnuts
- 1:30pm- lunch–> ~3-4oz grass fed beef, 1/4 onion caramelized, 1 piece of bacon, 1/2 small avocado
- 3:00pm- 2nd workout + muscle up practice
- 4:00-8:00pm- coaching
- 8:30pm- dinner–>2 southwest turkey sliders and a bit of slaw
- 10:00pm- late night snacks while I blog–> 3 strawberries, some walnuts, 1 southwest slider

Wow. You bored yet? Me too. All that food looks like dog doo doo. I get lazy with my camera phone when the food looks like poo. And I have shaky hands. I’m a nervous person. Not really.
So, got any questions? Are you thinking…”Say wha?! This Juli chick is effing whack” or “I can’t believe this girl drinks protein shakes! I thought she called herself paleo?! Fraud!” or “OMG I can’t believe she eats past 7pm! She sucks at life” Don’t worry people, I know. But I would definitely love to hear from you no matter what you have to say!

Can we be besties? i love your sarcasm girl haha. i made your caramel bars (just posted it on my blog) and they were a huge hit at a dinner party. I was surprised about the veggie thing too that some of the other commenters noticed, but we all respond differently to foods!
Yeah our bodies are weird!
Wow i dont have time to read all the comments about people jibbing what you eat, who are you people anyway??
I just finished 30 days paleo challenge yesterday & feel amazing!!! correction amaze-balls is a better word.
I have been crossfitting albeit on my own in my local gym (cant afford a proper crossfit gym) but i had been doubting how paleo would improve my training, well i concede on day 29 of the challenge i can honestly say everything felt better & even tho im proper dumb & did a WOD 1 mile run 2 MILE ROW then 1 mile run instead of a 2km row, i still kicked a$$ & enjoyed the WOD
I think I dropped 4kg in the 30 days but not sure, Im more impressed by how much better i feel tho
Thanks for your yummy recipes Juli, keep em coming
Awesome job alistair! Way to be an inspiration!!
Looks like you & I are eating pretty similar amounds of food, but is that a “natural” amount for you? Do you struggle to eat less than you want to eat, or do you feel pretty satiated at each meal?
I have to be so incredibly conscious about not overeating, and anytime I’ve tried the “eat by feel, just eat until you’re full!” method, I end up eating a fucking shit ton of food. I literally out-ate my own father at an AYCE rib meal…and I only quit because everyone else was finished.
I may feel satiated physically, but I pretty much always feel deprived mentally. It’s tough.
If you can go all out on ribs, you’re one of my new favorite people…I have had the same issue with satiety, if i don’t meticulously count, i’ll knock down 5k calories in a day and that’s just eating meat. Only way i’ve ever kept it under control is the use of intermittent fasting.
Oh, yes, ribs are my most beloved. I don’t order less than an entire rack, ever!
Yep, I will average 3k calories by eating whatever I want. And as I weigh 135 lbs, that’s just a wee bit over maintenance…
I like IF as well, but have to be careful with it; basically can’t have any other life stress or it leads directly to binges. But when it does work, I agree it’s a great way to go.
Yeah I could eat meat until I puked dude. fasting makes me eat more sadly
I also WANT to eat more, but feel satieted after a few minutes once it sets in. It’s more my mind. I WANT more food because of my mind, not my gut. So I could eat meat for hours and veggies too! I am right there with you, definitely feel deprived at times
Hi Juli!
It is so comforting to know that someone else struggles with veggies! I questioned it for a long time, everything pushes the importance of veggies so much, so it’s great to know someone else reacts like I do! Thanks for sharing, even tho many seem to disagree with your low veg intake, it has helped me to understand that may be what my body is doing too!
Someone earlier mentioned wanting something for improved recovery after training. I use a rehydration drink with amino acids and electrolytes that significantly improve recovery and soreness. Be happy to share that with anyone interested. 🙂
You rock!!
Thank you so much for commenting Carolin!! I’m glad someone else can relate with me on that issue. It’s a shame huh? Thanks so much for your feedback!
You just reminded me! I need to get some groceries so I can make more sliders. Since I live in Oregon, I have to wait til June to eat yummy, fresh, local strawberries. nomnomnom.
Make those sliders!
Thank you so much for posting this! I love seeing what others eat and compare it. Also, those sliders look AMAZING!
PS…I just made your fig fudge balls and all I can say is HOLY BALLS!!! Those balls are legit! LOL! Seriously I ate 99% of them and don’t even care.
Love your blog!
Glad you liked the balls Erica!
What headbands do you use? I haven’t had any luck keeping them on during WODs.
Lululemon, lucy and bondibands!
Thanks! I only have lulu ones and they suck. I will check the others out. I love this whole “Dear Juli” thing you got going on!
Hey Juli,
I’m sure ur sick of questions by now, but Im curious on ur comment re: fish oil for recovery / muscle soreness.
I currently take amino acids & consume as i train for that but would like to stop using them if fish oil is a good sub for this? I take fish oil as well currently.
Also, yes one more….do you think strength then conditioning, or conditioning then strength workout?? I do strength first myself
Alistair, I use PurePharma fish oil. 2-5 grams a day depending how crappy I’m feeling. And try both, I mix it up all the time. You body should train itself under all conditions!
Interesting one. I like your menu. Even though this list is long ;), it is really healthy. There are proteins and vitamins which is great! I like your late night snack choice, it is a good example of healthy snacks. Great post. 🙂
haha thanks!
Thanks for getting back to me on the fish oil Juli, i take 3 grams generally but i might see how i go increasing the amount
