So this little bite size idea was brought to you by an awesome reader. She emailed me with a non-paleo recipe of energy bites that were combined using oats and asked if I could come up with something! I love her. Well, oats make poop float in your bloodstream, and I personally don’t want that, so I came up with my own little version of energy bites. And they taste like heaven. Laura said she liked them because they weren’t overly sweet. I personally don’t think there is such thing as “overly sweet” but you get my flow.

OMG. I have the greatest news of the year. I caught a ball in kickball, on Tuesday. I, Juli B., caught a fly ball that a human being had kicked. Ok, if you have no idea why I think this is a big deal, you need to read some of my past posts. I don’t like balls sports. Or, really, sports in general. I like being in a kitchen. Or lifting a barbell over my head. But when a ball is flying my way, I freeze. Seriously seize up. So when a ball flew in my direction and there was no other teammate around me to take over, I had to do it. I had to put my arms out, say f*ck f*ck f*ck multiple times, and hope for the best. Luck obviously played in my favor that one play. Thank goodness or my kickball team would have thought I was even more inept than I already seem. Did I mention I have a really good looking team? Oh, I did. But seriously, wait until I get a picture for you guys, the men and women are straight up studs.

Have you watched The New Girl yet? You haven’t?! You’re dumb. It’s seriously absolutely hilarious. It’s one of those shows that you have to listen very carefully to because of all the good slip-in comments that bounce around throughout each episode. And it now has my new crushes in the newer episodes….Dermont Mulroney. F*ck he’s dreamy. Like, epic dreamy. I love him. I wish he’d wod with me.

Love these! Make them for my fiancé consistently so he stops losing weight as a sick rapid pace. I have cut back on sugar and 2 tablespoons of raw honey is so good as well!

Thanks for this recipe. One of my favorites

These balls are amazing!!!! My kids LOVE them which is great because they hardly eat anything and are quite skinny. These will be the perfect solution to them always wanting unhealthy deserts. YAY!! Thanks for sharing!!!

Ok…am I the only person whose creation of these little balls was a nightmare? Now I don’t have food processor so I used a blender and that may have contributed so most of this. The mixture of ingredients was like cement and I couldn’t get it to mix. I ended up adding at least a cup of water to make it a big easier but still almost blew out my blender ( ah – the smell of appliances frying) and broke a spatula! I ended up mixing by hand and chopping the figs up. They look pretty and taste great but I’d really like to know what I can do to make this process a little easier on me and my kitchen. Any way out there to make these without a food processor?

lol yeah, first problem was not using a food processor. they really do make all the different. chopping everything up won’t be enough. sorry it was such a nightmare!

Ok… I know I’m a little late to the party with this post. But a coworker made “Energy Bites” (oats, peanut butter, etc.) and I was looking for a Paleo alternative. Made these last night and OMG, I think I like them better than the non-paleo ones! My fiance came home and saw them in the fridge thinking it was cookie dough, then ate one, and asked me when I was going to bake the cookies. I love when I sneak in Paleo foods and he doesn’t even realize they’re Paleo! Thank you for another great recipe! Will be making these again next week as a snack for a 12-hour road trip!

(did I end almost every sentence in an exclamation point? Yes… I think I did.)

    Totally impressed with these! Delish!!!!

    1. Um, omg, these look delicious. Duh.
    2. YES! Another crossfitter who hates sports. I picked dandelions on the soccer field as a kid and never even attempted to score a goal in 2 years. I was a delicate child.
    3. As a gal with three male roommates, YES TO NEW GIRL. I just started it on Netflix a few weeks ago, and the best part is that the aforementioned guy roommates — all 3 of ’em — love watching it with me. Go figure. We’re playing True Americans next week and it’s going to be epic.
    4. About to listen to your interview on Girls Gone WOD! Can’t wait!

I’m not really into protein powders – will it screw up the recipe to leave it out?

    1. juli says:

      nope

    Juli,
Your killin’ me with these post..I can attest to the F*ck,F*ck, F*ck, when doing something new..downhill skiing, jumping off a cliff in Kauai (waterfall), jumping off our boat to save our Springer Spaniel and son, since hubby told him go get the dog!!! Yes, we all have our moments! I watch The New Girl, first I lock the master bedroom door, tell my husband stay out…he has a tendency to talk during such shows including breaking bad, a girls gotta do what a girls gotta do! ps…thanks for the recipes

Not to sound stupid, but is there a resource where I can find out more about the paleo way of nutrition and healthy eating? Had a buddy mention it to me, but would like to understand more prior to making a step towards anything. Being a nurse…I like to have the research to support the action.

Thanks and have a great weekend everyone!

    1. juli says:

i’m not sure exactly what you’re asking for but robb wolf’s book ‘the paleo solution’ is a great resource

  10. Yokie says:

Why raw honey? Is that a flavor issue or just healthier option? I can’t have raw honey. How ’bout agave or coconut syrup?

    1. juli says:

Raw honey is a bit healthier in some people’s opinions. I just like the taste more but you can do whatever sweetener you’d like
